Cadillac Williams may be the unluckiest NFL player ever (1 Viewer)

Seriously, I was never a fan of the guy but he's worked his butt off so many times to overcome his injuries. Makes me sick to think he's done it for nothing yet again.

I was watching the game and the sideline cameraman caught him cursing about it again and he was in visible pain and knew it was the knee again. We can pray that it was just a major sprain and not a tear. I agree he worked his ### off to get back into playing shape. The burst came back and the lateral movement was there. If it is the same knee and a tear he may have played his last game today. Let us pray for the best and not the worst.

Held him on my dynasty roster from day one. Was really looking forward to seeing him play next year.

He kept yelling "You gotta be ####### kidding me!" He knew he tore it again......I felt sick for the guy. Hopefully it isn't that bad but I doubt it.

They said on the redzone channel that it was the left knee he hurt today, and the right knee previously. Not sure if that's correct or not.

Tampabay.com confirmed it is not the same knee.

Cadillac Williams grimaces as he is loaded onto a cart in the tunnel after injuring his left knee in the fourth. Williams injured his right knee in 2007.

Gruden also mentioned in his presser that it was the "other" knee. A little help here: I didn't think this "looked" near as bad as when he hurt his other knee against Carolina last year. That play made you go  . This one, it just didn't look as severe, at least to me. I saw it 3 or 4 times from a couple different angles and I couldn't quite see how he hurt it. But there's no doubt about the aftermath, the grimacing, the being carried off, the loading on the cart...those WERE all the same.Others' observations? If you had to conjecture, would you say the severity was the same or similar?

If it were related I could understand, but the other knee is just bad luck. This guy has worse luck than Greg Jones.

Is this the FBG Iron Sheik

Good job to the bucs and john gruden for ruining caddy's chance's of playing football or even walking on a nomal level ever again. moron gruden couldnt wait till next year to use caddy, now he's done for next season as well once again great job to the bucs and the gruden! you guy's are the best F you!!!!!

Between the 0-16 Lions, Caddy's career likely over and the total annihilation of "America's Team" today was a :tfp:

I'm 150% sure that this injury had absolutely NOTHING to do with the previous injury. Cadillac was back, and was looking very good until that play.

 Blame Gruden for something like this is idiotic.

Yay, I was right. Not as bad as the first knee injury. And the best news is he has no more knees to break.

“It’s more of a tear off the bone, so the rehab process should be much easier,’’ Williams said.

The hope is that Williams will be back in time for training camp...

Good luck, Caddy. You deserve it.
Boy I hope he makes it back; love this guy's heart.

You know a guys had bad luck when he says this time its "only a tear off the bone".Jeez. Awful news for him. Heres hoping he keeps on fighting...

Word I've read (MFL player news...no clue what the origanel source is) is that it's a fairly minor injury with only a 5 or 6 week rehab. He should be ready long before training camp.

Anyone else think he's got a great chance to be the Bucs opening day starter in 09?

I am glad I hung on the Earnest Graham.
No way Graham just waltzes in to next preseason as the starting RB. Gruden will draft a RB and bring in free agents and use Graham as a FB. Sell him now while you have him it's the last time you will get any value out of him at all.

roids. i like the guy, but completely ####### up both patellar tendons with no contact on either injury....... weird.

Not a great chance. A chance... maybe. I fully expect the Bucs to sign or draft another RB now, though.
I think they'll go with Caddy, Dunn, Graham and maybe resign Bennett again, or maybe Pittman. I'm not saying that's what they *should* do, but the offensive genius (Gruden) wants a quarterback. That's his focus. I don't think they do much to pursue or draft a significant RB.

I am glad I hung on the Earnest Graham.
It's sad that, because of fantasy football, your first thought is how this injury improves the status of your team. :goodposting: Cadillac worked his tail off to get back on the field, and was looking pretty good before he shredded his other knee. This guy is all heart and I feel terrible for him.The play was freakishly similar to what happened last year. I had to leave the room because I couldn't listen to Carnell screaming as he was writhing in pain on the sideline.Good luck in another rehab process Carnell...

