Broncos rookie Moreno exits with leg injury (1 Viewer)

Broncos rookie Knowshon Moreno limped to the locker room with an undisclosed leg injury during the second quarter of Friday's game.

The Broncos announced only that Moreno is questionable to return with a leg injury. He showed a very nice burst on three carries for 18 yards before his exit. Stay tuned for details. Aug. 14 - 11:08 pm et

I love this guy. I think hes the next big thing at RB. But he may be more like SJax than LT. Electric when he play, but can't seem to ever shake the injury bug.

Looked like nothing major. He hurt himself on the 2nd carry and went and made another nice carry after the hurt.

But I guess we'll know tomorrow. On the injury bug comment, has Knowshon ever gotten hurt before? I don't think he missed a game in college.

He played every game the last two years.
Go back and watch how many times he has pulled himself out of games at UGA. I hope I'm wrong. Like SJax, who is one of my favorite backs, I dont want to see Moreno looked down upon because he has a hard time staying on the field.

was it on a carry or on a int?? Moreno was not a injury ridden is college damn int injuries.
It was on the carry (contrary to what others are saying). He had a good run, got tackled, nothing special. Got up and sort of favored his leg going to the huddle and then got the next carry for limited yards. These threads are always dangerous, but I would think sprain, maybe bruise. It just didn't look all that bad, but he was favoring it a bit as he walked into the tunnel. He did refuse any ice and treatment on the sideline as the announcers reported.

Agreed. It was definitely on his 2nd carry (but nothing looked out of the ordinary). He got up gimpy, then had a nice run on the next play. He then went out & from what I can tell, had it looked at. He came back in & on a play where he dove to make a block, he came up hopping (the INT).I seriously doubt they would've let him come back in if there was any looseness in the knee, but these types of injuries are hard to define with just speculation. My guess is it isn't serious.

are we looking at a torn ACL?I know a lot of players get up fine from an ACL tear, hopefully that isn't the case.
I saw the play he came up gimpy on. I'd be shocked if it was an ACL, that thing would have to be made of tissu paper. I didn't see what happened to him on the INT though, I guess he could have made it worse or a different injury on that play.

In the game thread I posted this:

I rewound the DVR and here is what I saw.

After Moreno's 2nd run he got up right away and looked to be favoring his right leg. Did a little hop and kept walking back to the huddle. When he got there he bent forward and looked like he was adjusting his knee/thigh pad while also giving the knee a couple of bends.

He stayed in the game and got a 3rd consecutive carry. Got stuck at the line and pushed the pile forward fighting for another 3-4 yards.

He stayed out there for the next play (Orton incomplete pass), but was not on the field when Orton threw 2nd INT.

Next series Jordan was out there to start. Moreno came in on the 3rd play (false start) and showed a little hobble after the play was blown dead. On Orton's 3rd INT Moreno got pushed down by #55 (maybe #56). It didn't look too bad, but his left leg seemed to look a little bull legged as he fell.

It looked to me like the injury happened on his 2nd run, and he kept playing on it.

Al Davis has these little dolls of Denver RB's and keeps pushing the pins in them.

But you guys won't accept that and think it's a grassy knoll story.

Hah! Little do you know.

Having torn an acl, you can walk and even run on it after the injury

It's the overnight swelling that screws you up. Just gets stiff and swollen.

Good luck getting any info out of mcdaniels on this one....hopefully Moreno is just fine, and it's precautionary

Unfortunately, we'll just have wait until after the MRI tomorrow before we know the severity. Hopefully it's not serious, he looked pretty good in his 3 carries.

KOA and Colorado Springs Gazette (Frank Schwab), via Twitter feed, are reporting a sprained knee. MRI tomorrow...

This little ditty was on the CBS camp blog

Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno hurt his right knee in the second quarter and Denver coach Josh McDaniels is facing scrutiny that he might have left him in for a play after the injury.

OMG hes allready getting injured and the Coach is putting him at risk! SELL ! SELL ! SELL! SELL! OMFG OMG OMG SELL SELL SELL SELL............................................................................

.........

He's a great runner, blocker, and pass catcher, his only knock out of UGA was he pulled himself out of games occasionally without warning. He was durable and a STRONG runner, I am wishing him the best!!!!!

Preseason game 1 happened............ im not sure about his limp though. I say, draft like you would have before preseason game 1. Except bump Donald Brown up because he had an awsome preseason game 1 and let someone steal Moreno in your draft in round 12 because he got a BooBoo and the coach wanted to see if he could walk it off......

Sometimes a tear doesn't hurt immediately that much. I hope it isn't but just because he got up and walked off the field doesn't mean it wasn't a tear. If it was nothing at all then I doubt he would be getting the MRI. But we have to wait for the results to be sure.

injury didn't look like anything but lack of any news at all has me thinking it could be serious. Usually you hear something. This is nothingness. It looked like a thigh injury though thats what has me :headscratch:

Right now I think this is a 4-6 weeker and that might be optimistic -- the fact nothing is coming out and he is getting a MRI next day usually means ACL -- sucks as I got him on 2 teams.

Plenty of guys get MRIs and don't end up with an ACL tear.

Good news for Knownshon

Posted by Mike Florio on August 15, 2009 2:25 PM ET

Folks in Denver can resume breathing.

A league source tells us that an MRI on the knee of rookie running back Knowshon Moreno revealed only a sprained MCL.

We're not presently sure of the grade of the sprain. If it's Grade I, he'll be day-to-day. If it's Grade II, he could miss the rest of the preseason, and his availability for Week One could be in question.

Still, it's better than a torn ACL.
