Can we discuss pet peeves here? (4 Viewers)

The bank ones are all good, nothing worse than waiting in that line. Everyone there is a moron. The only reason to even see a teller that I can think of is to withdraw more than your ATM limit. And what are these slips you all mention? You don’t just walk up, insert your card, and state your business?

Citibank had a line specifically for those with either a mortgage through them or a certain amount in their account - 90% of the time that line is closed... The anger from always seeing this line closed is why I switched banks.

I don't even hesitate anymore. I move their cart. I don't wait to see if they notice me standing there. I don't say "Excuse me." I just move it and go along with my business. I figure if people are that oblivious to the world around them, they likely won't even notice their cart moved.
Move their cart and place a random item in the cart.

when you spend 2 hours snowblowing, only to have the shear pin on your blower break... and then the city plow comes around and re-buries the end of your driveway.
addendum:  when you buy replacement shear pins and the nuts that come in the package are too ####ing small :hot:

Driving to work yesterday after a big snowstorm and see so many people who don't brush off their cars before driving and just use wipers and defroster to clear their windows.

Always have replacement sheer pins on the ready

rookie mistake
i bought enough to have backups

unfortunately they were all bought at Home Depot. my hope is since they are all individually packaged that maybe the backups have correct size nuts :hot:

Getting flipped the bird when the other driver is at fault.

I was in the left lane approaching a car stopped at a red light in front of me with no one to his right.  Light turns green well before I get there, so I'm not thinking I'll have to slow down much at all, but the car isn't moving.  I slow down and stop behind him while another car in the right lane goes by him through the intersection.  I'm thinking that that will catch his attention but he's still not budging as the seconds go by.  I give him a quick, friendly "beep beep" and see him look up and then start driving.  His arm goes out the window, and being the naive person I am, I am expecting a nice way of apology. Arm raises and finger gets extended.  #####.

The next day, I'm in the middle of town, approaching a 4-way stop.  Guy in a truck on the right is turning left on to my road, but he apparently can't wait for a pedestrian in the lane he's trying to turn into to finish crossing the street.  He turns into my lane, coming right at me and causing me to brake quickly before he swerved into his lane.  I don't even honk, but just raise my hand off the steering wheel for a second in frustration, like "What are you doing?"  He gives me the finger as he flies by.

Good one!

Then you get stuck behind them as their snow they couldn't be bothered to brush their car off comes piling onto your windshield as they drive.

Newsflash, people are #######s.

Was getting off the highway the other day. Ramp splits into left and right turn lanes.  Guy in front of me gets over into the right lane.  I start to go past in the left.  Just as I get up to him, he cuts back into the left lane and cuts me off.  I gave him a quick honk.  When we got to the top of the ramp, he puts it in park, gets out, turns to face me, and fully extends his arm in the air to flip me off.  Like he was flipping off the whole world.  I chuckled.

What year are you posting this from?  My bank updated to card swipe transactions years ago
My  bank hasn't - granted i haven't been in there in about a year

And what did you use before swipe transactions to take large sums of cash out of your checking?

Second dude was clearly having a bad day.  I try to laugh these off and think about the fact that their day/life probably sucks compared to mine if this type of thing brings them to flip someone else off.

Biggest pet peeve is people not using their turning signals.  Just drives me crazy.  That, and when they do use their turning signal but wait until they already started turning.  Like that did any good.

It peeves me that all of my family would like to see dead other than my brother.

seriously- many involve people's lack of awareness of those around them, whether in grocery store, at malls, on streets,  or driving.

lately i have noticed that quite a few people in my town while making a turn, do not stay in their lane. not just a little swerve but instead of staying in their lane, checking to see if it is clear, then changing lanes...they just drive directly into the next one over preventing other people from entering traffic or cutting them off.  gears are grinded!

When traffic is stopped/backed up mile(s) long and some moron comes barreling in the merge lane thinking everyone will let them in (of course they don't signal either). Best part is when they look over at you/throw their arms up like you should just let them in :lmao: . Think again jackass :)

These are the only types of people I don't ever let in. These instances really makes me treasure not having a daily work commute.

I know this has been mentioned, but gaps at stop lights due to cell phone use are ridiculous these days.
I don't think it's even cell phone use.  I see more and more people approaching red lights extremely slowly, like they don't want to fully put on the brake.
People are oblivious to how this backs traffic up behind them, preventing people from pulling out into the road, slowing traffic at the previous intersection, etc.

I don't understand.  If he's coming from an on-ramp why aren't you letting him merge?

Especially frustrating when you're approaching a signal with a left turn arrow and you need to get over into that lane in time to make it but you're stuck behind one of those people before the lane opens up.

Not coming from on ramp. CIty Streets. 3 Lanes merging to 2/Right Lane Ends Merge Left. Everyone has already merged with traffic backed up due to construction the past couple months..........but there's always a collection of impatient jackasses that come up 100 MPH in a 40 out of control upon slowly moving/stopped traffic then trying to get in front of people that have been at a near standstill for 5-10 minutes.

