Brodie Croyle (1 Viewer)

Did anyone watch the game tonight? Croyle looked awful! The third week is typically the week where the other team game plans for the other team. It looks like Croyle is in trouble when he's not playing vanilla defenses. Will a KC homer please tell me that he is not going be the starter? How could he start over Huard, who had the second highest QB rating last year and put Ws up. This is insane.

If Croyle starts, I am downgrading every Chief. Gonzo drops a tier. The WRs are nearly undraftable. And LJ just drops like a rock (and I was already down on him). LJ out of the top 10!

It won't be quite this bad, but it feels a lot like KC 2007 = OAK 2006.

Please put in Huard.

After the Saints game, Ive gotta believe that Croyle will NOT start for this team. Everyone knew the job is/was his for the taking, so in the ever-important 3rd preseason game, which actually means a little something, playing at home and probably under a little pressure, Croyle did nothing. KC gets shut out at home. Not good. And Herm is looking to win NOW, not prepare a guy to maybe win down the road. He doesnt have time for that. Huard may not be a rock star, but he's a veteran who knows the system and understands the pro game. Right now, Croyle is simply a young kid with a strong arm. And it takes alot more than just a strong arm to make it as an NFL QB.

As for how this affects LJ owners, I think if anything it clears up some uncertainty. You can expect almost without question that Croyle is simply not ready and will not be the KC starting QB opening day. Huard hasnt exactly stepped up this preseason, but he'll be ready to go when the season starts. And LJ's #s were just fine last year with Huard as the starting QB.

Hi ghee,Huard isn't helping himself though with the calf injury. From the Daily Email Update last night:
KC - QB Huard's Injury Could Cost Him Chance For JobSource: Adam Teicher, Kansas City StarDamon Huard's last chance to win the Chiefs' starting quarterback spot may have disappeared Tuesday when he again failed to practice because of a sore calf muscle. Huard also didn't practice Monday. His absences and the injury threaten his ability to play in Thursday night's game against New Orleans at Arrowhead Stadium. "He's hurting," coach Herm Edwards said. "We'll see where he's at between now and Thursday. If he can't push off and throw, he probably won't play." Croyle will start against New Orleans and play most, if not all, of the first half and then perhaps into the third quarter. A good showing could cement his spot as the starter. "If I go out there and have a good game and put some points on the board, then it's going to be interesting," Croyle said. "If I don't, then they might feel I'm not ready to go." [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]The last two paragraphs are telling. Croyle did not have a good game Thursday night. He actually had some stretches where he looked awful. Basically, he did nothing to seize the job Thursday night.

Even this KC homer has altered the expectations, if you want to call them that.....no way they sniff 8-8.

I am gonna call 5-11 based on a porous OL, a bad OC, and no real #1 QB.

I'm a Chiefs homer and he did look horrible, nobody is disputing that, but with no LJ, that offense isn't going anywhere anyway. That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

I'm not sure how you can accurately judge either of these guys in that scenario, sure it is obvious that Brodie isn't going to throw for 4,000 yds and 30 TDs this year, but that isn't what is going to be asked of him when the games start to count. Huard or Croyle's main job will be to turn around and hand the rock to LJ, not win games with their arm. This also shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone on this board.

Until the other team has to defend the run instead of teeing off on a young QB with a COP back keeping them honest, I just think it is unfair to label him a bust or the team as "2006 Oakland", no matter who is behind center.

For the record, I think it will be Huard in week 1 and after we start out 1-3 or 2-2, Brodie will come in and the official "grooming for 2008" will begin. Until that happens, who knows? We had a pretty similar situation last year and lucked into the playoffs, so I wouldn't write KC off just yet.

I understand the doom and gloom re the Chiefs, but I think there is 1 thing that many are forgetting....LJ.

I saw at least 5 runs two weeks ago that went for 2-5 yards that LJ would bust for 10, 20, or more. RBs being brought down with arm tackles, etc. Don't forget how talented he is, and what a difference he can make to an offense.

I am trying to unload him in a dyansty league and last night did not help matters.
How'd ya get stuck with him? You must have a unique draft. Could go something like. Owner: 'I pick Brodie Croyle and place him on Colin's team'. That's the only explanation I can see for having Croyle.

:hot:
Somewhat intriguing I might add. Like a parallel universe draft. Could have potential. Eventually someone has to give someone esle LT.

Agree 100%.After watching Hard Knocks, I just don't see Herm as a good coach. He's tries too hard to be one of the guys instead of a leader. I'm all for the "players coach" but he's kind of like that guy who's 25 years old and still hanging out with high school kids.

You think that's funny, a guy in one of my dynasty leagues traded his 1st round rookie pick this next year for Croyle. Dude is an Alabama fan.

After watching Hard Knocks, how can Croyle concentrate on football with that ridiculously HOT wife he has at home!! :blackdot:

I honestly think KC will be one of the worst teams in the league this year. Think 2005 Jets, or 2006 Bucs.
ouch, the Jets were tied with 3 other teams for the third worst record behind the Texans and Saints. At least KC has a coach with that kind of experience. After all, it was Herm that left an already-injured Pennington in the game only to lose him for the season.

I'm a Chiefs Homer as well and was on the start Croyle bandwagon. He looked bad last night, but how can you overlook the dropped passes and lack of protection?? I now think we should go with Huard to start. The local radio guys were saying Croyle had 2 seconds in the pocket to get rid of the ball. Freaking Joe Montana couldn't succeed with that amount of time.

It's going to be a rough year unless Macintosh comes back and plays like Willie Roaf which isn't likely...
