Calling the Sharks - What trades / moves got you into the playoffs (1 Viewer)

Round 1 is finished for most leagues and for almost all of us in the playoffs there must be a couple of key moves you made right before the season or during that got you in.

I know in one of my PPR leagues, if I didn't make the following trade I would of barely made the playoffs and would of most likely lost this week

* gotup Johnson, Andre HOU WR;Umenyiora, Osi NYG DE;Ryans, DeMeco HOU LB

* gave up Bowe, Dwayne KCC WR;Pettigrew, Brandon DET TE; Year 2011 Round 1 Draft Pick

Not a terrible trade on either side since Bowe can be kept and I will most likely have to let AJ go, I can keep Osi.

These 3 deals were made during the off-season in a 16 teamer if I had not made them no way would I have even made the playoffs

* got up McFadden, Darren OAK RB

* gave up Long, Lance FA WR; Year 2010 Draft Pick 1.08; Year 2011 Round 2 Draft Pick

was laughed at by EVERYONE!!! and it was worse when both Hardesty and B Tate were still on the board at the time of the pick. The guy ended taking Benn swhoes looking like a good WR.

* gave up Bush, Reggie NOS RB;Thomas, Pierre NOS RB;Austin, Miles DAL WR

* got up Peterson, Adrian MIN RB;Orakpo, Brian WAS LB

had a feeling that PT was going to disappoint and wanted to get what I could, ADP was a complete stud and RB#2 until the past 2 weeks. Hes out scored all 3 of Austin / PT / Bush combined so far in my league.

* got up Miller, Zach OAK TE

* gave up Year 2011 Round 1 Draft Pick;Year 2011 Round 5 Draft ;Year 2012 Round 2 Draft Pick;Year 2012 Round 5 Draft Pick

Gave up a lot of picks but its really hard to find a TE1 in a 16 teamer and when Miller is healthy hes top 4

trades I made since the beginning of the season

I recieved Chris Johnson and Signey Rice for A. Foster, Javid Best and Greg Jennings

I recieved Mike Wallace for CJ Spiller

I recieve Phillip Rivers for Big Ben and Mike Wallace

The first trade might not look that good but when making that move I had alot of depth and I wanted a sure STUD. I though Foster would be good but not this good.

I destroyed my opponent in the first round last week and go against the #1 seed this week. Should be a tough game

My team in that league

Rivers

Chris Johnson

Turner

DMac

Wayne

Marshall or Britt

Gonzo

Kaeding

Pitt

14 team, ppr dynasty....traded Shonn Greene for H. Nicks during the off-season when all the hype on Greene was at its highest

Also in the same league I traded Gresham, Cutler and Hester for the Law Firm, Orton and Gonzo. This trade was especially helpful seeing the injury woes of gates who I own

Three trades really gotten me there...

Gave up Ryan, Crabtree and Jacobs for Brees, V Jax and Bush

Gave up Best, Colston, Pettigrew for MJD and Wayne

Gave up Wayne and Gonzo for Jennings and V. Davis

Playoff starting lineup is...

Brees

MJD

Foster

Turner

Jennings

Nicks

V. Davis

Waiver D

traded naanee after his big week 1 for vick when it wasn't clear that he was gonna take over full-time yet. that, uh, helped.

My biggest trade: Trading Best after his 3 TD game (his absolute peak) for Brady in a QB heavy league where I had Cutler as my starter.

nice.. totally changed ur team

Picking up Peyton Hillis for nothing during the offseason in a salary cap league... along w/ Stevie Johnson and T. Edwards (who became Fitzpatrick). I tried to deal Shonn Greene in the same league but couldn't get any decent offers not involving Desean Jackson (who I was also shopping but wanted a ton for).

Brag threads if ive ever seen one, since im here might as well.

Pre-season (trades from earliest to latest):

Send Wes Welker

Send Michael Crabtree

Receive Michael Turner

Receive Steve Smith (car)

Regular Season (trades from earliest to latest):

Send Mike Tolbert (Wire pick up Sep 22, Trade Oct 14)

Receive Heath Miller (Have to start two TEs, Drafted Gates and Finley both injured)

Added Jacob Tamme

Send Ray Rice

Send Michael Bush

Send Jay Cutler

Send Antonio Gates

Receive Maurice Jones-Drew

Receive Ahmad Bradshaw

Receive Hakeem Nicks

Receive Tony Gonzalez (gave me Roddy white, Michael Turner and Gonzo, soon after this trade I moved him for Zach Miller... my 4th injured TE)

Added Ben Roethlisberger

Added Steve Johnson

Added Michael Crabtree (after his one big game)

Send Tony Gonzalez

Send Michael Crabtree

Receive Zach Miller (oak)

End result: 1st Place H2H 11-2, 2201.1 Points for (most pts for), 2114.8 Points against (most pts against...) lots of close games injuries everywhere

Post Season: Beating the 4 seed by 69 pts, 190.9 to 121.9 after first week (2 week semis and 2 week championship)

League 1: Fitz and Tamme (already owned Hillis)

League two: Fitz, Stevie Johnson and Hillis

League three: Fitz and Hillis

Without Hillis, I make the playoffs in one of those three leagues...

gave up ronnie brown for Vick when he was injured and it was still uncertain who'd be starting after he came back

"What trades/moves got you into the playoffs" and you post 3 waiver pick ups and a deal you couldn't pull off. Lmao

Traded for Allen after his first 8 weeks (Only 1 sack in week 3 up til that point) in a high scoring IDP league

My league is horrible when it comes to trades (read: very, very few in a given season).

