Can only keep 4 of these 5... (1 Viewer)

Hoping someone can shed some insight.

.5 PPR keeper league (12 teams) pretty standard scoring.

$100 Budget for drafting (less keeper values)

I can only keep 4 (players only go up $1 per year)

Lamar Jackson $1.50

Derrick Henry $11.00

Davante Adams $6.50

DeAndre Hopkins $7.50

Tyreek Hill $4.00

Who do I drop? Or....

Only other player owned in league who may be an upgrade is a $3.00 Alvin Kamara. And if I try to trade for him. Offer what 2 players?

Thanks for any responses!!!

I'd drop Hopkins.  They are all good players, but Hopkins will save you the most cap space other than Henry and you have three WRs.  Good chance you wouldn't be able to get a running back like Henry for $11 if you dropped him.

You could make a case for any of the three receivers being the best this year so it's really a crapshoot.  I think the difference in talent isn't great enough to keep the highest paid of the three over the other two.

It would be between Henry and Hopkins for me.  My choice would depend on what top RB's usually go for in this league and I have no idea how they get bid up.  If $11 is average for top RB's I probably keep Henry.  If it is at the high end and most are less than that I might gamble since you are saving 11% of your cap.

Thank you for your responses. To answer your questions a RB like Henry would go for about $40-$50 in the draft (I paid $43.50 for Dalvin Cook last season). A WR like Hopkins would probably go for around $30-$35.. i was also thinking of throwing Hopkins back so thank you for the confirmation.. or possibly trading Hopkins AND either Adams or Hill for Kamara, even with the possible holdout he has great keeper value and still pretty young. Since I can’t keep Hopkins it kind of makes sense to do.. good idea to trade two WR for a $3.00 Kamara?

It seems like that is a lot to give up as that guy is getting a deal too.  I think i rather keep Adams and force someone to spend $30 on Hopkins which is also a benefit to you too.

Good point, I think that is the route I’ll go. I was just thinking that for me it’s really like trading Davante Adams for Kamara str8 up, since I’m not keeping Hopkins anyway.. but yea it would also be good to have someone spend $30 on hopkins at draft. Thanks again 👍🏈 ($3.00 Kamara still tempting though)

I agree with Gally...  Jackson, Hill and Adams are definite...  the price difference between Henry and Hopkins is a $3.50 difference, but you get a solid RB... and I really like Hopkins.  As to your thought on the Kamara trade idea, I would not do it.

You may be right.. but I feel like WR is so deep this year. I actually ended up trading the dude pretty much and entire keeper roster for Kamara. I gave up 3 guys, only ONE of which I was going to be able to keep (Davante Adams). The trade was Davante Adams $6.50, DeAndre Hopkins $7.50, and David Johnson $5.00 for a $3.00 Kamara.. ($100 budget) I know that is just recockulous, but the way I looked at it.. Kamara is younger, cheaper, and being drafted maybe 8 or so pics earlier than Adams... and again, in a way, this trade for me, pre-draft, is really just Davante Adams for Kamara str8 up since I wasn’t keeping Hopkins or Johnson. Anyway, we’ll see if it works out.. Although I’m fully aware I just completely turned homey’s team around as he only had literally Kamara as a great keeper, I feel as though I improved my team now and for next few years. RB is more valuable than WR especially this year. Especially pass catching ones. Plus Alvin Kamara has the coolest name since Atari Bigby. It was either a pretty dumb move or some evil genius #####. Most likely the former. Time will tell.

Keeper squad:

Lamar Jackson $1.50

Alvin Kamara $3.00

Derrick Henry $11.00

Tyreek Hill $4.00

I’ll have $80.50 to spend at draft, at least half of which will be spent on Dalvin Cook or Ezekiel Elliott, and we’re off to the races. Thanks again for everyone dropping some insight.

This must be a start three RB league?  Otherwise that money may be better spend on filling out your WR roster with top end players.  What are the starting requirements?  I still think you hurt your team in relation to the overall grand scheme of things more than it helped in the finite only looking at your team perspective.  I actually think Adams isn't that far behind Kamara (if at all) with all the current turmoil surrounding him.  You also don't know if he will end up in as friendly a fantasy situation in the future so this may be a short term benefit.

I would not have done that trade at all.  IMO, Adams and Kamara are identical in value.  If anything, I would have tried to trade Hopkins and Henry for Kamara.  And I would have let Hopkins go or Henry go and have owners dry up their cash quicker.  In the long run...I am really doubting who I would keep of the original 5 and after doing some more research, Henry would have been my drop and I would have kept Hopkins
