Brodie Croyle - Dynasty prospects (1 Viewer)

What do you think about Brody Coyle in a dynasty format?

I drafted him late in a recent initial dynasty draft and have heard good things about him from some of the Chiefs off season workouts.

I think he has as much possible value as many other rookie QB prospects.

Croyle has a good head on his shoulder and ok arm strength. He has durability issues and needs to bulk up. All in all, I see him as a good game manager and could fill Trent Green's role in a couple of years. A good character kid whom I think Herm will like.

He's got much greater than "OK" arm strength. But he doesn't figure to take over a starting role in the next two years -- possibly three -- and so I'd say you may be holding out with him for a while.

His main competition seems to be Casey Printers from NFLE. The Chiefs are high on this guy as well. I was targeting Croyle in my dynasty draft but he went before I was willing to take him. So instead I went out and picked up Printers from the waiver wire. I like Croyle and what he has to offer, but the hype seems to be more about the Printers guy because he is a more mobile QB and has just as much ability, if not more, than Croyle. Who knows though. I think at worst Croyle will end up as QB #3 since they let Todd Collins walk.

1. Leinart

2. Cutler

3. Young

4. Clemens

5 Croyle

That's how I ranked this years QB class.

You said you got him late. If that's the case then I think you did OK.

In my 12 team rookie draft he went at the 10th pick of the 3rd round. 4th or later seems like good value to me.

I love his talent but he needs to add muscle and stay healthy.also unless green goes down croyle won't see any playing time anytime soon. When croyle does take over herm edward's conservative offense will prolly limit him. Overall he has some potential but some question marks as well, I consider him the 5th best qb in the rookie class

In my Initial Dynasty draft (12 teamer) I got him with the 217th pick (19.01).

I live in Alabama and am a Bama fan so I have watched Brodie his entire college career. I think that he does have fairly good instincts (though not on Cutler's level) and good arm strength, but as people have stated he has durability issues and needs to bulk up, a lot in my opinion. I think he's minimum a three year project. Also don't beleive that he's a lock to start at any point.

Keep this in mind, KC has NEVER been even remotely average when drafting QBs...digest this....

KC starting QBs since 1980

Trent Green-trade

Elvis Grbac-FA

Rich Gannon-FA

Steve Bono-FA

Joe Montana-trade

David Kreig-FA

Steve Deberg-FA

Bill Kenney-FA

The guys they have drafted by round:

James Killian 7th

Pat Barnes 4th 4th

Steve Matthews 7th

Steve Stenstrom 4th

Matt Blundin 2nd

Mike Elkins-2nd

Doug Hudson 7th

Todd Blackledge-1st

Steve Fuller-1st

Pete Woods 4th

David Jaynes 3rd

Mike Livingston 2nd

That list is so sickening.....the only guy to even be decent was Livingston and he was QB in thelean years after KC won the SB and was devoid of teh HOF defenders.

History says to not value Croyle.....once Green retires, they will find someone else out there....a 3rd or 4th year guy who is ready to start or a veteran.

Especially under a new regime... how could you use a franchises history of drafting QB to determine if one they drafted now will turn out to be a good player or not. Any other arguments aside, I cant see this as being a good judgement of what he might become, or might not become.

I fail to see to how players drafted in the 60's would have any impact Croyle. Livingston was drafted before any of their current players were even born. It's been 15 years since they have drafted a QB before the fourth round.

:goodposting: I like Croyle and with KC's talent, I could see a Philip Rivers scenario develop as Green grows long in the tooth.I have him about the 5th best rookie QB in this exact same order. :thumbup:After these 5, it gets rather speculative (T. Jackson in MIN, Gradkowski in TB)

Another Bama fan chiming in here (albeit, transplanted back to N.E.).

Brodie has very good arm strength, actually the best of the rookie class (as far as the combines go). Aside from the slight frame and durability issues, what Brodie has always lacked is pocket presence. The ability to move in the pocket and avoid contact. That can be taught, the body can be bulked up, but it will take time.

Excercise patience.

Printers seems more....closer to being NFL ready than Brodie. My understanding is Brodie has missed some time due to injury already and that's not helping his progress

I would rather have Tavaras Jackson than Croyle
