OK, I like to look on the optimistic side of things usually, but......with New England coming to town and Marshawn most likely Out (and JP at QB - cough), do we even want to watch this game?? This could be potentially very painful and in Prime Time no less......

Even if it is painful, it's not like they will be the only ones getting trounced by New England this year. I really want to see the Bills faithful show up like they did against Dallas. Buffalo hung around with NE, if only for a quarter in the first matchup this year at NE. Anything can happen. I just want to see the crowd show up and be a force. The 12th man must play a big role in that game.

To even have a chance we need to control the clock with Lynch getting the ball 25- 30 times and....oh wait.....nevermind. Well the only hope we have is J.P. throwing deep to Evans for a couple lucky TDs to keep it within 21. Which BTW, Edwards was unable to do. At all.

ETA: lucky because I'm sure BB knows the only weapon on the offense with Lynch out is Evans

New England's too good to hope for anything more than an entertaining game and fantasy points for your players. The Bills have nothing to lose in this game. They will play hard and the crowd will be rocking, I'm looking forward to seeing them on national tv again.

I'm so sick of the JP haters... Come on man, this kid hasn't even started for two full seasons. What I hate about alot of Bills fans is how quickly they are to write someone off or throw someone under the bus. This kind of stuff doesn't happen over night. He's shown flashes that he can be a good QB. He's also shown inconsistencies and made mistakes. He's started about 25 games, had how many different coaches and personnel changes? He's been through alot of adversity with that, the Holcomb/Losman platoon, the injury, and now this year's injury and the platoon between him and Edwards. Maybe we should cut him some slack before we label "BUST" on him. Things COULD be worse. He had a solid year last year and we almost made the playoffs. Look at Brees, he sucked until Rivers was drafted, then look. It takes TIME. TIME AND PATIENCE. If you can do better, do it.

good test for JP with nobody expecting much from him.

no Marshawn Lynch opens up an opportunity to see what Wright can do with a bigger workload.

Bills pass rush needs to have the best game of the season if they have any hope of keeping this close.

:blackdot: I'll be there.

Bills get no respect.....21st in the league according to some FBG profit. Behind two teams with the same and six with a worse record.

O well....

I thought Thomas is starting?

link?I don't think there's been an announcement. I've read some speculation that Wright would see most of the work on 1st and 2nd down while Thomas would come in on 3rd down.Thomas looks slow this year. I think Wright is the better RB right now, but the experience of Thomas likely gives him an edge as a blocker, so the Bills may play him more to try and keep the Patriots blitzers off the QB.

Don't forget about Fred Jackson too - he had an eyebrow-raising preseason. I think it will be mainly Wright getting the carries, but Jackson looked impressive in preseason. We'll see.

I'll be there and be the 12th man but - that will be the beer talking for me.

I really wish Marshawn would play. I'd have way more hope.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Bills actually upset the Patriots. This is a divisional game and when those 4 teams play one another, freaky stuff happens. Pats might be too good this year but I'd be watching Brady's knee if they run up the score. That's all I'll say on that matter.

I was at that game and the crowd was unbelievable.

I think it will be a heavy dose of Wright on 1st and 2nd down and Thomas on 3rd down.

I think Jackson will get some touches but this will be Wright's opportunity.

I am really looking forward to seeing how Wright plays. I hope they give him enough time to get in a groove because I think he could be a real suprise especially since the Patriots have no film on him. I remember during training camp the Bills coaches were surprised by how much speed and power he had that they didn't really see on film.

Either way...I hope the Bills win the coin toss....McGee gets a solid return and they score some points on the first drive. And then if they can get the Pats to go 3 and out on their first drive I think the stadium will collapse.

He's who I'd rather see. Wright/Thomas don't look like the answer...
 :goodposting: I agree with everything here. I'd like Wright to be a good answer, but I've been impressed with Jackson every time he's been given an opportunity. I'm not quite sure why the Bills haven't worked him in more. He was sensational with the ball in his hands, both running and receiving. And one more thing to add to the Losman issue; he's also had a terrible O-line for most of his time so far. It's a little better this year, but still nothing spectacular. He developed some bad habits and got antsy too quickly because the O-line has leaked like a screen door on a sub for a decade now. Look how Derek Anderson is suddenly a stud in Cleveland now that their offensive line is one of the best in the league. Losman has not been given a fair shot by both the Buffalo organization and many of the fans.

I wuld like to see what Fred jackson could do too....Hopefully they give him some touches....but if Marshawn is out I expect to see Buffalo to try to sling it out. Hopefully Jauron is trying to pull a fast one on NE and Lynch will play...I doubt it cause that is not his style but it would be nice

C'mon, Bills, primetime, we all saw what they did to the cowboys.

Brady is gonna wonder what hit him.

I'm with Berman on this one...no one circles the wagons like the BUFFALO BILLS.

I am actually hoping that if the game does become a blowout, we will catch a glimpse of a female streaker before the director cuts away. There's a really cute blonde with seasons in the first row who really likes her Blue.

