Broncos -Patriots story lines (1 Viewer)

More specifically what players will get the points or do you see a low scoring defensive struggle?

More "experts" thinks that the Titans (0-4) will be the Colts compared to those that think the Broncos (4-0) will beat the Pats. That helps explain why there isn't much discussion.

So Moss would be a decent start this game? Brady? Moreno?
Does it matter? If you have Moss or Brady, you start them.
This doesn't apply to this game but have we learned nothing about Revis? Moss is a must start in 99% of games, but people need to do a bit more research to take matchups into consideration.I think it could be higher scoring than many think - with solid fantasy days by Brady, Moss, Moreno, and Marshall IMO.

I love Revis, and feel he is either the No. 1 or No. 2 CB in the league right now, but as a Moss owner I still will start him the next time the teams macthup (I'lll gladly take a poor showing from Moss though).Moss is virtually matchup proof. As good as Revis is - for one thing he didn't cover Moss on every snap - Moss is capable of beating him for a big gain. Even the best CBs get burned sometime.

So far, New England is giving up 4.5 YPC to opposing RBs. I'd be comfortable starting Moreno.

Moss should get 2TDs this week.

I think NE's defense will do better than the Broncos defense. And I can see Orton throwing 2 INT's this game.

By your logic that WOULD apply to this game b/c when healthy Champ Bailey is still a top 5 CB in this league and he looks to be pretty healthy right now.Revis is great and he pretty much shut Moss down in week 2. But its still Randy ####### Moss. If you have him on your team like I do it means you spent an early 2nd or even a 1st round pick on him. Unless you are just unbelievably LOADED at WR you put the guy in your lineup EVERY week.If he gets shut down so be it, it happens to every player some time. But Im starting Moss against Revis, Champ, Nnamdi, whoever. I look at my matchups for ALL of my players every week but when it comes to players like Moss its just to gauge my expectations for that week. As long as he and Brady are healthy he should be in everyone's lineup every week.

Pats 30 Broncos 13

Also think BB is going to put the hammer down with the play calling and try to score as many points as possible, ala 2007 days when he would pass up the FG attempt and go for it on 4th down.

I will be surprised if the Pats can score 30 - I'm sure McDaniels has worked with Nolan on some help for the defensive side. On top of that I expect the Broncos to run on the vulnerable Pats run D and taking a lot more time off the clock. Pats still may win but I am expecting a lower scoring game - also watch the weather we are expecting a rain/snow mix in Denver for Saturday into Sunday.

As much as I hate to predict a Denver loss, I just don't feel good about this game... Pats 20 Broncos 16.

I think it will be close but I think Denver will be on the losing end. I sure hope I'm wrong.

BRONCOS TO HOST AFL LEGACY GAME AGAINST BOSTON PATRIOTS

DENVER — The Denver Broncos will host their American Football League legacy game against the Boston Patriots on Sunday at 2:15 p.m. at INVESCO Field at Mile High to commemorate 50 seasons of Broncos football. Activities and programming associated with the team's history will be present during all events surrounding the game.

During the game, Broncos players will wear throwback uniforms resembling the ones worn in 1960, which included brown helmets, mustard-yellow jerseys, seal-brown pants and yellow-and-black, vertically striped socks. Denver will wear an away version of the 1960s uniform during the team's Monday Night Football game at San Diego on Oct. 19. The Broncos' cheerleaders will wear yellow-and-brown uniforms with matching pom-poms against Boston.

Throughout the day, Broncos history will be remembered through a unique game ticket design adapted from an actual 1960 ticket; old staff uniforms; a classic car show on the east ring walkway outside the stadium featuring cars from the 1950s and 1960s (weather-permitting); black-and-white scoreboard effects; special end zone painting (occurring all season long); an appearance by the original Broncos Band at Gate 9 and on the south deck behind the south stands; and other features with traditional themes.

The first 60,000 fans attending the Broncos-Patriots game will receive a yellow throwback T-shirt (courtesy of gameday sponsor Comcast) and will be greeted at the by the Music Men of Estes Park. Coca-Cola is offering 25-cent Coca-Cola products with any purchase from a permanent concession starting at 11:15 a.m. for suite and United club level patrons and at 12:15 p.m. for reserved seat patrons. The offer ends at 2 p.m.

