Bye Week Blues - QB Pickups (1 Viewer)

Peak

Footballguy
QBs out this week on Bye include Brees, Ryan, Siemian, Cousins

Keep in mind all WW are different.  I'm thinking Redraft with short benches.  YMMV.

Who are you looking for to fill in this week from WW? Which guys have the best outlook?  My choices in bold below.

Rivers vs NYG - Decent matchup against a weak defense; but West Coast teams travelling East never fare well

Winston vs NE - Thurs Night Home game for TB; Gets Martin back as RB and the NE secondary is being ridiculed; Brady and team always does well in Prime Time; Shoot-out?

Palmer vs PHI - See Rivers above; PHI has looked good, but Palmer is still slinging it around - only concern is whether the oline can protect him?

Goff vs SEA - Rams offense looking better, but I'm not trusting it yet.  Any believers out there?

Wentz vs ARI - Wentz is looking good and the PHI offense is moving the ball around; ARI defense is stingy enough to limit Wentz upside

Cutler vs TEN - After the ####-show on Sunday, I'm staying away from this dumpster fire

A.Smith vs HOU - HOU defense looks like it's getting better every week; KC's offense is dynamic, and Smith is managing it very well.

Taylor vs CIN - Taylor should be able to keep the Buff offense moving vs CIN; Taylor runs just enough to open up the passing game, and McCoy still looks good

Watson vs KC - Watson has improved every week; KC defense is solid, but not as dominant as it was before; Hi Risk/Reward pick, I think

Rivers & Palmer are the best IMO, if they're available. Those names are often owned.

I do have Watson for just this event and I am thrilled about yesterday, but I still don't feel like that KC game is a good start.

I'd put Brissett on that list, there's no shame in what happened to him at Seattle - SF in Indy should be a much better matchup.

You wanna talk blues, the top QB's available in our league are Brissett, McCown, and Glennon.

My QBs in one league are Mariota and Bradford... no good options on the WW... might have to go with Brissett or J. McCown  :X

In my leagues scoring system Jacoby Brissett averaged 5 points a game after 2 weeks before erupting for 29 against Cleveland in week 3.  Andy Dalton averaged 8 points a game in the first 3 weeks before getting for 35 against Cleveland.  Josh McCown is averaging over 12 going into his matchup against the Browns.  He should at least double that.

Exactly. I’m a week away from having to find my WW QB (Wk 6) but I’m looking at Goff @JAX, Flacco v. CHI, Bortles v. LAR, Bradford v. GB if he’s back.

Guess I could also consider Cutler, Glennon, Kizer, Hoyer, or McCown.

ETA: Guess Brissett @TEN would work OK if Luck doesn’t go, think he’s back practising this week.

You better be considering Trubisky.

OK

But yeah, wrong guy on the list of guys I really don’t want to consider, thanks for the correction. Truth be told, an inexperienced QB who is a dual threat has a higher floor, so not....completely....insane...to consider him.

No problem. You just said you could consider those guys. I'm thinking about a lot of them too. Goff not rostered is a bit surprising though.

He’s playing well, I’m moving Carr to IR to pick him up. I’ve watched all his condensed games this year & the contrast to year 1 is startling.

I like what I've seen from Goff a lot. He's also available in my two-QB league (we can only roster 2 QBs) and I need a Carr replacement but his matchup this week vs. Seattle really worries me. I'm leaning Keenum on Monday night over him. He's Case Keenum but you can throw on the Bears and with Cook done I could see the Vikings put into a situation where they have to throw more going forward. Still have until tomorrow to make my decision and I'll probably go back and forth on it a ton but right now that's where I'm leaning.

Somehow both Wentz and Alex Smith got dropped this week, so I actually have a decent menu to choose from with Ryan out.

Gut says Alex Smith but other than game 1, I haven’t watched him or Wentz play.

Hes QB3 in my league.

In dynasty leagues those guys are all owned.  And in dynasty leagues, it's a lot harder to prevent bye week overlap since you are rolling with what you had the prior year.  I have Ryan and Cousins both on bye this week with McCown as my emergency, and this is as good a matchup as I can ask for with him.  I also traded for Brissette because I got him cheap and once injuries (Carr, Mariotta, Luck) keep piling up that's going to compound the bye week problem and I should be able to flip Brissette for a nice profit.  I actually already had the Dak owner who also owns Carr contact me.

The best options in deep leagues are McCown, Hoyer, and Brissette in that order.
