Bronco fan joining the Steeler bandwagon (1 Viewer)

Now that the mandatory 24 hour mourning period is officially over, I would like to announce to the world my support for the Pittsburgh Steelers for the time period between now and Monday, Feb. 6. Note that this in no way will supersede my affinity for the Denver Broncos after Feb 6, and all prior allegences will resume at that time.I hereby believe that Ben Roethlisberger is a top 3 QB in the NFL. I believe that the combination of Parker and Bettis should be considered one of the best rushing attacks in the league. I believe that Cowher is capable of outcoaching the best coaches in the business. I believe that Polamalu is one of the top safeties in the league, if not the best. I respect their fans, the Steeler style of play, the tradition, the uniforms, and the opinions of all Steeler posters in this forum (excluding the ones who can't use a period when they type...you all know who I am talking about).I believe that the true NFL championship was played Jan 15, when Pittsburgh beat Indy.I will wave that terrible towel for the next two weeks proudly. Who is with me? :towelwave:

For the first time in a long time, I don't really have one team or the other I am pulling for. I'll be equally pleased for either team. I'd like to see Bettis, Ward, Cowher, and a few more of those guys win a ring. BUt I also wouldn't mind seeing the NFC make a showing and Holmgren win a 2nd ring. Colin

This Denver fan isn't rooting for anyone.I'm just going to drink a couple of beers, sit back, and enjoy a little football.

Oh, believe me, I'll be doing the same. I made a solemn vow many years ago to pull for the AFC team. At the time, the AFC got creamed every year (including my Broncos three out of the first 4 years I gave a crap about football). I guess I liked the underdog role they seemed to always have. I have carried my AFC loyalty to this day with one exception - I rooted for Tampa. My love for the AFC can be trumped only by my hatred for the raiders.

Welcome aboard the Steelers bandwagon!I was very impressed with Shanahan after the game. He handled himself very well and didn't pull any punches.Let's take down the Seahawks!WHO RIDE? :towelwave:

add me to that list.....i'm cheering for the...st..ste....stee........ok compose myself......steelers........there I said it.still not over the mourning for the broncos, but when you get beat so easily, you gotta respect the team that beat the #1,2,3 teams in the AFC on the road.and come on denver fans, just cause Seahawks are in the NFC now, how can we cheer that team after how many years they were in our division, i'd rather see the Steelers win than the Seahawks, and hell I'm in Vancouver, BC, the Seahawks are the local teams.

Broncos fans should never wave a terrible towel. Ever.I will most likely root for the Steelers in the Super Bowl, though.

Count me in! I already have 2 terrible towels since I went to college in Pittsburgh. Best gameday atmosphere I've been to is Steeler games. (And the Heinz-PNC combo is IMO the best in the country!)

Go Steelers! Beat the colts seahawks!!!! I would rather play any team at home than have to go Indy and face the colts again.

(Figured I'd just edit an earlier post of mine to save time.)

I'm just going to drink a butt-load of beers, sit back, and enjoy a little football.
fixed! Congrat's Pittsburgh and Seattle fans. Too classy franchises and a bunch of "good guys." I'll be rooting for the Steelers (in particular the Bus), but don't care too much who wins.

I'll be jumping aboard no bandwagons. (Frankly they are getting so crowded nobody up there gives a damn anyhow) I will say this though, I am looking forward to this contest more than many in recent years. I find the Steelers return to the game compelling. I like Roethlisbergers story, I like Cowher's story and the Bus' as well. This is a great storied franchise with passionate and knowledgable fans.As for Seattle I have always liked them too. Their fans seem knowledgable and easy to like. This is a team that has paid it's dues (not every team can have the history of the Packers, Bears, Giants, Steelers), and they have interesting weapons on offense and defense that make them a very good match for the Steelers. I could easily see them winning.Frankly I like the return of a missed old guard team against a new blood franchise more than I would a rehashing of recent participants.

Count me in. The Steelers and Big Ben earned my respect last Sunday. Ben reminds me of a young Elway. Completing big 3rd downs in the clutch all day.I'll be a Steeler fan on Super Bowl Sunday.

This is better than the "Ben's going to the Hall of Fame" statement. :blackdot:

I think the Elway comparisons are stretching things to the limit even for a guy who joined the forum ten minutes ago. I also didn't think the Broncos got beat bad enough to start selling their souls but whatever gets you through the day.

There is no selling of the souls here. I will never bleed blank and gold, my blood will always run orange and blue. However, I am rational enough to not hold a grudge and to respect the team that put a whoopin on the Broncos. I am also rational enough to admit that the Steelers are underrated - they truely are a strong team and I expect them to do well. Add to the fact that the steelers have done nothing which would cause me to dis-like them - how can you not be behind them if you are normally neutral?

I'm already on record for saying the Steelers are my 2nd favoite team next to the Broncos. This goes way back to the 70's. I will be rooting for the Steelers in the Superbowl also. But I cannot bring myself to wave the terrible towel.Ahh alright maybe just this once.... :towelwave:

:towelwave:Bear fan, waving thing towel for this game. No love for the Seahawks (or more specifically there coach) and to be honest, I think Cowher is one of the great coaches probably ever, in terms of doing more with less consistently. If nothing else, I hope the Steelers win for him, plus the Steelers are a pretty likable bunch. How can one not cheer for the bus?

I've been the same way. Fortunately, I don't think the Browns will ever test my resolve in continuing my pro-AFC SuperBowl stance.

Moleculo,You have been a class act since before the Pittsburgh/Denver game. I completely agree that you have to enjoy it while you can.

Thanks

Yes, congrats to the Steelers. Hell of a run to win the big game knocking off the top 3 seeds on the road. Big kudos to Cowher and The Bus. Great to see those two get their hardware.

thanks for the kind words, jerk (that didn't sound quite right, but thanks anyhow).

Congrats, Steelers fans!

Why couldn't you win the title while I was going to school in Pittsburgh a few years ago and when Denver was mediocre, though? ;)

Hopefully we'll get ya back next season. :D
