Bucs offer fans televised games; Jags offer free beerBy Dan Hanzus

Unless you follow the Miami Dolphins (who's happier than this guy?), these are grim times to be a professional football fan in Florida.

Both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are floating facedown in the Atlantic with an 0-3 record. On Thursday, the two teams took very different paths to stimulate their downtrodden fan bases.

The Bucs announced, rather proudly, that they're projected to meet the league threshold of 85 percent of tickets sold for the team's remaining seven home games, thus ensuring that all home games will be televised locally in 2013.

"In appreciation for the loyal support of our fans throughout the Tampa Bay area, we have committed to televise the remaining seven home games of the 2013 season," said Bryan Glazer, the team's co-chairman.

Blackouts have been common for the Bucs in recent years. The murky wording in the team's statement tells us the Bucs likely will be forced to gobble up thousands of tickets to meet the minimum threshold.

The Jags, meanwhile, have opted to shoot straight during these trying times. Please come watch Blaine Gabbert. We will feed you beer.

Jacksonville Jaguars @jaguars

I don't post much and its probly for a good reason but if Farve is in game shape the jags should take a look. Better than that bring in Freeman and run the read option. My 2 cents and a six pack.

Why would they do any of that? They're rebuilding and will draft a QB.

What's being considered is televising the Red Zone channel on the widescreen TV in the Jaguars stadium. That might be a bad idea, people will be craning their necks upward instead of watching, you know, the game on the field. Heck, I could see the players on the sidelines gaping up at the big screen. Good football with constant scoring is addicting. Well at least the fans in Jacksonville get to have a free beer to cry in. Now that was a good idea!

Not sure if every team has done this, but Bears season ticket holders got the full NFL rewind for free ($70)

Senior citizens just don't care that much about football. The state of Florida should not have 3 football teams.

This article is horribly incorrect.

Jacksonville and Tampa Bay are both on the Gulf of Mexico.
Jacksonville was still on the Atlantic last time I looked.

If the Jaguars really wanted to show their fans some appreciation they should offer all season tickets holder, that have bought for 2 years or more, free parking, free hot dog/nacho, and one free drink to every game. The product they put on the field is so bad. With the way our legal system works these days I honestly think the Jag fans could sue the team and get their money back or have them locked up for grand larceny.
