Buy Low Candidates (1 Viewer)

We see big time players struggle early quite often. This can lead to some owners panicking and looking to get something for their struggling asset before it's too late.

What are some guys you are going to try and target to buy low on?

Not sure how low you could get him, but the Andrews owner may be pulling a guppy panic.
Just an example: Got him in my $200 12-team PPR redraft league for Hopkins and Taysom Hill the night after his bad game. Guy has Likely and fully believes he is taking Andrews job. Couldn't believe it when the offer hit my inbox.

Still a risk but at that price you can't pass.

Every notable tight end did not play even close to expectations.

Gotta figure there are some panicky Kelce/Andrews/Kincaid owners + Njoku is hurt so conceivably, he could be a buy low candidate as well.

Amon-Ra St. Brown (Okay, you'd have to be stupid to really sell LOW, but I could definitely see a small nervous discount.)
Olave
Caleb Williams
Swift

I would look into buying Justin Jefferson if the price is reasonable, especially if his owner is 0-2.

MIN looked bad last night and it might take another month for JJ McCarthy to get comfortable.

Doesn't get much lower that Kaleb Johnson but in dynasty, I am intrigued. I doubt the team that burned first-round capital is ready to part with him so soon, though.

Week 2 hasn't even ended yet, but let me throw out one at each position

QB - Dak Prescott - With 86 attempts through 2 games, he will keep chucking the ball, and the points will come
RB - Chase Brown - RB23 in PPR, but has every RB carry for the Bengals. Believe in the volume.
WR - Courtland Sutton - Week 1 is where this team wants to be at; not week 2
TE - Just about everyone.

I like this take, especially since Warren isn't blowing the doors off with his runs. Kaleb's the kind of guy I target as a throw-in on a bigger deal. If the other owner wants to get it done, KJ might not be a big speed bump at this point.

RB

C. Brown
T. Henderson
B. Irving (if he has another dud tonight

WR

AJ Brown
M. Harrison
D. London
B. Thomas
T. McLaurin

TE

G. Kittle

Unfortunately, because of what owners invested to get most of the guys listed (AJB, Harrison, London, Thomas, Terry, Chase Brown, etc.) I just can't see anyone moving off them at much of a discount if at all. I think you just have to ride this out.

doesn't hurt to ask

My buy low inquiries:
TE David Njoku
WR Garrett Wilson

Asked about Wilson in our league, and if our owner is any indication, Wilson is definitely not a buy low candidate.

True but you should be able to get a better price than you did at your draft and if you're a true believer in the player, why not?

David Montgomery

He's not going anywhere despite all the prayers of the Gibbs owners. Thru 2 weeks, he actually has 1 more carry than Gibbs (which is what we're looking at with Monty as he's never been much of a pass catcher).

The offense overall will likely take a step back this year, but proportionally, Monty will eat (mostly) the same as years past.

I'm just throwing him out there as a guy at a more reasonable cost than most others that will be posted here.

I guess my question is who would sell some of these people and why would you buy them? Other than some of the TE's alot of the names mentioned(Jefferson, Drake, AJB, Monty, Browm, Wilson, Harrison, Thomas, Sutton) are likely peoples starters and they aren't going to hand them over for peanuts. What do you guys think you are going to be able to trade to get them?

There are plenty of owners that get a bad first taste and jump ship early. Most around here won't do that because we know better. There are a lot of people that don't know better.

I wish Ken Walker was still a buy-low; between he and Charbonet there's been 4 receptions....Walker has all 4. He's set for a huge year.
Whats new with Wilson? Dude has had terrible qb play his entire career, I don't think anyone was expecting anything that sheer target volume, which shouldn't change.

Depends on your league and who you're dealing with. But I get where you're going for some of them. No one is selling JJ low. Ever.

I'm probably not the only one that's made a trade with "Team A" and have the rest of the league go ape because they didn't know "Player X" was available. I usually have mutli-player deals in mind where I think I can sell high and buy low. Everybody evaluates players differently. When you pair a guy (or guys) with a good start and mix in a hype player like Fannin, sometimes your calls get answered.

Yeah, I found out the price is pretty steep. No buy-low there.

