Bucaneers @ Chiefs game thread (preseason) (1 Viewer)

Different coaching plans tonight: Chiefs playing it safe, starters out early but the Bucs stayed in a bit longer.

Chiefs: Thomas Jones looked good, he hasn't hit the wall yet. Terrence Copper was targeted a bit once the back-ups were in. Tyler Palko looked really slow in his progressions, Cassell better stay healthy. They were too plain on defense to really notice much. Justin Houston looked to have a little burst rushing the passer.

Bucs: Josh Freeman looked in control. The staff seemed to be working Blount in 3rd downs a bit more than I recall last season. The defensive line seemed to get decent pressure but couldn't finish. Early in the game Ronde Barber had a nice play on a corner blitz, amazing longevity. Mason Foster looked to be all over the field, always around the ball.

Absolutely amazing effort by Baldwin on the almost catch. the ball never hit ground, but he was half out of bounds when he got full possession of it.

I'm starting to think it's a good idea to go all-in on Blount this year. I know they have bodies on the roster but for practical purposes there is no one else there to compete for touches.
I'm with you. He looked very strong and determined imo. Freeman looks like the next stud in the making

Like many, I was very skeptical of Freeman as a 1st round pick.

But everything I've seen over the last 12 months says this guy is a Franchise QB for the next decade.

What's the passing game in TB going to be like? Homers?
Not a homer. Anything new on Arrelious Benn's recovery with his knee? In the meantime, Dezmon Briscoe had a solid game tonight. Freeman could light it up, throwing to Williams, Benn and Briscoe.

Todd haley said before the game they were going to approach it more like a practice than a real game because they were not ready conditioning wise...what an idiot. I doubt BB would ever mutter that to a reporter on the sideline pregame. Even if you plan on that you don't announce it. Bucs 25-0 but Chiefs were approaching it like a practice. Either way the Bucs wer the better team and I don't think if it were a real game that it would make much difference last night.

Impressed with Briscoe, looks like a perfect WR2/3 for that team. Big guy who could be a dynamite red zone option. Bucs are quickly becoming the team you don't want to see on Sundays. Something special brewng down there, maybe not this year but pretty soon, real soon, its going to be the Bucs on top in the NFC South even with all that competition. Their defense is way better than Atlanta and New Orleans IMO.
