Can the bucs get Calvin Johnson? (1 Viewer)

Hey I would like to get your guys opinion, on the bucs getting Calvin at the 4th spot on Saturday? He seems to be the best overall pick of the draft but other teams like Oakland need a QB, Detroit needs help with their line, and Clevand needs a QB also and have their sights set on Quinn.

The only way I can see us not getting Calvin is if the Raiders aquire a FA Qb before the draft but it looks like no one wants to go there and play for them so the Bucs look to have a good shot at landing him at the 4th spot.

Thanks for your opinions, the Bucs need some change offensively and hopefully this will get them over the hump.

they may get him but there's no way he falls to the 4th spot.

If they want him they MUST move to 2. I imagine that will happen if Raiders don't select Johnson. Detroit is a guaranteed LOCK to trade the pick if they don't take Calvin themselves and I don't think they will unless they take him to trade him. If Johnson goes 1, then all bets are off and Detroit will probably not get Value for the pick, if Russel goes one, then Detroit hold all the cards and I believe will trade with Tampa, Washington, or Atlanta without a doubt!

I really do see the outside possibility that Tampa could get him at #4. If you would assume nobody is willing to pay the price to move up and Oakland drafts Russell I agrre that you could see Detroit take OT, Cleveland take Quinn and Johnson being there.

Most likely though if he made it to #3 a team would try to jump ahead of Tampa to get him.

If I am running Tampa Bay I would be happy just sitting at the #4 spot and taking who falls there.

I agree completely! the feeling around T.B is that they are in a good position. They are not desperate to move up and get CJ. #4 is a great place to be this year.

It is a great place to be but if the guy they want is Johnson he won't be there at 4. A lot of teams consider Johnson to be the best player in the draft and will surely make a move to try and get him prior to him reaching TB (since everyone knows that TB wants him and will select him at #4).

If the price is right the Bucs will move up to take CJ, but they are not in a position to give away 3 picks for a WR. Too many holes to fill on an aging defense. It wouldn't break my heart to see them package the #4, Simms & a lower 2nd day pick to move up to #1 overall for CJ. Saturday should be fun!

Let see how it could shake out.

1. Oak - Russell

2. Det - Trade, but with who (TB, Min, Atl...)

3. Cle - No CJ; maybe a trade

4. TB - Yep

5. Ari - No trade up

6. Was - No trade up

7. Min - Yep; trade up

8. Atl - Yep; trade up

I think he ends up in TB one way or another. Det would be smart to trade with TB. If they trade down to 7 or 8, there is a decent possibility that the player/s they are targeting is gone. I really doubt they have 5 or 6 guys all ranked similarly. Two spots down to 4 and they still get the top defensive player on their board.

I've heard it all depends on Trent Green and Miami as to where CJ goes. Rumors have it that Al Davis wants Culpepper. If TG goes to Miami, and Miami cuts C-pep, then Al will sign C-pep. If thats the case, then they will go with CJ in the draft, or trade out. If it looks like nothing is getting done on the TG Front, then they will probably take a qb at #1.

Can't see the Raiders passing on Calvin Johnson. My guess is that they are simply making every other team waste their time dreaming up trade scenarios. They can ship Moss off to Green Bay, grab a QBin the 2nd or 3rd that isn't as big a risk as Russell or Quinn. They can throw Porter in the nearest garbage can becasue that is his value. Line up Calvin and Curry and move forward with players that bust their ### on and off the field.
