Do you guys think Tony Scheffler can become an elite tight end in the NFL? What current player do you think he will most resemble in terms of productivity?
Is this in code or something? Are you saying he is similar to Heap? And has the relationship with Anderson that Witten has with Romo? I think that's a stretch on all accounts. He's decent but hasn't shown me anything in terms of RAC ability of Heap. Heap is an elite talent that just can't stay healthy. Scheffler is more like a mid-level talent IMO. More like a Randy McMichael or Eric Johnson.Yes, and Todd Heap with the same relationship Witten has with Romo.
Who's Anderson???The OP asked 2 questions....will Scheffler be an elite TE and what player will his productivity most resemble. Bloom answered Yes to Q #1 and Todd Heap to Q #2, adding the extra little tidbit that the relationship will be similar to the one Witten has with Romo.Is this in code or something? Scheffler is a better physical talent than you think - he's got the same long frame and flexibility as Heap, but actually ran the 40 faster than Heap. Heap has better receiving instincts, but some of that is inexperience on the part of Scheffler. Scheffler is definitely a better talent than McMichael or Johnson, and strictly physically, he has better tools than Heap.Is this in code or something? Are you saying he is similar to Heap? I agree that Graham is more of a blocker and always thought he would be a deterrent to Schefflers progress, but after looking at the numbers I'm not so sure of that.Graham has 13 receptions and zero TD's on the season so far. Scheffler has 10 receptions and 2 or 3 TD's even after missing the first 4 weeks. Granted, that's not a lot of catches but I suspect that'll gradually increase. And as far as I'm concerned, I can deal with 2 catches as long as 1 of those is a TD.Seems like Scheffler should continue to improve, but, as someone noted earlier, I think the presence of Graham may limit his upside. To be sure, Graham was brought in more for his blocking abilities, but he seems to be involved in the passing game from time to time as well.
The problem though is that TDs are unpredictable - targets are the key. One or two catches isn't going to cut it unless, as you say, the targets increase sizably. Or if he turns into the next Bubba Franks (of old) where every 1 yard TD goes to him. And that's tough to bank on.Graham has 13 receptions and zero TD's on the season so far. He is a good play this week vs the weak Detroit secondary. The problem though is that TDs are unpredictable - targets are the key. Not just that, it also works in the other direction - when the play breaks down, Cutler looks for Scheffler - so Scheffler knows how to find a good spot to sit down in, and Cutler automatically looks for Scheffler - look at the TD last week, this is almost exactly what happened. Same thing during Scheffler's 2 TD game late last year. The relationship off the field is a big part of the picture on the field - these guys have the mindmeld.I think Scheffler has a good ability to find the soft spots in the zone and present himself as a trustworthy target for Cutler.
You sure about this? The Moz said:He is hardly on the field
He's a slower version of Kyle Brady...Is this in code or something? Are you saying he is similar to Heap? And has the relationship with Anderson that Witten has with Romo?
