Can we discuss pet peeves here? (4 Viewers)

What's worse, it's anybody from anywhere else who shows up here and thinks it's ok. Out of staters are the ones doing it the most.
Never been to NYC, but went to DC last summer for vacation.  The horn honking was constant, particularly at people in crosswalks.  My schtick was to tell my kids that they were honking to say hello and I would enthusiastically wave at them as I walked through the crosswalks. :bye:

People walking down the middle of parking lot lanes.

STOP WALKING 3 WIDE DOWN THE ####### LANE#@!!@#@!##@!

My new one after this weekend. People in Hotels that hang out in the hallway yelling to their friends like they are at a back yard BBQ. Hey #######, you are in a place where, believe it or not, many people are trying to sleep at 4 am. It's great you and your friends managed to actually go out and have some fun. But how about toning it down about 400 decibels?

This one is probably just me but...

People with an injured foot using a one leg scooter instead of crutches like a normal injured person .   You have a walking boot on for cripes sake.

Depending on the injury (achilles tear for one), you can't put ANY weight on it right away.  Sometimes it is needed.

Plus, from my observation, people tend to move a little quicker on the scooter, so what's the problem?

They look ridiculous..

I'm not saying to put any weight on your foot

Man up and use crutches :)

I had a client show up with one of those last year. It took everything I had to keep him as a client.

Now that I think about, the ******* still owes me money.

See - I bet if they used crutches they would have paid on time.   Much more honorable people

It’s getting really annoying how so many now call douchy/ entitled people “delicate snowflakes”.

Just call them what they are. A-holes and scumbags

Not sure if listed here, but when you are done pumping your gas, leave the pump area and park your car if you want to get a Coke and some gas station sushi. Don't leave your vehicle at the pump with 5 other people trying to get gas.

Having to add items to your cart online just to see the price.

And now, some of the sites make you login or create an account to get to the checkout.  It shouldn't be this complicated.

so we're calling email signatures "contact placemats" now?
It's not even a good implied analogy - who puts contact info on physical placemats?

"Hey, can I get your business mailing address?"

"Sure, here's a placemat. Sorry about the crumbs, was eating some brownies earlier."

Speaking of filling up the gas, is there a delivery service for this like everything else? I would use that all the time, since that way I would never have to go anywhere.

If you never go anywhere, why do you need gas?

Great idea but it’s probably been proposed before and shot down by some sort of EPA regulations and/or the oil companies resisting.

Too many emvironmental hazards involved with a tanker truck just rolling through suburban neighborhoods and dishing out gas.

I also assume the oil oil companies would reject and lobby against it because large trucks are efficient Diesel engines that can haul a lot of standard gasoline. This would cut in to their profits.

Anybody who adjusts your driver or passenger seat (more than simply sliding it forward or back) for a short ride.

Two recent examples are my wife's co-worker whom she recently gave a ride to work (about two miles) and the valet at the hotel we were at last weekend.

Are you assuming they paid at the pump? I can’t image the store has much interest in people who haven’t paid doing this. Also, if you haven’t paid, can the pump even be used for a new sale?

I assume that is his thinking. I imagine the number of people that still walk in and pay cash is pretty near zero anymore.

I will always walk in and pay for gas in cash. Gas stations are major havens for electronic credit card readers that steal your credit card information.

Don't they make you pay first though? Here is you are using cash, you have to pre-pay. So still no reason to leave the car at the pump.

You do know the car has to be parked at the pump before you pay the cash inside, right?  And you have to leave it there to go insdie to pay?

Oh absolutely. I fully agree that any person that leaves their car occupying a gas pump for a moderately longer time than necessary  (regardless of form of payment) is a legit pet peeve. I was solely commenting the major risks involved with paying for gas via credit/debit card at the pumps.

You can sometimes spot a jimmied reader if you remember to look before you swipe. I also use an app on my phone to scan the frequencies used by card skimmers. Once I see that the reader doesn't look tampered with, and the scanner gives me an all clear, then I feel safe enough.
Ooo, that's nice.  What app?

Pretty sure he made it obvious he was talking about people that he has already seen pump the gas.

Another peeve - Mothers that leave their kids in the car for "just a moment," then are totally shocked and crying all over the news when the running car is stolen with the kids inside. They should have their parental rights revoked immediately.

This just drives me nuts.

While at dinner,  whether at home or eating out,  those who have to look at their phone after every received text.  It's as if they are completely addicted to their devices.  Why can't people just enjoy a good meal and friends without being married to their phone?  If looking at their phone after getting a text isn't bad enough, it's worse when they feel the need to text back.  I'm not referring to special circumstances, just those that do this all the time.  I believe they get a good feeling high when they receive a text.  It's an epidemic.

guy i know likes to touch/shove/push your arm to emphasize a point while he's talking. or if he thinks you aren't paying attention. or if you momentarily look down or away. or blink. or don't respond with a laugh to a punchline.

he likes to tell long, long, long stories... about everything..... so by the end of a few hours it's like your arm has been slammed in a door.
