Bucs vs Chiefs - 10 PA or 3 PA? Stat Correction Coming? (1 Viewer)

Chiefs blocked the Bucs punt, punter recovered the ball in the endzone ran it out and threw a pick to the Chiefs who ran it in for a TD.

Is this going to get changed since the Bucs were the offensive team on the field?

Yes, very interested in how this should be scored. I would agree that the Bucs offence was on the field and Chiefs DST was on the field.

For those few that started the Chiefs DST today, they ought to be credited with a defensive score, I would have thought.

That's what I was thinking, it's currently at 10 PA, it should change to 3PA.

I'm currently losing and with this change I would win!

Isn't almost every league points against the team counts against the dst? Not just points against the teams actual defense on the field. Thought it has always been that way

I've never seen it be any other way. I would be shocked if it ended up being 3 PA, but I guess that would depend on league scoring (just none that I have ever been in counted it that way).

Never played in a league where the defense doesn't have every point scored count against them. Don't pick 6s count against the D in your league?

It depends on how your league is set up. On CBS, if you set things up as Defensive Points Against, only the points scored when the defense is on the field count against the actual defense.

Now the question I have is who gets credit for the Kansas City touchdown??? Shouldn't it be the KC defense/special teams? Who else could it be? For those that started the KC DST, this is important as they'll want the touchdown and, I think, should get it.

I know that Yahoo only counts the points scored against the D/ST.

Presumably the Texans DST will get credited on CBS for this blocked punt for TD??!!

Yes, they just did...

Do you think Safeties should count against the defense??
Not necessarily, but they do and it's not enough of a factor for me to care about.
Really? To each their own, I suppose. But I can't imagine playing in a league that didn't care about scoring accuracy.

It's pretty standard.

Why wouldn't a pick 6 count against your DST? As soon as that ball is intercepted it's a change of possession. The offensive players are now your defense. If they let the ball get run back for a TD, it counts.

Maybe it was standard in the 1990s, but not anymore.

Looking at the league I commish the only way to turn them off is by also turning off pick 6s. No thanks.

that's your own preference, we don't count TO scores against our defense in my main leagues.

Scoring plays that should never be counted against the D/ST:

- interceptions returned for touchdowns

- fumble return touchdowns (against the offense)

- safeties (unless it was scored against the D/ST)

Grey Areas:

- PATs after interception or fumble returns (why punish the D/ST when the offense gave up the TD??)

- blocked field goal TDs (for example, Yahoo doesn't count them)

- blocked punt TDs (Yahoo does count them, but I can see the argument against it)

- missed field goal return TDs

To those of you who believe that INT returns should be counted against the D/ST, please answer this question: do you also believe that fake field goal TDs should count as "special teams" touchdowns?

No it shouldn't because it was not a special teams play, It's an offensive play. Special teams doesn't get credit for a fg, do they? No.

After thinking about it more I can see the argument for ints and fumble returns. A dst is credited with the score, so how can another dst be charged with giving up the points. 2 dsts were not on the field together, so my previous change of possession argument is flawed.

You can throw a forward pass AFTER a punt is blocked? That seems insane to me.
I think they ruled it a fumble. At least that's whats showing up in the box score. FOURTH QUARTER KC TB TD 14:01 Edgar Jones 11 Yd Fumble Return (Ryan Succop Kick) 10 21
I think it has to do with the ball not going past the line of scrimmage....as long as it doesn't, you can still basically do anything you want with the ball....kick it again, pass it, etc....to me that was in interception, not a fumble.....and possibly one of the dumbest things I have ever seen a punter do......which just baffles me that this could happen at the pro level.....middle school punters go over situations like this and know to just somehow take the safety.....the fact that an NFL punter does not not know what to do inthis situation is crazy....they only have to know about 5% of what other NFL players need to know and he can't get it right...
