Buster Davis looks like a man child. He has two sacks and numerous tackles. My question is at 5'10" 240 how do you think he will project as a pro. It almost looks like he has a gut forming, but I have not seen it hinder his quickness. I would guess that he won't run the best 40 but do you see him as a middle linebacker in the pros, and what round do you see him being drafted?

It's pretty early to try and evaluate any college players. He could kill himself in the 40 like Parham did this year. It may not matter. If I had to guess right now, I think he's a first day prospect, barely, late 3rd rounder. Patrick Willis is very much like DeMeco Ryans, and should be the top ILB in next year's draft. After that it gets pretty murky, but I like Desmond Bishop and HB Blades more than Davis. Nice game tonight though. If he keeps it up all year his stock will rise.

All you need to know is FSU defense. They seem to always produce studs. If he keeps up at this level...1st rounder (maybe a team will reach). I'm not worried about the height with an ILB. The guy is built like a wall and he's already got the advantage of being lower than the guy running the ball...unless the guy running the ball is Maurice Drew! :D

I'll reverse my opinion again. The above, which came first, is more accurate than the later praise for Davis. There may be little reason to draft IDPs in next year's rookie drafts. I doubt there will be a quarter as many nice prospects as entered the league this year. There's some, and they will be rightfully hyped. Patrick Willis mentioned above should be good. But there will be many others hyped, just to round out the class, and I think the talent level is way down. I'm bumping this because I'm watching Pitt destroy UCF. Pitt's HB Blades is a better ILB prospect than Davis, and even he seems lacking something.

Lofa Tatupu Position: MLB

Height: 6-0

Weight: 238

:lmao:

If Lofa's 5'10" it's a miracle.

The key is whether the guy can move, and of course is he tough and does he have football instincts. Zach Thomas, Tatupu and (apparently, so far) Ryans appear to have those attributes. If he doesn't have all of them, then it's not going to work out.

I would agree Patrick Willis and H.B. Blades should be ranked at the very top of the MLB prospects.Apart from that the group looks pretty thin on the surface. However, I see some not so often mentioned names that could be very good as MLB's although not as high profile as the ones already mentioned:Oscar Lua, USCAnthony Waters, ClemsonDed Harrington, MissouriDesmond Bishop, CaliforniaApart from the high profile names that's on everybodys watch list here are some other LB's (not only MLB's) that have caught my eye so far:Jonathan Goff, LB, VanderbiltMarcus Bacon, LB, MissouriKelvin Smith, LB, SyracuseJim Laurinaitis, LB, Ohio StateAlvin Bowen, LB, Iowa StatePhillip Wheeler, LB, Georgia TechJon Abbate, LB, Wake ForestAgree?

I don't disagree with all of it, but I think this list strengthens what I'm saying in the Roman Harper thread. We do need a thread for 07 rook IDP discussion. My "report" probably won't be posted for about a week. I was not impressed with Kelvin Smith today. I pimped Osemwegie a bit last year, so I'm gun shy on Goff. I watch a lot of Pac 10 football and I am not impressed with Oscar Lua, but I like Desmond Bishop enough... mentioned him above. Waters looks like a player, and he's finally healthy. A definite sleeper. I've seen Mizzou this year, but half asleep, and I was on the lookout for Harrington, but he didn't impress from what I saw. Felt the same way about Bacon. Laurinitas isn't eligible, but I nice player. Speaking of Ohio State, I like DeAndrea more than most. Wheeler gets a no vote from me for now. I thought Pierre Easley was the guy at Wake and don't know about Abbate, but thanks for the name! :D

Maybe the most impressive ILB in the country so far is Brandon Siler, Jr., Florida, and he will declare. I'd rank him a tick below Willis for now. He is reminding me of Ryans and is also an academic all-american.

Since ILB is so crucial to IDP FF and a low priority in the NFL draft, this class is very interesting the more we toss names out. Last year, as solid as it was at other positions was not great for ILBs.

eta: Fwiw, Mel Kiper has hyped a small school ILB from Hampton, Justin Durant. I haven't seen him play, but Kiper has good sources this early. He just blows it later when he goes for too much glory.
