Buffalo Wild Wings hates Frostillicus (1 Viewer)

Last night I went to dinner at BW3 with my parents and daughter. I ordered a beer when we arrived at 6:15, and another at 6:45 when we ordered. As we were finishing up at 7:30 I tried to order one more, and was told "Buffalo Wild Wings has a new policy on how many beers a customer can order per hour, would you like a water or something else instead."

When I inquired further, I was told the new policy is chain-wide, and limits a customer to one beer per hour. Obviously there is some wiggle room, because I was able to order my first two in a half hour span, but doesn't this seem a little heavy handed?

I understand limiting patrons in the bar who have been drinking for hours and have to drive, but I was having a few beers with dinner and wasn't driving.

Has anybody heard about this or experienced it? I can't imagine the reactions from bar patrons is going to be very positive.

I wonder what would have happened if I had ordered a shot after being "cut off" from my beer order.

Order a pitcher, yes you will look like a lush in front of your daught but you will be a hero to all the other guys that are waiting for beer.

That's what America is turning into. Won't be long till BWW has stop watches on their steins.

Three boom king posts in this thread and not one linking us to a seductive BWW waitress giving us the "Are my boobs to big for this shirt?" look.

so what happens if a large group of guys meet up for beers and wings on a football Sunday(with a DD of course) and are told this?? They would walk right the f out of there.. good business plan...

Before bars became corporations with franchises this never happened. They only cut you off when you couldn't pay your tab on time.

They seemed pretty okay with myself and a group of friends getting hammered there last Thursday watching the NFL draft.

Have your parents order beer and you can drink it...or find another place. They must have lost a law suit to change this policy.

This is what I'm thinking. A sports bar without the bar is worthless.Anybody wanna go in on a new wing chain also with a lot of TVs, with cheap beer that you can drink all day, and maybe some skanky waitresses? We'll be RICH!

I'm guessing they're trying to limit the number of guzzling drunks to their establishments in order to limit their liability. In the meantime, their profits will tank.

That would be a terrible policy, if true. I have a friend who just started managing at one a few months back, and I just texted him, asking him if this is true. Will report back when I hear back from him...

Numerous google searches for BWW and "new alcohol policy" and "one beer per hour" brought up nothing.
I couldn't find anything either, which is why I'm so confused. If I had been there for hours with a group of people and it was late and we were in the bar or something I could chalk it up to being cut off, whether I agreed with it or not. But I was only there for a little over an hour and only had two drinks with dinner. The waitress also explicitely told me that it was a franchise-wide policy.I posted this really hoping somebody else could confirm. Now I'm even more shuked.

I've been researching hospitality markets (hotels, restaurants, bars, etc) to add to my portfolio, and BW3's is on my watch list. Here's an old article (2009) linked from my broker's website:

ServSafe Alcohol Applauds Buffalo Wild Wings, Inc.

Doesn't address the OP, but does show that the company is trying to be "responsible."

responsibly out of business that is.

I have been to a number of BWWs and have had 3-4 20oz beers with a table of guys drinking the same amount without a problem.

so.... someone else in your group ordered a beer for you, right? If not, they are the ones with the problem.

I really want to like BW3, but my local restaurant has been irritating me more with each visit.

We took our kids there on a Thurs, they got kids meals, Mrs and I got the boneless special. They normally offer the kids ranch or blue cheese, but when I said I'd use my son's blue cheese since he wouldn't, the waitress said it didn't come with the kids meals since it was boneless Thurs. and we'd have to pay for it. :goodposting: I then asked her if the kids would be offered dressing had they came in alone and ordered kids meals. She still insisted they wouldn't. Whatever, she may have been PMSing.

Went there this weekend, ordered some naked tenders (I'm on a slight health kick). They took the regular sized portion divided by two and cut the pieces in half, yet the price remains the same. I basically paid $8 for some nibbles of dried up chicken breast since they cut the chicken before cooking.

If that Asian Zing sauce didn't have crack in it, I'd be so done with that place. Damn you BWW!

My buddy says this is not true. He didn't elaborate; he just said it wasn't true.
