Buy low/Sell high week 5 edition... (1 Viewer)

For those of you who think T Jones is a buy low, have you watched any of his games? He looks terrible, especially in short yardage. I watched him get stuffed at the goal line 3 plays in a row. I sold last week and couldn't be happier. I wouldn't be suprised if he was not starting by years end. And by that I mean getting the majority of carries. I know someone would of jumped on me because Washington actually started this week.
I thought he ran pretty well in San Diego :blackdot: Interesting LJ discussion. Looks like he'll be fine w/ Huard against bad defenses and worthless w/out Huard against a good defense. Key questions imo are:1) How will he do with Huard against a decent defense?2) How will he do w/out Huard against a bad defense (was Oakland or Atlanta the fluke)? Hard to say.

Sell High

L Moore

B Favre

Buy Low

AJ

B Edwards

Plex is not buy low. I gave R. Moss to get him.Holmes is a sell IMO & I own him.

I've been trying to buy Edwards & Aj all year w/no luck. What are you guys giving for them?
Someone offered AJ to me for Edwards. Took the trade because I don't like the Browns and think Edwards drops are more than my nerves can bear.

I stole AJ and LT for Portis and Chambers before this week. But that's probably not a trade you can talk too many ppl in to..(the same dude dropped Boldin for Moose post-draft, pre wk1..)

I dont like Edwards in CLE or anything to do with Cincy. No telling how long it will take Quinn to get up to speed and what's up with Palmer's elbow, doesn't sound good. Fitzpatrick isnt going to get it done for 85 and TJ I fear.

I just offered LJ & Harrison FOR Addai in a non ppr redraft.

I'm deep at WR and think KC is a ticking time bomb. I think Indy is just getting going and Addai will get his.

Tick, tick, tick...............

Just picked up Plex & V Jackson for L Moore & M Muhammad

They were 0-4 and had both SD WR's (Chamber & Jackson). Needs to jump start his team.

it's a 3 player keeper league.

Saavy owners look at Coles and see 3 of his TD's gone from his season end total.
You're the guy who passes on a player because of the Madden Curse too, right?
Not at all. I phrased it incorrectly, admittedly it does sound illogical - although there is the variable of defenses shifting over to him more to limit production which would then be distributed elsewhere. With that said, was his output yesterday an indicator of future performance, either success or failure?
:ptts: Yeah...an indication of future failure...
 Very mature. I obviously used the terms success and failure relative to his current levels of production. "3 TD's! No way am I trading him!"
Yeah...obviously. You may want to read your OP You lost any benefit of the doubt after dropping that gem.BTW---who are you quoting with the "3 TDs!...." or are you just creating another straw man?

Sell High:LJ
:lmao:But who do you guys think one could get for LJ?
I traded Rodgers/Branch/LJ for Palmer/Ochocinco/Grant.I believe I got a steal.
 Joke post?
Nope. Brees is my starting qb so I can afford to gamble on Palmer. I think Grant will turn things around. My wr's are now AJ, Calvin, Jennings and OchoCinco in a start 4 league. Obviously if Grant continues to suck then I got the raw end of things. But yesterday was his first game that both he and the offensive line were both healthy. For as lousy as he's looked, he's still looked better than B-Jax. I'll either be 3-1 or 4-0 after tonight's game with the next best team in my division 2-2. I'm in good shape to make the playoffs.
the record of your team and that of others in the league aside, you got absolutely ripped off in this deal. LJ>>>>>grantRogers>>Palmerand Branch and Ocho are a wash at this point, with Ocho barely outproducing Branch who is not even playing. The key here being that LJ is significantly more valuable than grant. Bad move dude, really really really bad move. You sold low and bought high!
Call the Police you was Robbed
It's funny - I made this deal before this weekend's game. At that time people were asking if I lubed the guy first. Now, I'm the one who was robbed. Funny how things work.

guys, this is such a great thread, and should be pinned even. this shouldn't be on the 2nd page. so in a way i'm merely bumping this since i have nothing to add, but i've really enjoyed reading the players being named and the reasons being given, so thanks to all.

*******...i was thinking the same thing.just kidding about the ******* part. i just don't like that i'm a bit more nervous about coles now, especially since he had to beg to get more looks.

Favre likes throwing the deep ball. Coles runs really fast. He won't get 3 TDs every week, or possibly ever again, but it won't be for a lack of trying on Favre's part. The Cards were without Adrian Wilson so that helped the numbers to be sure. If you could get a sweet deal for him it would be worth it, obviously, but I should think the numbers will be decent from here on out if he stays healthy. No reason to jump ship because of an outstanding day...right?

hey, i'm born indecisive and need constant reassurance. so posts like this help. i've already tried offering him and anthony gonzalez before the 3 TD game for braylon edwards and was summarily dismissed. so i think i'll have to hang on for him and hope very much that you are right - that this 3 TD game is a trend pointing upward going forward for coles.

