Buffalo def scheme (1 Viewer)

I thought they used a 4-3 with Poz in the middle. Read that Mike Peterson could start in the middle next to Poz. So did they switch to a 3-4?

Buffalo won't be running a 3-4 front. I'd bet the note was implying that one would play in the middle and one outside. If the source specifically mentioned a 3-4, that would be big news for the defensive line. Link?

I heard (from a Buffalo native/fan who reads all their blogs) that Mike Peterson was planning a visit to Buffalo for a starting LB spot and to mentor the young Poz. There was only "rumor and speculation" on the blogs that Poz would move to OLB and Peterson was going MLB. Nothing from any source was reported other than a visit was planned. Nothing definitive if it was SLB or WLB.

Rotoworld also picked up on a Buffalo News (I believe) article about the planned visit and then "implied" the same thing - Peterson @ MLB & Poz @ OLB (Rotoworld usually takes those kind of liberties in their "blue" analysis part)....

I guess we'll have to wait to see if Peterson signs there to get anything more definitive.

Here is the article that Fighting Noles was refering to and this is the original piece that I saw...and as a Poz owner, should I be worried?

From Rotoworld:

Mike Peterson-LB- Jaguars Mar. 6 - 7:45 pm et

Free agents LB Mike Peterson and DE Jason Babin visited with the Bills on Friday.

Peterson, 33, would likely start in the middle next to Paul Posluzny. Babin is a journeyman at this stage of his career. He'd likely battle for a roster spot.

It's not unreasonable to speculate that Peterson would play MLB and Posluszny outside. Peterson has experience as an OLB, though, including a number of seasons earlier in his career in a Tampa-2 defense. It's questionable whether he's good enough to drop in coverage as the MLB does in a Tampa-2, so he could end up back on the outside or push the Bills to use fewer Tampa-2 play calls. It's not great news for Posluszny that the team is bringing in players that will compete for tackles, but he may still come out of this with solid LB2 value. I think his relatively poor production in the face of decent opportunity and a shaky pair of OLB worries me as much or more than a Peterson signing. I'm having difficulty projecting clear LB1 numbers for him.