You may live in Buffalo but you are not a fan with an attitude like that.I don't think anyone on the Bills would start for NE, but at the same time there is plenty of positives heading into the game.1. It is a home game, at night2. Second time facing NE this year3. Bills have momentum and NE may have lost some due to the bye week and letdown after winning in IndyThe Bills could easily lose 49-7, but it is also a possibility that they get enough defensive and special teams plays to give them a chance to win in the 4th quarter. The Bills secondary has been playing great the last few weeks, and if they could get a big hit on a WR that might set the tone for the game.Edwards is a good prospect, but I like a more seasoned QB against a team like NE. Plus, Evans is the main weapon on offense and Edwards has poor chemistry with him. I haven't seen Edwards in bad weather, but Losman is very good in the wind, and I can see Edwards struggling with the elements. Plus, the team is behind Losman, because if you play Edwards you are playing for next year, and no team wants to do that.

Here's an interesting question for fellow Bills fans...

Would you rather they win this game, or make the playoffs?

For me, I was having a hard time deciding until I thought of the possibility that they could become the one and only team that kept the mighty Pats from a perfect season. That, combined with the fact that they would be a LONG shot in the playoffs, makes me want this game more.

I'd take the playoffs in a second

If anyone's going to take Brady out, it's going to be buffalo. I'd not be surprised if this is the last game Tom plays all year.....just sayin'......

I think that Buffalo is too classy of a team to pull something like that. Even if their were guys on the team that would do something like this, it would be far more likely to happen to Vince Wilfork than Brady. There's DEFINITELY bad blood from a few incidents with Wilfork.

I can't believe A Train is getting the start. I only assume becasue they think he is the better blocker, not the better runner.

from Chris Brown's Bills blog today:
INJURY UPDATE: Marshawn Lynch was listed as doubtful for Sunday night after not practicing again Friday. He may try to test his ankle out Saturday, but **** Jauron was doubtful that even that would happen. Anthony Thomas is expected to see the bulk of the work in Lynch's absence as it would be a shock at this point if Lynch played.
I don't think anybody knows for sure which RB will see the most work.

This is exactly why IMO. Limit the pass pressure as much as possible, otherwise JP will be forced into mistakes. The key for the Bills in this game is to not turn the ball over.

Absolutely the playoffs.

Leave hell no, it was my Birthday too....what a night. I was there representing the Cowboys and kept saying the game wasn't over. Honestly, there must have been about 15000 Cowboy fans. It was fun, hostile, loud and we stood the entire game. Tons of fights too. I couldn't believe it. I had been to Lions games before and had no idea what I was missing. I will never forget that night.

I am truly a fan - had season tickets for years (a bunch of not-so-great years, I might add) - only let them go when we had our first child......just wanted to open this up for discussion and looking for you guys to all give me the strength to hope, which you did - Thanks! P.S. My husband will be there Sun night cheering his heart out - I would be but someone has to watch the little ones.... :lmao:

I still remember the 1st game of 2006 when the Bills SHOULD HAVE beaten the Patriots. I'm sure many of you fans remember that as well. We were within 5 in 2005. In 2003 we blew them out 31-0.

It's possible. The craziest things happen.

2002: Game #1. Lost 7-38

2002: Game #2. Lost 17-27

2003: Game #1. Won 31-0

2003: Game #2. Lost 0-31

2004: Game #1. Lost 17-31

2004: Game #2. Lost 6-29

2005: Game #1. Lost 16-21

2005: Game #2. Lost 7-35

2006: Game #1. Lost 17-19

2006: Game #2. Lost 6-28

2007: Game #1. Lost 7-38.

We've been blown out the past 2 games. Time for things to change. Blowout, close, blowout (in our favor for a change), blowout, moderate difference, blowout, close, blowout, close, blowout, blowout. History repeats itself... looks like it will be a moderate gap between the scores, nothing huge. Hopefully we can turn that into a huge upset since we're home for another primetime game.

Or maybe I'm stretching too much. Hey, I'm a Bills fan, gotta try ;)

I'd have to say Lynch > MaroneyWhitner would start. It would be hard to see McGee not AT LEAST returning kicks, I'd be hard pressed to believe he wouldn't at LEAST be #2 CB. Lee Evans > Welker/StallworthSchobel is a studPoz/Crowell while young are going to be VERY GOOD and could push the older, veteran, slower LBs that Pats have.

Kelly and Thurman didn't play in the 1993 Wildcard game against HOU. 41-38!!! -just sayin' :wall:
Kelly only missed the comeback part in the 4th quarter when Frank Reich lead the team to the biggest playoff comeback of all time. so ya, anything could happen but more important are then games after this week vs. teams like Jax and Cleveland who both need to be passed for a wildcard spot.

Reich started and played the whole game. Per Wikipedia An interesting readThe Bills and Oilers had faced each other for the final game of the regular season, with Houston defeating Buffalo, 27-3 in Houston. During that game, Bills starting quarterback Jim Kelly suffered strained ligaments in his knee, leaving backup quarterback Frank Reich to finish the game in his place. With Kelly out, Reich took the reins starting in place of Kelly the following week in the wild card game. Buffalo hosted Houston, having a better record. Reich also started the following divisional playoff game in Pittsburgh in which Buffalo also won 24-3, then advancing to the AFC Championship game the following week versus the Miami Dolphins.