That might turn out to be one of those good deals you didn't make. I'm not going to come out and say that Braylon is a bust - he's too talented for that - but that OL that was supposed to be the best in football is playing like crap. Winslow is banged up and there is no hope for Stallworth. If you were a DC, wouldn't you make someone else beat you. Braylon has dropped passes and just looked bad but I think it's got a lot to do with what the defense is giving them. DA is not a pro-bowl QB and they have to give Quinn a shot at some point right? None of those things bode well for Mr. Edwards.

you are so right about that, and that's why i figured i'd take a flier on edwards; he's too talented for what he's shown thus far. that said, i also own winslow, so i've definitely been disappointed.

but also, you're right about the failed trade offer - the adage that the best trades you make are the ones that don't happen comes true oh so often, and for some reason, i get trade-happy once in a while. i think i get too eager for games going forward and with nothing happening during the week, i overthink. i've already traded for randy moss, coles and willie parker so i better cool my jets for now. :sadbanana:

I think a better way to look at this might be for us to examine our own rosters and discuss players we are high on and players we are nervous over. Discussing those differences will help others be better equiped to negotiate for a player.

Im nervous about.

Calvin Johnson. Sure he has had lots of targets but he had a dud 2 weeks ago and a bye this week. Add in that Kitna has looked bad and the coach may be forced to do something rash to attemt to keep his job and I get a little nervous about him.

A.J. I'm past nervous and downright worried. I want to wait it out but he has to show some life right quick or I will be actively shopping him. I am suppriesed I haven't gotten any offers yet.

T.J. Housh. Ok, this guy is hemmoraging value. I have no idea what to do with any Bengals players at this point. Second round value producing 7th round points. Just killing my team.

Guys I'm High on.

Brett Favre. I got him as the 16th QB off the board in a 16 team redraft. In the 5th round!!!! I couldn't be happier with his production so far and dont plan on trading him. He will finish top 10 with upside of top 5. If he is your #2 QB I think you can get a much better price for him after the Bengals game in week 6. With Buffalo, San Fran and Seattle in weeks 14, 15, and 16 he may be a guy you want to hold onto.

Jerrious Norwood. Here is a guy who had all the potential and just needed the handoffs. I think he will continue being a #2 RB for many RB strapped teams.

Sell High- Coles & Brett Favre. Guys were SO wide open I couldve had 6 TD passes.
If you can find someone who believes Favre and Coles will go for 6 and 3 respectively go for it. I just don't think they qualify because most people would know that this was a sell high for both players. To me, sell highs are players who are consistently outperforming their ADP who you believe will come down to earth. Like...Matt Forte - currently averaging 23 carries a game. On pace for 368. Schedule is decent but can the rook hold up?Jason Campbell - schedule weeks 9-16: PIT, bye, DAL, @SEA, NYG, @BAL, @CIN, PHI.. brutal down the stretch

I totally agree w/ your definition of what "sell high" should be, but, it does depend on one's league. In my main redraft $$ league, even though I consider all owners to be savvy, there are still a couple who will gravitate towards plaers coming off a big break-out game. Especially if the game was on Prime Time (SNF or MNF). For example, I own Santonio Holmes. If he would've doubled his yardage last night, I'm relatively certain I could've shipped his butt this week for something of value to me. Since he didn't he'll sit on my bench except to cover BYE weeks.

Not sure about Forte...but...God forbid I say this...he could turn out to be the next LT2...came to a sucky team with a crappy OL and still produced nicely. As for Campbell, I think he is finally in an offensive scheme that highlights his abilities...and should do well against any defense...IMO

I'm not saying that either of those guys isn't worth hanging on to. Here, take a look at this:19.919.618.518.117.917.4These are the scoring averages for 5 elite backs and Forte (my PPR league). The first one (19.9) is Forte. The last one (17.4) is Tomlinson. (Forte, Westbrook, Jackson, Peterson, Lynch, Tomlinson)Sure Forte looks good and is in a system that favors him. But to think that an unproven back will continue this kind of production is guessing at best. Hey, I hope he continues the pace and wins the ROY. But I feel more confident that the relatively proven guys will be more consistent. Yes, this is a stat-guy thing. No I would not be surprised if Forte has a good year - but I would be surprised if he finished the year at 20 PPG (PPR). I just would. And that to me defines sell high - for me.

Don't forget he still has two games against the Lions

Interesting LJ discussion. Looks like he'll be fine w/ Huard against bad defenses and worthless w/out Huard against a good defense.

Updated with the answer to #1. I wish I had been able to heed my own advice and move LJ before this week, but I got busy and didn't try hard enough. Not many trades happen in that league anyway.

Until I see something different. I think LJ has become a matchup play only. You'd think they'd want to try to find ways to get him involved in the passing game when they get behind (like they used to), but no.
