Called out by our Mascot (1 Viewer)

Denver Obsession

Footballguy
Ok, I need to preface this by saying that I mentioned on this board, last week that I hated Mascots and wondered if any of you did too (THREAD).

Well, apparently, our the Denver Broncos team mascot read my post or blog entry and offered his own remarks on unappreciative fans on his blog (yes, yes, the Denver Broncos mascot Miles has his own blog): HERE.

Now, I replied to his post(you can see it at the bottom of his entry), but I also wanted to mention it here for the same reason.

I'm a Denver Broncos fan, and I under all that foam-rubber, so is the guy that dresses up as Miles. I thought my little post was funny and asked an entertaining question (what are these mascots for?)... however, I did it in a rather mean fashion and I most certainly did not intend to insult a fellow Broncos fan -- even if he dresses up as a horse for work. :lmao:

I still don't like mascots in the pros, but I'll try to contain my hostility the next time I see Miles... heck, maybe I'll offer to buy the dude a drink (after hours).

How can you NOT like Miles? He and Rocky (from the Nuggets) are two of the best mascots anywhere! They certainly are entertaining.

"Let’s say this guy actually procreates..."

BURRRRRN! :goodposting:

It's great that you have a sense of humor and brought this here. It's also funny that the guy who plays the mascot actually responded. But he does bring up some valid points there...

Yeah, the whole "200-300 appearances" and "hospital visits for kids" thing made me feel like a REAL jerk! :topcat: I think the Denver organization (including their mascots and cheerleader) do some great community outreach stuff and I definitely didn't want to say anything negative about what they do.

And as for 'procreating'... My wife and I are involved in our state's child services program as foster parents. I don't know about introducing our little charges to Miles, but I try my best to get them hooked on the Broncos! :)

WHAT? Theres are real person inside that suit?

What a scam! I thought he was a real smart horse!

Here's one thing I don't understand. If mascots are good for children, how do you not like the idea of mascots in the NFL?

That's cool that you are involved as foster parents. I might humbly suggest that a personal appearance by Miles at the MDO household (or other foster-parent type event) would be a suitable olive branch after the whoopin' you took :wall: -QG

Don't get me wrong, I still don't like the idea of costume characters as mascots. I still don't think they are necessary in pro-sports. Any of these charity appearances, for example, could also be done by players or coaches with the team. And I know just as many children that are scared to death of them as like them.My reason for posting this was... well... I thought it was funny for one thing! But also because I wanted to explain that in my original post, I was commenting on the IDEA of a mascot, not the dude inside the suit. That guy is a fellow Broncos fan (a pretty big one I'd imagine) and I did not mean to insult or offend him.I meant the appology... but I'm still laughing at the whole situation!
