Bye week blues...I am a tool! (1 Viewer)

I broke 1 of my self imposed rules..don't draft a K and a DEF with the same bye week.

I was asleep at the wheel and drafted Vinatieri (bye 4) after drafting NE D (Bye 4)...

I have a pretty deep bench and don't want to throw valuable players into waivers.

I'm thinking about taking either a Zero at K or D for week 4.

Anyone every do this before? How did it turn out for you?

:hey:

I did same thing week 8 I think. But no K or D will ever make me get a 0. Drop and pick another one up. Could be difference in the game.

Oh c'mon, just drop the more expendable one that week. I.e. Vinatieri. Chances are there are some FA kickers on your wire that will out-score him by the end of the season.

I've been in leagues where if you start a guy on a bye week you would LOSE points (like 5 or 10 points), so it really hurt if you did it.

You still have a couple weeks to either acquire replacements or decide if dumping the Pats D and Adam V are truly worth keeping and eating the zeroes.

How about offering a trade of either Vinatieri or the NE Def to another team with a player or team you feel is comperable. You may have to lower expectations but someone might be willing to trade kickers or defense straight up and then you only take a 0 for one position in week 4 and a 0 in some other week....

People still draft kickers and defense for the whole season? And then fret about bye weeks as if you cant interchange?

Wow.

I'm pretty sure Vinatieri plays for the Colts these days. Check their schedule, maybe they have a different bye week.

with all due respect, you aren't dealing with a guppy here...Indy & NE both have a bye week week 4.

I would rather my whole starting lineup had a bye on the same week and take my chances. Then I know I have a strong starting lineup while my opponents are fielding weaker lineups for six straight weeks. Advantage, me.

My league fines people 10 dollars. (HTH league)

:football:Guess we should both pay more attention to bye weeks.

Okay, I'm actuallly a BIGGER tool!!! I tried to draft online while bowling in a tournament and my brother-in-law's ONLY responsibility during my draft was to watch the Bye Weeks. At the end of the draft, I had TEN players off in Week 8, including my only TE, K, DEF and BOTH QBS (on a 15-player roster)! Rather than trash my original strategy and pick up FIVE additional Free Agents, I'm going to sacrifice Week 8 and hope for the best. Any thoughts on deliberately stacking your Bye Weeks to a single week and just "taking a knee," so to speak?

trading vinaterri for a guy past his bye down?

take a zero? dont be a moron. drop that patsy and get another. guys like Elam are still on waivers in many leagues.

just find anyone playing a bad defense.

I change kickers every week. I just play the K that has a good O, playing against a bad D and preferably playing in a dome. For eg: Starting John Carney (New York Giants) vs the Rams in St Louis this week....trust me, you will score more points that way. You can never guess which K will score in any week; but with this combo, you have a good chance to score points.

Do you subscribe and use the draft dominator?

Really though dude, it's a kicker & a Def. Who's going to pick them up when you drop them?

Gonna be pretty tough to trade a Bye week 4 player for someone who's already had his bye.

You simply cut the NE Def before week 4 and get a similar one, or at lest one with a different bye. That way you u 3 spots on thoe 2 roster slots those 2 weeks, if you can't move one to another team with a similar issue. I see NE defense being middle of the pack or worse.

One of the FF websites did a very extensive study on this a few years ago, I don't recall who it was. They stated with percentages that you would be better off stacking your roster with many of your main players on the same bye week. It makes sense as you are going to lose many weeks throughout the year anyway, why not give yourself an advantage with a full lineup for nearly every other week.Except for QB I basically ignore bye weeks.

Team #2

12 team Performance league

start: qb, 2 rb, 2 wr, flex, te, k, def

QB: Romo, Delhomme

RB: M. Turner, Forte, Jonathan Stewart, Norwood, Chris Johnson

WR: T.O., Steve Smith, Santana Moss

TE: Owen Daniels

K: Vinatieri, Prater

DEF: NE

Why don't you start Prater? Unless you did the same thing for team 1 as well, but drafted 2 kickers???

or dump the kicker for another K.
