Footballguy
Been participating in leagues for about 8 years.Have been running my own for about 5 years.Have always done redraft in the past but getting bored with it and want to start a Dynasty League. :football: My problem is that I'm not really sure where to get started on rules, etc. I'd really appreciate it if some folks could post their Dynasty League rules here and point out any that you think are particularly important or ones that are unique and make your league stand out? Any other advice for getting a league started and taking a bunch of redraft guys and teaching them / getting them interested in a Dynasty League?TIA!

I've been reading thru all the threads on rules. One thing I have not been able to find with a clear answer is how to handle the initial draft/auction for a beginning dynasty league using a salary cap. Do you have a regular draft and then assign salaries and let the owners choose the length of the contract or do you have to have an auction?

Good question as I am starting up a salary cap league as well this year.I'm handling it by having a salary cap of $400 with an initial auction that includes vets and rookies. Mine has each player receiving a 3-year contract with that salary then at the end of the 3rd season they have options to resign/release/etc.

I've also read some where you can have a draft and assign salaries based on draft position or to have some owners sit down and assign salaries before the draft.

Borrowed a lot from the Red Eye Fantasy League Bob Henry has that is very good to look from for a salary league. Not sure what it is but there are some rules posted up for my salary league here

These are the rules to a league that had a rookie draft, veteran draft with salary cap and contract years.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/bobszel/CDFL..._League_Ru.html

Lehigh,

Here's the URL to the dynasty league I started and have run for 14 years. It has an auction, rookie draft, salary cap, player contracts, franchise/transitional player tags, offseason free agency bidding for tagged players, option years for player contracts, reserve/minor league squad for rookie selected after the first round, etc..

Click on Rules to read our legal manuscript. It's not as insane as it seems, but when you play with as many characters as we have in our league over the years, you find yourself writing more and more rules in an attempt to close any loophole that owners may try to exploit knowingly or not. :)

PM me if you have any questions or need help with your league's setup.

Good luck!
