Can the Cardinals let Boldin go now? (1 Viewer)

Boldin is my favorite Cardinal, no one plays the WR position with more heart, but these past few weeks have shown that Breaston is a more than capable fill-in at a much cheaper price. Ideally I'd like the Cards to keep Boldin and everyone be happy, but for the money he wants/deserves, it just isn't feasible or in the best interest of the team to tie up that much salary cap in 2 WRs.

It's always tough to see a fan favorite go away, but time heals everything and everyone gets over it. They can deal Q now while his value is high.

I'd have to look but it seems like Fitz or Boldin are hurt every year(one if not both) so I figure depth is quite important.

So they can draft a WR or two every year to keep a fresh rotation of possible diamonds in the rough going.

that might be what an established well oiled machine franchise does. I don't see the "glad we're finally winning" Cardinals doing that. Too many losing seasons are right in their rearview mirror. Plus Warner vs anyone else that they've had seems to make all the difference to them. They're a Warner injury away from being real concerned. Don't need to worry about the WRs on top of that.ETA one example, but one, might be to look at the Cowboys. How many players have been trotted out opposite Owens or Irvin to try and get a 2nd top WR. They're very fortunate to have two.

I believe he's under control through 2010 I believe. Then they can franchise him as well.

If I'm not getting a 1st and 3rd (at a minimum).....pass.

agreed. I'd love to see Boldin on the phins, but his asking price is (or at least should be) high.

Yes, that is his contract status. Boldin says he separates the football from the business, but I'm a little concerned about Rosenhaus getting in his head and becoming a distraction over the next two years. Add that to the fact that Q says he doesn't even speak to Whisenhunt and ya got a somewhat combustible situation.