Had Romo and took a flyer on Vick back on Sept. 16th. That move was the biggest of my season.

 Waiver Wire pickups are "moves."

#1 PICKED UP MICHAEL VICK OFF WAIVERS

#2 Trading Nicks for Andre Johnson straight up the week before Nicks came down with component syndrome.

Three trades have propelled my crappy team to the last playoff seed and into the 2nd round:

1) Traded B.Jackson for M.Vick the week after they were both the WW pickups of the week. Took one performance from BJax for me to realize I took the wrong guy with the first pick. Luckily the Vick owner had Rodgers and wasn't worried about parting with his newly acquired WW backup.

2) I missed out on Blount the week that he was a hot pickup. Sent over an offer of J.Best for Blount straight up and it was accepted. I was nervous about that one but it worked out.

3) The real winner of them all: Week 10 and I'm in 2nd to last place, finding myself in must-win territory with Greg Jennings on a bye week. I was able to send Jennings and Ronnie Brown for Mike Wallace and Knowshon Moreno. Those two helped me out a TON down the stretch.

I traded away P.Manning, P.Rivers, MJD, A.Foster, M.Williams (TBB), M.Colston and J.Witten.

Worked out perfectly as I was the highest scoring team and 2nd seed into the playoffs.

Preseason:

Traded Kolb, Mathews, and Winslow for Colston, Forte, and Schaub

Started 8-0, ended 11-2. first round bye

Everyone called me crazy. They said Kolb was ASSURED a top 10 QB and Mathews would be a top 10 RB. But who's crazy now? WHO? WHO?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHA

Traded Floyd to get Moreno.

Traded LT2 to get Bradshaw.

Traded Roethlisberger and Holmes for Vick and Steve Johnson (+ Floyd) when Vick was still hurt.

Grabbed Tampa Mike Week 1 off the waiver wire.

Got Deion Branch off the WW before he was even traded.

FG's have done me good this year, so thanks.

sometimes the best moves are the ones you never made

I'm in the playoffs because the other team didn't accept my offer of Hakeem Nicks + Jaamal Charles for Ray Rice + Marques Colston, early in the season

Started the season 0-5 with the following roster:

QB-Palmer

WR-Wayne

WR-Marshall

RB-Turner

RB-Best

TE-Finley

FL-M. Williams (TB)

DEF-NYG

BN-Big Ben

BN-Orton

BN-Lance Moore

BN-Sidney Rice

BN-Spiller

BN- Miami

In week 4, I traded Best + Moore for Vick + Colston (Owner had Brees also)

In week 7, I traded Wayne for A. Bradshaw.

In week 8, I traded A. Bradshaw + Orton for Andre Johnson + Felix Jones.

WW Pickups along the way: Blount, Torain, Brandon Jackson, Choice, Ben Watson.

Finished the season 6-7 (6th seed) and won my first round matchup last week with the following roster:

QB-Vick

WR-A. Johnson

WR-Colston

RB-Turner

RB-Blount

TE-Watson

FL-S. Rice

DEF-NYG

BN-Big Ben

BN-M. Williams (TB)

BN-Marshall

BN-Felix Jones

BN-Choice

BN-Miami

Traded Miles Austin for Michael Turner straight up at the start of the season.

Waiver Wire packed Mike-Sims Walker and Pierre Garcon for Mike Wallace.

Traded Dustin Keller and LaDanian Tomlinson for DeSean Jackson.

Traded Reggie Wayne for Michael Vick straight up.

10-4, top of league. Started 1-2.

My starting line up was Kevin Kolb, Reggie Wayne, Miles Austin, Steve Smith(CAR), Ray Rice, Brandon Jacobs, And Jwitten.

They are all gone but rice. It isn't how you draft!!

That's funny. I'm the exact opposite. My playoff team is almost identical to my drafted team:drafted:

QB-Romo

RB- Mendenhall, Charles

WR- Andre Johnson, Nicks, Maclin

TE- John Carlson

Playoff team:

QB- Josh Freeman (romo injured)

RB- same

WR- same

TE- Pettigrew

plus K and DEF, which I was always planning on rotating anyway. I've ridden the same 5 guys from start to finish.

