Some big tune players on there but only Winfield is out as of tonight; will have more to say on impact of injuries after the Friday report.

Baker played really well week one, building off a nice year last year. This Buc’s team has a great roster and has playmakers on both sides. This will be every bit as tough of a matchup as last week, if not more.

Everyone (including me) seems to think this is going to be another close game. Vegas seems to disagree slightly. Point spread is up to 7.5 and Lions moneyline is a rather hefty -375. I'm guessing it's the injuries to Bucs secondary?

7.5 seems crazy to me, although I do not know the specifics on the Buc’s injuries.

I also have this being pretty close, not accounting for injuries, more like a 4 point spread or something. I don't think the injuries in the secondary are worth another 3.5 points. Don't feel strongly about it but I like the Bucs getting more than a TD. Are the Bucs that much worse than the beat-up Rams team that Detroit faced last week and beat in OT?

Winfield is a significant loss, and I know they had hoped Kancy would be able to go this week.

Still got Vita Vea, who we had a lot of issues with both games last year.

Bucs Offense was humming Week 1 while Detroit was sluggish, Goff was not up to his usual outstanding-at-home standard. ARSB had his worst game since Week 3 of his rookie year. Aaron Glenn was slow to adjust coverages (Stafford had a good presnap read from motion on 90% + of his drop backs.)

Still, the OL and the run game were excellent, and the defense is vastly improved. Still putting their own DBs under stress - in man coverage 45%, 4th highest of the week - but CDIII and Arnold handled it well IMO. A lot of the Rams completions were protected looks underneath to Kupp, won't see that again unless we play the Rams in the playoffs. Familiar story with the pass rush; 3rd in pressures, had a hard time getting home - though give credit where it is due, Stafford was great at getting the ball out quick. "Only 3 sacks" but felt like it could have been a lot more.

Critical pracice report today - RT Penei Sewell and ED Marcus Davenport did not practice on Wed & Thu.

Regardless of who plays, Bucs are a tough out, and casual MSM is pretty slow to recognize Baker continues to excel. Should be a close game between two likely division winners.

Bucs and Baker are being disrespected.
And they love it.
They have concerns in their secondary this week.
But I think they have the next man up mantra and will play well.
Lions are more talented for sure and if they played four games in a row I think The Lions would win three of them.
Detroit has become a tough environment for visiting teams to play at but The Bucs will give Detroit all they can handle.
I'd take the points for sure...

In overtime...

Surprised there was no discussion on the controvery of how the Lions cheated being camouflaged in their blueberries. Maybe we should just call those uniforms their camos.

I believe the Lions will be debuting their black uniforms this week. I want to see them on the field, there are things that are super cool with them like the logo, but just not sure on their overall appearance yet.

Not liking the Bucs' chances. Backup RT against Hutch is no bueno. If Sewell is also out that would even things up a bit.

My parlays for this week:

Jamo 100 recieving
Jamo TD
Saint TD

For +1980

Then I added

Detroit Defense TD
For +15800

Would have added a Detroit win, but the +7.5 is high for an NFL game.

@davebirkett

Didn't see Marcus Davenport at Lions practice today. Penei Sewell was back. Based on his comments the other day, expect he plays. But he didn't take part in the Lions' every-Friday light OL running routes on air at the start of practice.

The Lions are temporarily elevating a pair of receivers off the team’s practice squad, Tom Kennedy and Tim Patrick. Rookie WR Isaiah Williams was declared out on Friday’s injury report.

With Calijah Kancey out and Logan Hall questionable to play against the Lions, the Bucs have once again elevated defensive linemen C.J. Brewer and Mike Greene from the practice squad.

Vegas must be forecasting a pick 6 or 2 and 3 to 4 turnovers by Mayfield. Vegas is definitely baiting the public to take TB spread points. Feels like we do not know something. Detroit feels like a pretty complete contender.
Yes, this line stinks. But I’m running towards the stink…Bucs +7 & the happy hook

 We all seem to hate the spread here. I've been looking at it all week. Playoff result was 8, but it is a new year and I like Tampa's chances.

Bucs will be missing at least 4 starters, Detroit will likely be without Marcus Davenport.

Word is Sewell has been saying he's playing, but we'll see if the medical staff agrees. HAS is no joke, best thing is to let it rest. Looked like he got rolled up twice by other players on the game winning drive in OT. Skipper is big drop off but he's filled in before and been more than adequate.

Jamo is likely to go, although I am thinking they'll be featuring ARSB & LaPorta on in breaking routes. Also suspect they have a package for Kalif Raymond - zero targets last week, both Dan Campbell and Ben Johnson name checked him in press conferences this week. Little known outside Detroit, he was the first player Brad Holmes offered an extension. Hard working teammate, great block, 4.34 speed. Ripped off a 13 yarder to start the OT drive last week, might see 4-5 targets today.

Tampa Bay is a tough out. We'll need some breaks to get by them, but they're not quite the same without Kancey and Winfield.

Officiating assignment: Clay Martin’s crew. He officiated two Lions games in 2023, including the team’s 20-6 win over Tampa Bay in Week 6.

Last meeting: The Lions beat the Buccaneers, 31-23, in the Divisional Round of last year’s playoffs.

Zyon McCollum has cleared concussion protocol and is expected to play.

Goedeke, Winfield, and Kancey are all out.

I am out in California and watched Indiana just thrash UCLA and it reminded me that Eric Bieniemy was who the experts thought the Lions should have hired instead of this meathead we got.

Start White or flex for Likely or McBride? It's ppr so could see a lot of dump offs, but not much rushing.