In-season trades are so hard because everyone has an ego about the players they have and a fear of missing out or "losing" a trade. If everyone was perfectly logical at all times they would happily trade a player for one that they thought was better (in a ROS context), even if the draft capital is uneven. But people draft players for a reason, and those reasons cloud our judgement. Plus, everyone tries so hard to "win" a trade that they often won't consider any offer where the terms are roughly even, and people don't like honest discussions because they think it takes away an advantage.

You won't get someone's struggling WR1 for peanuts, but a good faith offer may see you trading your solid RB2, or a WR2 that's breaking out, or some combination of players that leads to mutual improvement. If you don't make offers in good faith, or respond to good faith offers with respect, you'll find yourself sitting on expiring assets or missing out on a league winner.

I'm just rambling though- anyways, I'm buying low on Chase Brown and Charbonnet. Brown has been looking really unfortunate but the volume is undeniable and I believe in the offense under Browning. Charbonnet I like as a lottery ticket that has shown to have value even with KWIII healthy. I imagine KW will take over for the next few games but I think Charbs is too talented to ride the pine, and KW has been known to miss some games due to injury.

I am looking to sell for an RB. My RB2 is currently losing his job or already lost it (Tracy) and my other receivers are good enough I feel like. Would love to swap him for a receiver (BTJ or Tet) plus an RB with a job. Even Judkins. Hope that happens. —soon to be 0-2 in that league

Offered AJ brown, Dobbins and Hockenson
Out Tet McMillan, Rhamondre

Team
QB Lamar
RB Henry, Warren, Swift, Rhamnodre
WR London, Tet, Meyers
TE Laporta

I flex Swift and Meyers

Seems like a good offer. I’d buy on Brown

How about selling high?

Feel like Egbuka could be a sell high. Obviously super talented, but Evans is still the #1 and Godwin is on the way back. Has 3 TDs, but last week a TD kept him a float.

Wonder if you could get a legit #1 WR for him.

I traded Egbuka and Charbonnet for Jacobs after week 1, to a Bucs homer admittedly.

I reckon you could package him for something now and the ancillary piece might not need to have as much upside as Charbonnet, but I doubt you're getting a legit 1 for him.

Lot of underperforming WR1s
  • AJ Brown
  • Nico Collins
  • Drake London
  • Ladd McConkey
  • Brian Thomas Jr
First 4 should come around, right?

IDK what to think BTJ, his tape looks horrible

Brown. Will come around. It's not him as much as the offensive opportunities. That should change in games to come.

Nico. Will come around. Kirk returning helps quite a bit. What we learned is those two rookie wrs just aren't quite ready.

Drake. Will come around.

Ladd. From a fantasy perspective I just don't think he is what people were drafting him to be. Targets will continue to be spread around and end of year will be a decent wr3 type.

Thomas. Guy is just so talented that as long as he is healthy he has to come around.

Thoughts on AJ Brown?

Just my impression... he looks like a guy that is playing through an injury. Nothing happening downfield... all short in/out cutting routes and the cuts are not exactly looking crisp... even when he goes in motion it looks (to me) like he is moving in slow motion.

I have to dog in this hunt... just not passing the eyeball test for me right now.

I will throw a potential buy low out there:

RB: Tyjae Spears.

Surprisingly went undrafted in my 10 team, 10 player keeper. I was looking at free agents and saw his name. Dropped Jaydon Blue for him. Tyjae was set to see a good amount of work this season. Pollard has/had 4 weeks to run away with the lions share but has not really impressed. I can see Spears coming back and ramping up to a decent workload by midseason.

I think BTJ will come around before Ladd. I think we underestimated the addition of "washed" Keenan and Herbert's ability and willingness to distribute the ball to the open.

Small sample, but I think the splits on BJT playing with Trev Law and Mac Jones are interesting.

I've been jeered in the Shark Pool before for this, but I think Trev Lawrence is a below average NFL QB... if not for where he was drafted, he would be on his 2nd/3rd team by now. It's just not there. 5 yrs from now people will still be making excuses for him.

I'm not sure there's a recent comparison to a qb who has been as bad as he is getting such a pass. Daniel Jones maybe?
