This is true. There is soo much truth here. I have this belief that "inconsistent" driving habits are more dangerous than just regular bad driving habits. As a fellow driver--you can just look at the road and notice that some drivers are aggressive and some are passive. The aggressive ones might tailgate, speed or do constant lane changes--the passive ones might drive too slowly, maybe act slowly when they change lanes....etc. ---but regardless--- an aware driver notices the types of drivers around them and adjusts their own habits accordingly. However, the reason why I agree with your pet peeve is because you are describing drivers that have inconsistent driving habits, and it is very hard to predict this type of driving. It makes it more dangerous for everybody on the road. If you are an aggressive driver--drive aggressively--if you are passive--drive passively-----but don't change your driving style randomly so that nobody else can predict it.
neverSo you don't listen to the radio?
You forgot your blinker handlers.never
i have a spotter in the passenger seat and cameras all around to ensure i'm fully aware at all times
I literally have 3 meetings schedule every Wednesday at 9am.People who don’t seem to check my calendar before scheduling a meeting and also people who don’t block out time in theirs and then decline a meeting because they’re busy at that time
Similarly, I'm not sure why peanut butter needs to have a vacuum seal tighter than Fort Knox. Does Peter Pan want me to eat him or not?it's probably 50/50 that you will have to dig out a knife or scissors to finish the job......
you want to receive and email for every email you send?I send emails with attachments all the time, but I guess it's up to me to follow up and make sure they got the emails and attachments. because them sending 'email and attachment received' is serious rocket surgery stuff or might sprain their foreheads as they mash them against the keyboard doing whatever the hell it is they do.
Why not just send with a read receipt?I send emails with attachments all the time, but I guess it's up to me to follow up and make sure they got the emails and attachments. because them sending 'email and attachment received' is serious rocket surgery stuff or might sprain their foreheads as they mash them against the keyboard doing whatever the hell it is they do.
If I've attached files- yes, I want to know that you received themyou want to receive and email for every email you send?
The read receipt doesn't confirm that the other person could open the attachments.... Does it?Why not just send with a read receipt?
You’re ready for that vacationIf I've attached files- yes, I want to know that you received them

Maybe the exact scenario in question is going to need to be fleshed out, but if I'm sending an attachment and need confirmation, I send a read receipt and the onus is now on the other party to follow up if they can't open the attachment. Until I hear further, the responsibility is now theirs to confirm otherwise. While some strange scenario may exist to be an exception, I would think this covers 99% of emails with attachments. The read receipt doesn't confirm that the other person could open the attachments.... Does it?

I'm an architect. I'm always sending out drawings or paperwork to contractors, vendors, subs, clients, etc. My projects don't have the luxury of waiting around (I don't imagine anybody's work does)- and I've been burned enough in my career by people claiming weeks later not to have gotten something that I've sent. I don't think the onus should be on the sender to confirm receipt... but tbh, I also don't add the read-receipt- I guess I should.Maybe the exact scenario in question is going to need to be fleshed out, but if I'm sending an attachment and need confirmation, I send a read receipt and the onus is now on the other party to follow up if they can't open the attachment. I hear ya, but such is life.at 0-3 so far, I guess I'm in the minority here.
seems like it should be a common professional courtesy to let the other person know that you received whatever it is they sent- via email or hardcopy. I'm certainly expected to know whether it's been received on the other end or not... so, as such, I always let people know that I received a package or attachment when I get it. seems unprofessional and discourteous not to. just me, I guess.

I am cordially letting you know this was readI liked the other post. this one, I hate.
I guess that if something is being sent and is time sensitive, and requires confirmation, that should be spelled out in the emai. Something to the effect of "please confirm you are able to access the attached documents." Assuming that every email with an attachment needs to be confirmed I feel is overboard. I send and receive over one hundred emails on a daily basis. To add in the responsibility of tracking the receipt of each of those emails, and sending a confirmation email to everyone I receive with an attachment would mean I do nothing else but that all day long.I'm an architect. This might be industry/email load specific.
"I would have called, but I was driving and didn't have my ear buds in.""sorry, my phone was dead"
"my messages must not be going through"
"i couldn't find my phone"
"my kids made me late"
etc etc etc

I can't stand getting those emails that just say "Thanks".I agree*.

How about thx so you don’t have to waste as much time reading? Same question if it is in the title instead of the body?dino259 said:I can't stand getting those emails that just say "Thanks".

If it's trash day morning and the truck hasn't come, fine. If it's after the mid August truck run and the loosely wrapped up, 3 pound bag of doggie guano and it's been fermenting in the bottom of the can for 8 hours then it's a peeve. Take your dog's crap bag home and create your own VX trash can.I wouldn't care but people tend to get butt hurt about that sort of stuff when it comes to their personal property.
While we're on the topic, refs who want to move the game along as quickly as possible since they get paid per game whether they call it clean and it takes a few minutes longer, or they let kids mug each other on the court so they can save a little bit of time.players feeling the need to slap hands or fist bump after a made or missed free throw.....its a freakin free throw.....dude doesn't need a fist bump or hand slap....just stay in your spot on the lane and let's move on...
curious.....did a ref actually tell you this? While we're on the topic, refs who want to move the game along as quickly as possible since they get paid per game whether they call it clean and it takes a few minutes longer, or they let kids mug each other on the court so they can save a little bit of time.
Maddening.Similarly, I'm not sure why peanut butter needs to have a vacuum seal tighter than Fort Knox.
And the related packaging with an ineffective "tear here" feature. Even if things go well and you tear it perfectly along the dashed line, there's a good chance there's still adhesive inside the line, so you either have to pull the bag open anyway or get out a pair of scissors and cut it open further in.ineffective pull tabs on food. ie: the little foil on stock/broth, almonds, milk, etc. don't work and/or break.![]()
No, but I've been coaching long enough in my area to know how certain refs handle games. I help out with the tournaments with the local traveling association, and I know in the morning when the refs show up which courts will be done early and which will be finishing later.curious.....did a ref actually tell you this?
