Cam Newton (1 Viewer)

How likely do you think it is that Newton throws for 250 yards and at least 2 TDS against the Pack?

the feeling i got watching him play was the same watching Tebow last year. Both not really the classic qb type of mold BUT they make plays and find a way to will themselves to a win. it is definitely going to be interesting this week and next week. :blackdot:
Thats not a very good comparison.....at all.
I think it's a fine comparison. Except that Cam has much better throwing mechanics (and a much nicer pass overall). Both are exceptional dual threats who naturally use their rushing threat to enhance their passing game. Steve Young was the greatest at this and these are two young QBs that have that same natural ability. Vince Young had it too, but he's a headcase, so I don't compare him to either of Cam or Tim.What Cam has that Tebow and Vince don't is a legit rifle as well. This is where the Vick comps start to come into play, though my eyes say Vick is a twitch faster than any of them.
tebow just runs into people. it's a horrible comparison.

I know if he does, he gets a huge boost in my personal rankings... If the panthers win, or if Cam produces like he did against the Cards, this thread might erupt...

I think it is more possible than people are giving him credit for....The packers are going to give him all sorts of looks this Sunday, and Dom Capers is one of the best.. not to mention their corners are way better than Arizona's.. but we'll see... you never know

My guess is that the Panthers go down early.. 14-0.. and Cam has to start passing a lot early... and rushing numbers should be more in the 40-60 yard range this week

Thought this was interesting:
Newton completed nine of 13 attempts for a league-high 279 yards and 2 touchdowns on passes thrown 15 yards or more downfield Sunday. The nine completions were the second-most in the NFL in Week 1 (Drew Brees, 10) and the Packers have allowed the third-most completions 15 yards or more downfield since 2008.
From ESPN. Seems to me the Pack may be susceptible to what this offense wants to do. Be interesting to see if they can execute but seems like there is a shot here.

That is pretty interesting... Thanks for that!

I am playing him over Matt Ryan this week in one league. I have a strong team and thought I'd take the new shiny toy for a spin. I'll put it back in the garage if i don't like the ride.

I have Rodgers and Brady in my others so even if I had him he would still be #2.

Trying to figure out if I want to put in a waiver claim for him, when I've already got Flacco and Cutler. I need more help at WR, and with Meacham out there it just seems like a logical choice...

Very surprised that guys are starting him over the likes of Ryan and Freeman. Definitely takes some stones.

I'm starting the guy week 2.
I strongly considered it, but I'd have to active him from my dev squad to do it. He puts up another good game vs. the defending SB champs(not talking something crazy like last week, just "good" from a fantasy perspective) and it's going to be tough to keep him taxi'd, that's for sure. I'm rolling with Eli and Orton/Tebow presently so it's not like I have an embarrassment of riches at QB in the league where I own Cam.

I can't remember the last time something in the NFL has shocked me like this. He looks like a 10-year vet.

Stunning, especially considering how awful he looked in preseason. He is worth whatever Auburn paid him.

Cover boy for next year's Madden.

The bad times will come, how he responds will be telling. Just wait until the scouting reports catch up.

It looks like he'll have about 400 total yards, a TD and 3 picks. 2nd start against the reigning SB champs who got a bunch of talent back from the IR. Those are damn good numbers despite the picks...

FWIW, two of those INTs weren't exactly "awful." The first one for sure was just as much on the wideout. Tight coverage? Yes. Equal shot for the WR to come down with it though. Woodson just outworked him for it.

The last one was completely on Cam though. Reeeeally ugly. Threw it right to him.

Still, he had a 350 yard+ day w/a TD and almost 50 rushing yards sprinkled in vs. the defending SB champs and didn't look completely like Bambi. Can't really complain much as someone who's got him taxi squaded in a league or two.

Looking like he might have 500 total yards if they recover an onside kick. 432 passing yards and 47 rushing right now. MONSTER

426 yards passing for back to back weeks of 420+ yard passing. Just imagine if this guy could run the ball like, say, Michael Vick.

Agreed. Carolina should be happy with what he's shown so far, despite the losses. Week 1 was close, and no one really expected them to knock off Green Bay.Cam shouldn't be left on any waiver wires after this week, if people were being cautious of him.

Wow so many said he would be a bust. Too bad I listened. Life was much better before I got the internet in the 90s and had to make my own decisions on players.

Steve Smith you could have got for a couple of rocks in the off season...top 10 WR I do believe now.

How many people had the OVER on Cam putting up more passing yards than last week?
0%And if they did they deserved to be institutionalized. Yet... they would've been correct. Stranger than fiction.
The show Fantasy football weekly on the FAN said he would NEVER throw for more than his 422 the rest of his career. Tom Brady they said only down it twice in his career. Once last week.

You know there is a lot of truth to this...

If NFL did their draft today Cam goes #1 again obviously. But you think Pryor slips into first round?
