CAMP BATTLE (1 Viewer)

BATTLE OF THE WEEK: Steve Smith and Sinorice Moss for the third WR spot. Both are super fast and possess flashy moves, and at this juncture in camp it would appear that Smith, this year's No. 2 pick (as opposed to Moss, last year's No. 2 pick) has a slight edge. "He catches anything that can be caught," noted head coach Tom Coughlin

:football:

I also read somewhere that Smith could eventually take over the # 2 spot by the end of this season.

I like Smith too. Toomer is still a good WR and Eli seems to feel comfortable with him but in a season or two I think Smith is going to be real good. Unfortunately, Moss hasn't been able to stay healthy. He always seems to have these nagging injuries.

There's no battle there unless ya mean slot WR by 3rd WR and even still...

Smith is Toomer's backup, Moss is Plax's backup.

When(if) Plax and Toomer are healthy Smith will probably play more in the slot IMO with Moss being used for a "punch in the arm" with his super quickness. Moss has been healthy so rarely it seems unwise to think the Giants plan on him.

I don't think Smith is "super fast" - nore like fast, with great hands and very good routes. Got a TD tonight too, fwiw.

I think Moss would seem to do better out of the slot. Big play potential but he hasn't been healthy enough to see if he can come even CLOSE to a Santana type role.

Smith has a good chance to develop into a solid and perhaps quite productive NFL and fantasy wideout. I am a big Giants fan and think he will be a very good NFL #2, with a realistic ceiling of a decent #2 FF wideout.

WIth Jennings out for year

Plax out

Sinorice out

If no one's health improves, Mix would be default starter next week....Smith has gotta learn Plax's spot or we need a Mix bandwagon

Tell me something about Mix. I had never seen him play before tonight. I was impressed with him.

Me too. Smith's TD catch was pretty nice too, but if he gets knocked out all the time making catches like that he won't stay on the field much.

Very tall WR, 6-6 might be understating it as I saw him standing near Gaither tonight, with long arms and pretty good speed. PS player last year that's fighting/earning playing time in camp. Now, injuries have given him an opportunity obviously but don't let that downplay his effort since being on the PS last year. He would have been given a chance to show what he's got anyway. He's probably 5th or 6th on the Giants WR depth chart. Tyree had a good game last year but I don't think he's much of a WR. He's a terrific ST and will always be listed as a WR but....Jennings is a former PS player that was a truck driver or somesuch(some story like that) when the Giants "found him" and sent him to NFLE. He's track star fast which is what i believe got him his chance. However, I don't think he's much of a WR either.I could easily see Mix being the 5th.5th means nothing for FF 99.9% of the time. However, he backs up two of the most oft-injured players in Moss and Plax so there might be a slim chance he's playing in 07. Smith does not know Plax's position and could/should learn it. He's been Amani's protege. Learning the opposite spot would negatively impact Mix's chances of playing of course.
