Caldwell says starters will play on Thursday (1 Viewer)

Peyton, Addai, Clark, Wayne owners can exhale.... for now. nothing promised beyond this week.

Per beat writer John Oehser:

Colts will play starters at least to Game 14. Colts Jim Caldwell on Jaxe: "We're going to approach the 14th game exactly like we did 1-13."
Colts coach Jim Caldwell: “The only thing that will deter playing time is health issues – whether or not a player is capable of playing."
Jim Caldwell said plan to play starters v. Jax Thu doesn't extend beyond that. “That's all I'm going to deal with is this game coming up."

Any chance "approach" means game planning from a scheme level only? Any chance this quote isn't referring to personnel? As a Wayne owner, that quote is positive, but is Caldwell is the type of guy to give a canned response, ending all the harping on if they are gonna sit/start their first team(a la Bill B).ETA - just saw the other quotes. Much more re-assuring

"approach" = they will start the game as usual. Don't be surprised if the starters get benched if the team is up in the 2nd half.

I'll still take Peyton's production until they open up a lead over at least half the QBs in the league. Yesterday, VY outscored Brady, Rodgers, and Favre in less than a half of successful work.

Meaningless.

bad PR for the NFL if a coach comes out and says his starters are only playing a half. As a Manning owner I'm not counting on him this week or the next 2 if I win

The ones who are saying its meaningless and the ones who are saying "Oh, he's lying" are the ones who are begging for the colts starters to be benched

Wrong  I have Manning on one team, Clark and Wayne on others.Keep believing everything you read on the internet, only good will come from it

What would he have to gain by lying?

"We'll let the Jags prepare for Manning all week, and then Suprise!! They will be completely unprepared for Painter."

I see zero reason to start benching starters so soon. My prediction: full game this week, a half next week, maybe a few series the last week.

IMO theres a much greater chance of a team losing their edge with a month off over a key player getting hurt.

Didn't Caldwell basically already say he was resting starters as soon as home field is clinched? So this is a bit of backpedaling?

That's exactly what happened in 2005 and 2007 in my opinion, and that was with only 2-3 weeks off.

They are going to try and win the game. Every game. Starters will be out there, however that doesn't mean they will be the primary target on offense. Could very well mean big games from Garcon and Collie and the backup TE's. Manning can win with just about any warm body that can catch a football. Wayne & Clark may very well just run around for exercise.

I'm starting Clark anyway.

Not sure why anyone would start Wayne at this point. You must have another receiver capable of 50 rec yards if you've made it this far.
Cause he is WR3 overall in my PPR league? Finnegan and Champ the last two weeks are pretty tough match-ups and he went 10/162 in the first game against Jacksonville.

Hah, completely ignorant post
It's pretty bad. The other receiver may be capable of 50 yards but no chance for a TD. I give you Greg Jennings. Hell, Brandon Gibson can rack up 50 yards but he also has about no chance of scoring a TD since they average about 1 per game.Wayne has that chance.

They'll play until the game is wrapped up. It will be that way until they lose. Seriously, I don't see anyone being able to pass up the chance at running the table.

For anyone in the 1st or 2nd round of their playoffs, are any Addai owners concerned that Mike Hart will mop up in the second half of these games or even the first half, cutting into Addai's chances to help you win whe you need it most? I'm still a little suspect that they wouldn't scale back the RB position a little more since that position may be more prone to injuries, due to the greater amount of touches and traffic around the line/blocking, etc. They have Simpson and Hart who could just about fill in the same and I'm sure they'd have no problems using them up. Addai is very well known for taking himself out and always getting nicked up. I think this is probably THE last game we can count on him and even that could be a stretch. Addai's consistent 15 points are pretty nice most weeks.

I don't get points for chances. Whether it's injury, scheme, etc there's just as great a chance that Manning chucks 4 TDs and he doesn't get one. If Wayne's four point explosion had been enough to keep me alive this week, I'd bench him for Jennings next week. Too late.
