BURRESS SHOOTS HIMSELF IN THE LEG, ACCIDENTALLY

Posted by Mike Florio on November 29, 2008, 11:05 a.m. EST

Multiple sources tell us that Giants receiver Plaxico Burress has shot himself in the leg.

Apparently, Burress was carrying a loaded gun. And the gun went off.

The incident happened on Friday night/Saturday morning. His condition currently isn’t known.

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com also is reporting this one, and he’ll soon have a story up with additional details.

Though at this point the player’s health and well being is the primary concern, what the hell was he doing with a loaded gun?

It also remains to be seen whether he faces charges for carrying the loaded gun, and whether he ultimately encounters scrutiny from the league for violating the Personal Conduct Policy.

UPDATE: Glazer reports that Burress spent the night in the hospital, and that his injuries are not life threatening. Per Glazer, the team is still gathering information regarding the incident.

At least it isn't life threatening.

But on to more importanty things...is Toomer or S Moss is the smart pickup?

Too funny. I just picked up Hixon, he may have decent value.

He was just prepping for his next encounter with Pacman Jones. Nothing more than a pro doing solid preparation and suffering an injury in the process.

Somehow I suspect we will find out that there's more to the story than that he "accidentally" shot himself in the leg.

just wow... at one time I had Hix in every league I played him... but then dumped him because he wasn't getting a chance.

At least I kept him in one 16 teamer.

What the cost to get rid of Plax for NY... because what ever it is its worth it... guy is a mess

lol...whats even better I can't cut his ### in yahoo leagues.

Hixon was a good fill in for him on his injured off days, now Hixon is a MUST get off waivers. Don't be surprised to have Hixon score like a WR 2 from here on out.

It was only a matter of time, the guy has been shooting his career in the foot all season long.

why is he carrying a gun  piece of ####
Why does merely carrying a gun make him a piece of ####?
A meathead with a history of domestic incidents carrying a gun that he can't even safely prevent from shooting himself is the very definition of a POS.
That wasn't what he said. He said carrying gun = POS. Domestic incidents and other stuff might make him a POS. Not knowing how to properly handle a gun just makes him an idiot.

Man if I were a Giant fan I would hate this guy with a passion. They are doing just about everything as perfectly as an organization can these days, and this loser is trying to single-handedly eff it up.

You're reading too little into what he said, likely because you're a huge gun-owner's rights fan and you're paranoid about the slightest hint of anyone saying or implying anything negative about guns. Take your pill and count to 20.

Trying hard not to hate on the guy too much considering what he did for the team and what he played through last season. Trying hard...