Pregame activities include the McPhly Quartet performing the National Anthem and a flyover by three C-130J Super Hercules planes. The aircrafts' style has a 50-year history and is primarily used for transport of troops and humanitarian aid by the U.S. Air Force. The Broncos 50th Anniversary Team, which was selected through a fan vote, also will be recognized before the game. It includes 11 offensive players, 11 defensive players and three special teams players who are being honored as all-time greats in Broncos history. The squad's first team has players from all five decades of the team's existence, two Super Bowl MVPs and one member of the current roster. For a full list of the honorees, visit DenverBroncos.com/50th.

The coin toss features two honorary captains—Broncos alum Gene Mingo and former Patriot Gino Cappelletti—who played in the AFL's inaugural game on Sept. 9, 1960. Mingo recorded the first punt return touchdown (76 yds.) in league history to lead the Broncos to a 13-10 victory while Cappelletti, who currently serves as a member of the Patriots' radio broadcast crew, kicked a field goal and an extra point in the game.

Fans can purchase a Broncos Gameday magazine at the game with a cover that is modeled after the program distributed during the 1960 Broncos-Patriots game. The caricature shows a Bronco brushing off a Patriot, reversing the original design as historic covers always favored the home squad.

At halftime, the Colorado State University Marching Band will perform. The school's band did more Broncos halftime shows than any other marching band in the 1960s.

I don't think Champ is as good as Revis right now to be honest. Furthermore, the last time Moss played the Broncos he went for 5-69-2 and that was without Brady. Obviously, the Broncos' D is playing much better now than it did last season but any upgrades there would be at least offset by the upgrade from Cassel to Brady for the Patriots. In my opinion, the only good WR the Broncos have faced this season was Chad Johnson in Week 1 and he put up 5-89-0. I don't see any reason to fear this matchup if you're a Moss owner. I don't think Champ is the shutdown CB he once was.

an interesting game with plenty of storylines and history.

Randy Moss vs. Champ Bailey

2008 at New England: Moss steamrolls Bailey's Broncos for 69 yards on five catches and two touchdowns, but Bailey left the game in the first half with a groin pull. Before he left, Moss had two catches for 18 yards.

2006 at Denver: As a Raider, Moss was blanketed and had an awful quarterback in Andrew Walter throwing to him. He finished with 86 yards on five catches, but his biggest gain -- a 51-yard catch -- came when he beat Bailey as part of double coverage.

2006 at Oakland: Moss gets one catch for 8 yards. Yawn.

2005 at Oakland: Moss scored on Bailey's Broncos, but not on Bailey. His 29-yard touchdown catch came in double coverage on the opposite side of the field from Bailey. He finished the game with six catches for 87 yards with the score. Twenty-four of those yards came directly against Bailey.

2005 at Denver: Twenty of Moss' 72 yards came directly against Bailey. He, nor his Raiders, scored a touchdown in the game.

We'd tell you about the matchups these two had against each other when Moss was in Minnesota and Bailey in Washington, but none exist. The Redskins and Vikings didn't play each other during Bailey's stint in D.C.

Lame. You can play the "should of" game with every team in the league. So many games in the NFL come down to the last possession or are won by three points or less. Just win your games. That's all that matters. The sensible Bronco fans in this thread can support that sentiment after their miraculous Week 1 win -- which counts just as much as any other.

does he cover moss all day or if moss lines up other side bailey leaves him alone?

Traditionally Bailey covers the left side of the field (QB's right). That's typically where offenses put their best WR though.

I remember that game well. Ed McCaffrey broke his leg that night and went to the hospital for surgery that night. Can you imagine waking up the morning after surgery in a hospital bed on 9-11? I mean I guess it doesn't matter where you were that morning, but I would think the events of that morning would seem even more surreal when you are still groggy from surgery.Does anyone know if the Pats are wearing old uniforms too? I still like the old Pats helmets better than the new ones.
