Cadillac dynasty value (1 Viewer)

Heading into last year due to the serious knee injury Cadillac's value was next to nothing, plenty of talk that his career was over. After playing a few games last year he looked like he could be very productive before injuring his other knee.

Now he has another knee injury that is less severe than the first one and has proven he can come back from injury.

Does the 2nd knee injury put him in the scrap heap or does the fact that he came back to be productive last year give you more hope for this year since he made it back?

I'm wondering also as I have him in another league. This was in Rotoworld:

Bucs GM Mark Dominik indicated Tuesday that the team is not counting on Cadillac Williams (torn patellar tendon) for the 2009 season.

"We'll find a role for a guy like Carnell, if it makes sense," cautioned Dominik. Williams may start the season on PUP, making him ineligible to play before Week 7. He could return as a backup, but is fourth string at the moment.

Scrap heap IMO. At least for now. I don't think coaches are going to trust him to be or stay healthy. Ever.

I loved the kid. Unfortunately I think he's borderline worthless.

He doesn't have much value now, but if he plays late this year and looks as good as he did last year, he could get a lot of teams interested when he becomes a free agent next year.

He has pretty much no value IMO. If I owned Graham I would want Ward. How does Caddy find the field behind those two? He never did much in the first place and his injury was devastating. He will at best be a spot backup for another year or two.

I think he was on the scrap heap the moment his first injury occured..it's sad to see another Robert Edwards type of career-ending injury..Caddy wasn't very impressive even before his injury, he looked like an average RB at best..I don't think he can compete with Ward and Graham...he showed a lot of promise, loads of talent in college, but it never materialized in the NFL, at least not at this point..wouldn't be surprised if he was cut before the start of the '09 season.

It would be one thing if he came back and didn't do anything, but he looked awesome in the final game. He is worth rostering if you have room, because if he came back once I don't see why he can't come back again. Durability will always be an issue though.

I had him slated to be cut for my team this year, but does anyone know of any validity to this? Does he have a shot this year?

KFFL) PewterReport.com reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris said he believes RB Cadillac Williams (knee) can be ready to participate when training camp begins.

I think it is too soon to know.

He has very little value but if you already have him and do not need the roster slot he is worth holding on to.

I'm holding him in one league, don't expect anything of him. If, by some miracle, he does come back at full strength, I think he's more talented than any RB on the roster, but it's hard to imagine he hasn't lost a lot of burst... still, the guy has incredible heart to work so hard to come back, if anyone can do it, he can.

Terry Allen was the 1st high profile RB to overcome 2 knee surguries. He performed well after recovering. I think there have been a few other guys to do it since then.

If your league has IR and Caddy does start the season on the PUP then you have to decide if you stash him on IR on keep him on the main roster with the slim chance he might help you in the playoffs.

Probably IR for me.

Caddy hasn't had value for a long time. Lower value than a 3rd kicker.

Don't be the guy that kept drafting or holding onto Barry Sanders thinking he was going to unretire.

Wasting a roster spot for a possible 50 yard game isn't worth it. All you are hoping for is a glimpse of life in order to trade him anyways. He's not coming back as a starter. He's 27, move on already.

That would be a mistake IMO. Other, LESSER RB's have come back from two major injuries early in their careers.Buckhalter was a lesser back who did so very successfully.

Caddy wasn't that great before the injuries. I know I'll take heat for this, but his situation reminds me of Kevin Jones. Both had big time hype coming out of school and both had one decent year (fantasy-wise) where they were force-fed the ball. But neither ever really lived up to expectations and then had injuries that kind of "masked" their lack of premium talent.

There is a reason a guy like Ernest Graham looked a lot better than he did in similar situations the year BEFORE his big injury.

I agree that Caddy wasn't great.... but he spent a lot of time behind a patchwork O-line. People look too much at pure stats and not enough at situation. It's impossible to say for sure, but I think he would have flourished behind the line as it developed in 2007. The line that was so bad for Caddy is now a strength, and it became a strength as 2007 went along. I think you are misremembering that Graham looked a lot better than Caddy the year before... he hardly played until Caddy got hurt and only had 12 total touches the year before. Graham is a solid all around RB, but only an average runner. He is able to take what his line and the defense gives him, but not much more. Graham is a better receiver than Caddy, but Caddy was a superior runner, imo. The stats do not back this up, but as I said, they ran behind different lines.Back on topic: I couldn't afford to keep holding Caddy due to roster considerations, so I traded him for a 2010 3rd rounder in a 10 team dynasty league. I just don't see any real opportunity in Tampa for the next 2 years... at best, Caddy could get into a RBBC. That's not the kind of upside you want in a player that has had two knee injuries.
