Calvin Johnson-buy low or stay away (1 Viewer)

Johnson has been banged for the first half of the season and Stafford is dealing with injuries as well. Is he a player you are targeting as a buy low or are you avoiding him. What are your thoughts are Johnson for the rest of the year? Would you move a player like Slaton for him?

Most trade deadlines have past at this point, but in redraft, I would trade a second tier receiver (like a Santana Moss) for him at this rate. I own CJ (and am starting him), but I don't buy that he is healthy. Time will tell, but I think he will have more games under 70 yards than over for the rest of the year.

Slaton... yes. Det is slowly turning around and CJ is a freaking stud

I have had folks target him as I own him in almost every league I'm in, but I won't move him for anything less than a stud. I could just be emotional, but I think he'll turn it around by next week.

got megatron straight up for burleson. redraft league.

I am very deep at WR (Welker, R.White, Boldin) and traded Bowe and Hoosh for MEgatron in hopes for a playoff run.
I own Megatron in two leagues and just traded Bowe straight up for him in another. So basically, my 3 money leagues I'm riding Calvin as my Wr 1A we'll all it another he's my WR2 in the 3rd.Detroit has an average to good WR matchup the rest of the way. Their week 15 and 16 schedule is very good. But the bottom line is Megatron is a stud. Even studs have to be used the proper way though. Look at Randy Moss in Oakland, he had very few studly games there and everyone thought he wasn't the same guy as he was in Minny, we all see now that it's just not the case.Calvin is still a stud, despite this poor season. Due to injury to his QB, himself and his QB being a rookie, things haven't played out like we've wanted as CJ owners. However, living in Detroit I've heard a lot of talk this past week on the local sports stations and it's basically centered around, why isn't Calvin getting the ball. I mean, if you're gonna lose, you're gonna lose but you at least going out swinging. For the Lions, that means you need to be trying to get the ball in CJ's hands at all cost.I've heard how they double him, play the safety this way and that way.......I don't care. You counter that by giving him the ball on slants, reverses, throw it up every once in awhile deep to let him make a play. The guy is a freak, I'm absolutely convinced. You give this guy as many chances to make plays as you possibly can.I'm riding Calvin and it's starting today. I don't care about the Minny defense, they can get passed on and Calvin will have a solid game today. I wasn't at practices all week for the Lions, but you can't tell me that any sane person after last week wouldn't be working all week on trying to find ways to get Calvin the ball and work on their timing that was off last week due to both guys not being healthy for about a month.Calvin's going to score today, he's going to have a solid end to the season and those of us who believe in him will reap the benefits. I'm right in the thick of the playoff races in all 3 leagues so for me, believing in Calvin will be costly one way or the other. If there are no more injury setbacks, I just can't see this guy not having some big games down the stretch, he's that good. If it doesn't happen, then at least I lose and there's nobody to blame but myself. Calvin's a freak, I'm in and it starts today.

I own "Megatron" in my main money league. If you can "buy low" with CJ, I wouldn't hesitate for a second. He may be underperforming in a big way, but he has the potential to produce big games IF he gets healthy and IF Stafford can start connecting with him. Having said that, CJ has a very recognizable name among fantasy circles and went very high on most draft boards, so I think he actually tends to be overvalued in most leagues this season - especially in light of his production - and would not be a candidate I would consider a "buy low" option.

Just watch one quarter of a Detroit game this season. I actually think they are WORSE than last year. Stafford has no time to get set and even attempt to look for CJ. Seriously - I would be selling Calvin right now, even though his value sucks. I own CJ and he's the #4 WR on my team right now, behind the likes of Steve Smith and Jericho Cotchery.

As a CJ owner in my big money league... he's behind Brandon Marshall, MSW, Sidney Rice, S. Moss in my league... I'm just hoping he has a huge game so I can finally get a buyer for him. He went 8 for 85 this week... I hope that's enough to sway the Vernon Davis owner.

got him for marion barber before last weeks games, as the guy who had him had serious rb problems, and i had depth at rb with gore, lt, mendy, and stewart. My stupid receivers have been doing crap all year, jennings, bowe and hester...

also turned around and got boldin for hester from a dude dying for a starting wr last week, so now i went from jennings/bowe, 3rd and 4th round super busts, to megatron and bowe, without diluting my team one bit. Very happy, and yes, megatron when healthy will produce, regardless of matchup. team sucks, and will be playing from behind...

My season is pretty much over. 4-Man keeper. I traded:

Brandon Marshall

Ricky Williams

for

Calvin Johnson

Felix Jones

Mainly traded to get Calvin. Hopefully I look like a genius moving forward.

I plan on keeping:

-Andre Johnson

-Calvin Johnson

-DeAngelo Williams

-Aaron Rodgers

On the fringe...

DeSean Jackson

Cedric Benson

Mike Sims-Walker

Going to try packaging some talent for a Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Jones-Drew type player...

CJ caught 8 balls today. He had at least 12 targets. I can't understand why you wouldn't want a WR that gets that ball thrown to him so often. Additionally he is on a team always playing from behind. Not to mention he is a physical freak. The only reason you would not want him IMO is if he is not healthy.

He looked real good today and his schedule the rest of the way is very good. Those of us who drafted Megatron may not get the full value we expected but if he stays healthy he could be a major impact player the rest of the way.

I didnt like the comments from Tim Ryan who was doing the game. He said CJ dropped 3 or 4 balls that he would normally catch, looked sluggish and was hanging his head alot.

He wonders if he is just not healthy.

You're upset after an 8 reception and 80+ yard day? I was very happy with what I saw from Calvin yesterday.
Upset, not at all. But he's probably the most inconsistent considering where he was probably drafted on most boards. If your able to get consistent value for him, I'd deal him in a New York minute. Antonio Gates straight up.. taking it.
