sounds like a simple fix since it was a spider bite.OOF! AFLAC is denying claim because the doctor said it was an insect bite (not covered), if it was a spider bite it would be covered! Good Lord!>

Wait a second NCCWhere did you copy this from? Or are you a doctor? So are they saying an abnormal immune response caused the hemolytic anemia? I was thinking you were generally born with the precursors, as most of this is genetic, but that outside factors could bring on onset. One of those being abnormal immune response which would also explain the spider bite and how it is acting. Of course there are about a dozen different versions including Sickle Cell which is in this family.Anyway thoughts and best wishes with you and the family.Well Mrs Shiz is getting a picc line placed for long term antibiotics and blood. She has developed something called hemolytic anemia. I guess we have free range brown recluse spiders in our home.
Not a doctor but I did... oh never mind. I read a lot. And I'll read about anything if it catches my interest. At one point I was very interested in these family of blood diseases when we were trying to figure out what the heck was wrong with my wife so I read a lot about them. No connection but you never know until you look into it.Anyway I remembered this from my studies back then but I did go back and refresh at a couple of sources before I posted. I hope I didn't Tim anything here. I kid Tim.Wait a second NCCWhere did you copy this from? Or are you a doctor? So are they saying an abnormal immune response caused the hemolytic anemia? Oof. Sorry, man. Hope that ends up healing without too much of a scar.

She has to wait for the redness to subside before the plastic surgeon can operate. The surgeon is hoping that it will not be bad, and that the wait is to make sure he takes out enough of the necrotic tissue. This is the start of week 3.Oof. Sorry, man. Hope that ends up healing without too much of a scar.
I'd advise staying away from the wikipedia page on "necrosis", too.ugh, like an idiot i had to do it too.WTFGood luck with it all shiznitt. And a warning to anyone that google images brown recluse spider....you'll see some nasty bite pictures.
Kind of a weird response to this, IMO. These things are crazy serious. My wife has AFLAC so how much cash will I be receiving? I hope I get to make it rain.

Holy crap. Any reason we shouldn't try to exterminate that species of spider?
WTF good are those things?Wow. That's just... Wow. Thoughts with you and the wife. Jesus. Wow.http://www.flickr.com/photos/29927859@N02/?saved=1Hopefully link works. They are in reverse order.

Yes! Well it is the accident policy, short term disability policy, and hospital indemnity policy. Hopefully something will pay off to offset the copay. So far we have 2 different hospital stays. A two day and a 5 day stay. You get money for getting bite by a spider?
They hunt insects especially insects in the roach family. Love to eat them. Usually when someone gets bit by a brown recluse they stepped on them or put their hand down on them or something. They don't hunt people.'goldenchild said:'Dr. Awesome said:Holy crap. Any reason we shouldn't try to exterminate that species of spider?WTF good are those things?
As in this case, the insurance will try and make up some reason not to pay. That's how they do business. Crooked bastards.Yes! Did you see the post where they denied the claim because the doctor filed the report as an insect bite instead of a spider bite? They denied it due to the wording. Had to go back to the doctor and get a whole new report. It is really frustrating, and this is just the beginning. As in this case, the insurance will try and make up some reason not to pay. Great advice for anywhere dangerous and relatively small insects, spiders, etc. may live. Scorpions love shoes.Yeah you really have to be unlucky to be bitten by a Brown Recluse. I was told by the exterminator that they actually can't bite you unless you crush them against your bare skin. They don't hunt people. The exterminator went on to say they cannot break through a sock or underwear. So basically you have to have exposed bare skin and crush the little sucker against you. Oh, and always shake out your shoes and clothes that you keep in a closet! They love the dark of attics, garages and closets.

Yes that was my attempt at photoshop. FAIL!That one photo was seriously disturbing and scary. I don't know that I'll ever get that image out of my head. I mean, Rosie O'Donnell and Tiger? :X The spider bite pics were bad too.

No reason whatsoever to reform the healthcare system. Remain calm! All is well!OOF! AFLAC is denying claim because the doctor said it was an insect bite (not covered), if it was a spider bite it would be covered! Good Lord!>
I would like to help my friends and family avoid a similar fate. Can you describe (slowly) what she was wearing to bed that night? The exterminator went on to say they cannot break through a sock or underwear. So basically you have to have exposed bare skin and crush the little sucker against you.
I hope the doctor will not give you any grief about changing the wording, right? I can't think of another "insect" that would produce those kind of symptoms...GL and i hope your wife feels better. On a brighter note, anyway the plastic surgeon could do another "augmentation" while he is working on her leg :alwayslookingforthebrightsideofthings:Did you see the post where they denied the claim because the doctor filed the report as an insect bite instead of a spider bite? The only time I've been 100% certain that a bite was from a brown recluse was when a 18 month old came in crying after his mom had put his winter coat on for the first time in months. They found the recluse in the arm of his coat. I've seen plenty of bites that were suspicious for a spider envenomation, but that was the only time someone actually had the offender.Rooting for a full and quick recovery for you wife, Shiz.Yeah you really have to be unlucky to be bitten by a Brown Recluse.