I think I'll save my prayers for something a little more important. I'm sure he has a boatload of money. Assuming he doesn't squander it...he'll be alright without our prayers.

I'm not a religious man but I don't think you get the concept of why people pray.

Someone high up in my company told me recently "There are a lot of people who are good, but its better to be lucky than good."

Caddy has all the talent and heart you could ask for in a RB, but this is reality in the NFL. RB is the position where young players flourish the most and later disappear the quickest. I agreed with the Bucs not spending high on a RB before this season as I thought Caddy could come back. Now though even if he again comes back, its better to go with a younger stud.

This guy is going to be the biggest buy low candidate in the draft next season. You will probably be able to grab him in the 10th round of a redraft. True, he may be injury prone, but look at what he did in this last game before he got hurt. Over 100 yards, 5 catches, and 2 TD's. Come training camp Gruden is probably going to make it an open competition for the #1 spot between Dunn, Graham, and Caddy. I'm not at all worried about the rehab from this one, as he has plenty of time.

The only issue I have is it will probably be a RBBC.

No Robert Edwards is ... Patriots running back.. was playing a rookies flag football game at Pro Bowl weekend... Tore up his knee (almost needed amputation) in 1998 and nfl career was essentially over after a promising start (rushed for 1110 yards as a rookie)

didnt play in nfl again until 2002, was cut and then played in cfl 2005-7... At least Caddy got his millions.. Edwards was on his way before a freak injury in nfl sponsored event killed his career.. I hope he had insurance or the NFL compensated him (though cant imagine NFL doing that)

but sucks about caddy

College career

Davis played football for Syracuse University, and went on to gain national fame for three seasons (1959-1961), twice winning first-team All-American honors. As a sophomore in 1959, Davis led Syracuse to the NCAA Division I-A national football championship, capping an undefeated season with a 23-14 win over The University of Texas in the Cotton Bowl. That same year, Elmira Star-Gazette sports writer Al Mallette coined the nickname for Davis, the "Elmira Express". Davis was voted Most Valuable Player of the 1960 Cotton Bowl and the 1961 Liberty Bowl. In his junior year, he set a record of 7.8 yards per carry and was the third leading rusher in the country with 877 yards, having rushed 100 yards in 6 of 9 games.

Pro football career

Davis was the number-one pick in the 1962 NFL Draft, becoming the first black football player to be taken first overall. Selected by the Washington Redskins, his rights were then traded to the Cleveland Browns. He was also drafted by the Buffalo Bills of the American Football League.

Davis signed a three-year, $200,000 contract with the Browns in late December 1961 while he was in San Francisco, California practicing for the East-West Shrine Game. Originally reported at $80,000, the contract, according to Davis' attorney, A. William (Tony) DeFilippo, consisted of $80,000 for playing football, including a $15,000 signing bonus; $60,000 for ancillary rights, such as image marketing; and $60,000 for off-season employment. It was the most lucrative contract for an NFL rookie up to that time. However, the Browns' dream of pairing Davis with Jim Brown in the backfield took a tragic turn when Davis was diagnosed with leukemia during preparations for the 1962 College All-Star Game.

Davis never played a game as a professional, with his only appearance at Cleveland Stadium coming during a 1962 pre-season game, in which he ran onto the field as a spotlight followed him. Following his death, the Browns retired his number 45 jersey.

Death

In the summer of 1962, Davis was diagnosed with acute monocytic leukemia and began receiving medical treatment. The disease was incurable, and he died in Cleveland Lakeside Hospital the following year at age 23. Both the House and the Senate of the United States Congress eulogized him, and he was waked in The Neighborhood House in Elmira, New York, where more than 10,000 mourners paid their respects. Davis is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, Chemung County, New York, in the same cemetery in which Mark Twain is buried. His commemorative statue stands in front of Ernie Davis Middle School.

I didn't know God gave you a limited number of prayers. Smart thing rationing them then. :blackdot:

I was born on Black Friday so my prayers came as a BOGO, so I have prayers to spare. I think tonight I'll pray that the grass outside isn't so long that I need to cut it tomorrow.
