I like the rookie. He showed he had heart and talent while playing in the MAC. He did fairly well his first few starts (although last week was not particularly good). THe Bucs are still hanging around, and my guess is that they will stick with Gradkowski and see what they have for next year.

But Luke McCown is scheduled to come of the PUP shortly. And Simms was never placed on IR. IIRC Simms said he'd be back around Thanksgiving.

With that said, will Gradkowski (absent injury) finish the year out as the starter? Will McCown replace him? Will Simms make it back?

Do any of the Tampa homers have any insight.

McCown was never so impressive as Gradkowski. I think he gets the starts until Simms can return, at which point the decision has to do with records, playoffs, and so forth.

I don't see how we can't continue to start. The season goes 2 ways - they continue winning and you CAN'T take him out (barring injury) or they get eliminated early and plan for next season. Since it appears he is the QB of the future, he continues playing. He may not have played well at Philly, but they won and that's what Gruden needs to worry about right now.

He will continue to start but will have very very erratic fantasy stats and will be a big risk...

Grad isn't putting the stats up, but he isn't turning the ball over either. Simms was a turnover machine.

I realize Grad isn't going to be a stud this year for fantasy purposes.

I don't really think McCown is anything special. My real thought was whether Gruden thinks it may be too early and that he doesn't need the kid getting pounded on (and that Grad could learn a bit more from holding the clipboard ala Palmer).

I was also trying to figure out what happens with Simms if he can return. He is a FA at the end of the year. TB wanted to see what they had in him before he hit the market. He was awful weeks 1 and 2 (but the line was beat up). He started to come on week 3 before the injury. Does Gruden just say goodbye to Simms and let him find a job elsewhere??

I'm very tempted to give him the start this week (13) versus the Steelers. It's a home coming for him and Polyamalu (sp?) is out. Steelers will stuff the line forcing Bucco Bruce to beat them.

IRONIC MONIKERNot to tell you what to think, but teams have been doing that to the Bucs all season, and Gradkowski is still only averaging about 170/TD/2TOs a game.
