Burress unexpectedly practices Wednesday
Plaxico Burress, WR NYG
News: Giants WR Plaxico Burress practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, less than an hour after coach Tom Coughlin said a persistent ankle injury would prevent him from working out. The injury has prevented Burress from practicing almost the entire first half of the season, and the routine did not appear likely to change with the Giants coming off a bye week. But Burress approached Coughlin after the morning walkthrough and asked if he could try to practice for the first time since Sept. 12. "He went out with the intent of going through the individual drills," Coughlin said. "He felt good after those, and we let him run one of every three or four plays for the first half of practice. He did well working under some limitations, like no jumping."
Analysis: The team teased Burress during the workout. "The first ball I caught in practice, all my teammates started clapping,"
said Burress, who has caught 37 passes for 564 yards and a team-high eight touchdowns. "I guess they got a big kick out of that and it was kind of funny." With a week off because of the bye, Burress felt that Wednesday would be a good day to get some work with quarterback Eli Manning prior to Sunday's showdown with the Dallas Cowboys. "I did all the new plays, the wrinkles in the offense, some new formations and things like that," Burress said. This is great news. Burress is coming off some poor performances and the extra practice only can helps. In his first game against Dallas this season, he totaled 144 yards and three touchdowns. Consider him a No. 1 Fantasy WR for Week 10.
