Can the Giants Get to Roethlisberger Today (1 Viewer)

This week, the Steelers put themselves (story found here) through the horror of watching replays of the Eagles debacle earlier this season, when Big Ben was abused by their defense. Do the Steelers have what it takes at home to give Roethlisberger and the Steelers offense the time it takes to establish a decent passing day against one of the league's better pass defenses (11th in avg. pass yards allowed per game) in the NYG's? The Giants have allowed only 6 td passes this year, which ties them for 4th best in giving up TD passes.

As a Steeler fan, I hope Ben comes out of this game healthy. He's getting his ### kicked this weekend. He'll get his passing #s though. I like Miller, and to a lesser extent Ward for the Steelers. I don't think the Giants have much trouble with this "vaunted Steelers defense" this week. Burress can light up this secondary. Polo, coming off a concussion gets to bounce off Jacobs for 60 minutes? There's not much I like about this game for the Steelers, and that's before you take into account that the Pitt LT, M.Smith is likely out, Parker is out, and who knows what's going on with Aaron Smith (IMO the defensive MVP) and if he plays, how effective will he be? C.Hampton hasn't been 100% all year and the only ray of hope has been the sack totals of the OLBs, and the fact that they're playing @ home.

All that said, I see this game being just competitive enough to keep the Giants on their toes but winning by a TD. Ben gets the #### beat out of him, and finishes with 220, 1 TD & 1 pick. O.K. #s, if he makes it through the game. Ward gets 85 & a score. Miller gets 70. MeMo gets 90 combined. Biggest fantasy day is Burress with 130 & a TD, or Jacobs with 90 & a score. Eli barely outscores Ben, unless you're penalized much for turnovers, then Eli is about 8 points better.

Well, I guess w/ Plax being punished, that helps the Steelers A LOT. I was expecting Burress to torch the Pitt secondary today. Now it's up to Jacobs/Ward/Bradshaw. Downgrade my Eli projections, and I think the final score is <5 points difference. A pick 'em now.

D. Anderson and the Browns, however, were able to take it to the Giants defense on Monday night in week 6. Anderson was 18/29 for 310 yards and 2 tds. TE Dinkins and Braylon each had scores.

Looking at the game recap, the Browns were all over the Giants defense that game.

So maybe Roethlisberger and the Steelers offense will be fine. :bag:

It's getting late though if you are thinking of benching Big Ben in favor of a QB with an early start.

I've got Favre plugged in ahead of him right now. I might normally go with Ben here, but I'm just deathly afraid of the Giants pass rush keeping him on his heels/behind all day long.

Since Moore was inserted at RB, and Starks at LT, Ben's jersey has been relatively clean.

These changes make all the difference.

Moore's receiving skills force Ben/Arians to use the checkdown and RB routes far more frequently resulting in far fewer LB blitz options.

Starks, surprisingly, looks very competent at LT over the course of this/last season.

The Giants will get to him a couple of times, but I can't see a Philly repeat.