This trade didn't get me into the playoffs—I was going anyway—but it did secure me the first-round bye in a very tough bracket:

12-team keeper $200 auction

I gave:

Darren McFadden—$6

I got:

Michael Turner—$50

Greg Jennings—$34

Mike Sims-Walker—$8

Made the trade the week after Nicks went down. Turner has obviously been great. Jennings filled my WR2 spot admirably for three weeks, but now it looks like Nicks is back. Could be just in time. Not sure I can start Jennings if Rogers doesn't play (Andre Johnson is my other WR).

I think this is the key to a lot of fantasy teams.

Traded Gore for Wayne & Moreno--when he was hurt--this trade helped me a ton

Traded Miles Austin for Charles--KC right after our draft--was worried at the time but it has worked out well for me

Traded Brady & Meachem for Flacco & Greg Jennings--has worked out good even though Brady is on a tear right now

This is a PPR league

No big trades this year, but Hillis, Woodhead, and BMW were all waiver wire picks that helped me get into the playoffs. I also just managed to snag Matthews off waivers and I'm hoping he can get me some nice flex points the next 2 weeks.

I drafted McFadden for the minimum. I flipped Knox for TO after week 3 or so. I dumped Marshawn Lynch for Sidney Rice. I traded Rivers and Roddy for DeSean and ADP...and later traded back for Roddy by giving up DeSean/Ocho. I got Ocho by moving Driver. I gave away Tolbert/Greene/VJax/Austin for LBJ/Hines Ward/Ivory. I flipped Ivory for Torain/Obomanu.

Now for some bad deals...I gave Turner/Z. Miller for Gates/DeAngelo. Gates has rarely played since that time. To get Miller I gave up Brady/Hernandez...for Miller/Fitzpatrick. That still hurts. I gave up Santana for Kolb.

I made a huge deal that may have saved my season and that will give me a chance at victory in the super bowl.

Traded Pierre Thomas, Deangelo and Vincent Jackson (non-ppr) for Jones-Drew in a dynasty league.

Long-term, I probably lose, but I still have a stud RB out of the deal, and he'll be a stud in 2011 as well.

:goodposting: Hillis is the waiver-wire gem of the year for sure. Huge advantage to anyone who picked him up.

Most Important in-season move was picking up Mike Vick after week 1.

Sent Brandon Jackson+Big Mike Williams (after his 2 big weeks) for Andre Johnson.

Sent Miles Austin for Steven Jackson.

Only have 6 of 18 drafted players left.

I had the best draft in my fantasy history in my 12-tm ppr league and it allowed me to strengthen my team later with two huge trades.

My league domination began when I drafted Rodgers with the third pick, then went Roddy, Boldin, Foster, Harvin, Bradshaw, Floyd. I got Cooley and Pitt's D very late.

However, my best move came when I picked up Peyton Hillis in the first week and dropped Leon Washington. Hillis, Bradshaw, and Foster proved to be a RB juggernaut but I could only play two since we have no flex.

Shortly before the trade deadline I made a deal with a struggling team who was weak at multiple positions. I sent him Bradshaw, Boldin, and Shiancoe and in return I got.......Chris Johnson. I also picked up Jacob Tamme one week before.

The next day, one hour before the trade deadline, I made a deal with another owner who was loaded at receiver and weak at RB. I gave him Hillis and got Andre Johnson in return.

My final roster looks like this:

Rodgers

Foster

Chris Johnson

Roddy

AJ

Harvin (w/Floyd and Ford as backups)

Tamme

Cooley

Pittsburgh D

My Team before trades:

1 QB; 3 WR; 2 RB; 1 TE; K & TD...... .5 ppr 14 teams (2 Keepers)

Cutler

Garrard

Andre

Nicks

Fitz

Gaffney

Hillis

DeAngelo

Michael Bush

Shockey

Shiancoe

Jahvid Best

When McFadden was injured for that week or so I traded: Bush, Shockey & Shiancoe for Witten

Then traded Fitz for LeGarrette Blount and Steve Smith (Car)-->not the best deal but knew I could package smith for another WR (hopefully haha). Plus it was the best I could get for Fitz at the time and I was concerned about Best and DeAngelo..I wanted Blount

Traded Steve Smith to owner who lost NYG Steve Smith and needed WR..Steve Smith for Shonn Greene

Next day, owner needed RB and wanted Shonn Greene: Shonn Greene & Gaffney for Mike Wallace

Basically I turned Fitz into Blount & Wallace (Pretty good IMO)

Tried getting a deal done for Tom Brady but couldn't make it happen..anyway, my team now is below:

QB: GARRARD, Cutler

WR: ANDRE, NICKS, MIKE WALLACE, Jacoby Ford, Blair White

RB: HILLIS, BLOUNT, Best, Choice

TE: WITTEN

K: JOSH BROWN

D: GIANTS

ended the season on a 6 game win streak and it's at 7 with a W in the first round of the playoffs, headed to the semi's..
