Calvin Johnson (1 Viewer)

So, is CJ bench material for this week too? He can't possibly stink it up for another week right? RIGHT?
I wish I knew. Each week it has been a roll-the-dice between him and MSW. Went CJ this past week; I figure the one I pick this week will be the wrong one.

I think the only way you can consider starting Megatron this week is if your league starts four or five WRs. If you start two or three, I think he's just way too risky given Detroit's wretched QB situation. If you saw the game against Arizona, you saw him really busting his a** on the field (he made a great block on Morris' TD run, for example). But the QB play is abysmal with Culpepper and Stanton. The upside is always there with Megatron but in Week 16 I don't think you can start him as a WR2 or WR3 unless you're really really desperate or you're in a real large league. I think he's a WR4.

Coming from you, this is a real :sadbanana: . I guess I will have to start MSW.

It's not an indictment of Megatron but just an acceptance that his situation is brutal right now. It reminds me of when Steve Smith had to work with David Carr in Carolina two seasons ago. Smith was still a stud talent but his QB was so pathetic there was no realistic way for Smith to realize his potential for fantasy owners. I think the same is true here - Calvin is still a stud but we've now seen him rendered practically useless by Culpepper and Stanton. And this week is far too critical to play the hope game. You have to go with guys who are producing and Calvin isn't producing due to his horrible QB situation. Because of that, I don't think Calvin is more than a WR4 this week.

Is the situation better with Stanton?
It can't be any worse. If there's any chance for upside it's with Stanton because there's clearly none with Culpepper. I still think Calvin is a WR4 this week no matter who starts at QB.

I agree that Calvin is a dodgy start this week. My only problem is that I'm not sure I have any better alternatives: Garcon is hurt and likely to sit early, BEdwards is wildly inconsistent, and Britt is still a question mark, especially with Gage back in the picture. I think I may just have to roll the dice with Calvin and hope they can hit him deep at least once. But I'm not optimistic.

I'd start Calvin over all of them unless there are some strong indications Garcon practices fully. If he's limited or questionable I wouldn't take the risk with him despite his potential.

Stanton is indeed the starter this week. From what I've seen of him, that pretty much eliminates any deep balls to Megatron.

going with Driver this week.. already been burned multiple times this season with CJ. cant risk it for the SB.dont understand why FBG insists on listing Calvin as top 12 every week. last week of the season and he's a 20-30 range WR..not sure how many more weeks of data they can collect before the end of the season.. oh wait there arent any..

So sick of getting nothing from him. Superbowl week and I have to choose between him, Nicks-hurt, and Avery. UGH!!!! (for my WR#3). Have 85 and DeSean Jackson starting.

FBG says start Megatron over Edwards, but that is wrong.