Love watching their faces and reaction when you just won't let them in. You don't give a #### about the safety of others......i don't give a #### about you.

You're supposed to merge where the lane actually ends.  Your first post on this indicated that "traffic is stopped/backed up mile(s) long".  Well, that's because of people like you.

Don’t move to Dallas. It’s an epidemic here.

Old people behind the wheel.

Just got home from running some errands. The driving behavior I witnessed from old people was just absurd. I volunteered to pick some things up for my wife since she was doing her annual get stressed by the holidays routine. So I of course put myself in some guaranteed to interact with old drivers situations.

1. Parking lot at Joann fabrics. I am leaving the store and I have to wait for an old woman parking. She is all over the place austin powersing this thing and making pretty sudden forward and backward moves so I have no way to get around her without walking through a snowbank. There are 100 open spots and she just needs to have the one next to me.

2. Parking lot for nothing bundt cakes. Only one way in. Unfortunately right next to talbots. There is a lexus backing out of her spot I have to wait for. She gets half way out, just enough to eliminate the gap between her and the curb and then she stops and I see the trunk open. Out of Talbots walks another old woman who then loads her bags in the trunk. Then she climbs in the back seat only to immediately climb out and head back into the store. The woman driving the lexus just sits there and decides to reopen trunk. I start honking at this point. So of course she gets flustered and backs all the way into the curb then drives back into the spot. She was pretty much incapable of moving her head more than 20 degrees and obviously incapable of any rational thought.

3. Left turn lane. We get an arrow. Car in front of me doesnt move. I cant even tell if it has a driver. I honk, car starts to go, then stops. Light is now yellow. Then old dude decides he doesnt want to turn left he wants to pull a u-turn. So he is efforting the sharp turn and of course cant get it done fast enough and now traffic is coming. So he is blocking the far left lane and the other two lanes now have cars moving through. So there he is stuck blocking one lane and frozen. Lights finally turn and he is able to go, but nope, he is still just frozen. At least cross traffic isnt blocked. I get the arrow again and he finally goes when I go. That guy is going to kill somebody. Just ridiculous.

I called my wife and told her I would finish her stuff after 7pm when all the old people are sound asleep on their plastic covered lazy boys.
Wow, neat day at Joann’s Fabrics and shopping for bundt cake.

How about the idiots stopped several cars back at a red light and who honk their horn 0.013 milliseconds after it turns green.

At my Costco there's a guy there in a booth that will not let you do that, if your fuel door is on the left and you park on the right of the pump (or vice versa) he makes you move your car.
I've done this numerous time - I wouldn't move - he can can go find his supervisor and I'll be done before he gets back.  There's no reason to do this - I pay attention when people need to pull through and stay out of their way.

Not wrong.  Everyone merging where the lanes merge is the most efficient way to merge.  So please stop playing illogical traffic patrol and let people merge where you're supposed to actually merge.

What is a zipper merge?

When a lane is closed in a construction zone, a zipper merge occurs when motorists use both lanes of traffic until reaching the defined merge area, and then alternate in "zipper" fashion into the open lane.

Benefits

Reduces differences in speeds between two lanes

Reduces the overall length of traffic backup by as much as 40 percent

Reduces congestion on freeway interchanges

Creates a sense of fairness and equity that all lanes are moving at the same rate

Zipper merge vs early merge

When most drivers see the first “lane closed ahead” sign in a work zone, they slow too quickly and move to the lane that will continue through the construction area. This driving behavior can lead to unexpected and dangerous lane switching, serious crashes and road rage.

Zipper merging, however, benefits individual drivers as well as the public at large. Research shows that these dangers decrease when motorists use both lanes until reaching the defined merge area and then alternate in “zipper” fashion into the open lane. Watch a brief video of how it works.

So I'm supposed to merge late?

Yes! As you see the “lane closed ahead” sign and traffic backing up, stay in your current lane up to the point of merge. Then take turns with other drivers to safely and smoothly ease into the remaining lane. Don't worry about being "Minnesota nice." When traffic is heavy and slow, it is much safer for motorists to remain in their current lane until the point where traffic can orderly take turns merging.

When not to do the zipper merge

When traffic is moving at highway speeds and there are no backups, it makes sense to move sooner to the lane that will remain open through construction. The bottom line is to merge when it is safe to do so.

I'm also not a fan of the person who fails to dinner their high beams whether they are behind me or coming towards me. It creates a pretty visible artery track in my head.

They saw a news story once on how you need to leave space to escape the rampant car jackers infesting their city.

At this point I consider this a public service. So many morons looking down at their phones at stoplights. 50% chance that they are actually alerting the person to go instead of finishing their game of candy crush.
