Would it bother you if one of your nimrod co-workers who knows your name, but you're definitely not friends with this person, can't bother to address you by name in an email. 

You get "hey there, could you forward me a copy of that TPS report"  .... instead of "Dave, could you forward me a copy of that TPS report."

Seems like this is a show of lack of respect.

I understand, but you can't assume that they only have it one ear and not both.

If it's an earbud, I would assume it's one ear before assuming both, since one is legal in my state (NY) and I do it all the time myself when on longer drives with my family in the car.  I get bored quickly from music, but my kids hate listening to podcasts and my wife hates sports radio and most of the podcasts I'd listen to.  So I've got the podcast playing in my left ear while my right ear is free for the occasional conversation inside the car and the noises outside.

If you have earphones in both ears, you have a less chance at hearing horns, emergency vehicles, etc.

Disagree. It has nothing to do with the fact they're wearing ear buds. It has everything to do with the fact that they are terrible drivers and probably also inconsiderate #######s with short attention spans. Please don't besmirch those of us who, on occasion, choose to wear earbuds and do so responsibly and without incident.

No because it is against the law in Virginia.  Even if it wasn't I wouldn't do it.

Plus there is no way to say that your hearing is not reduced with ear buds in.  You still can hear things, but not as well, which is the problem.

Of course your hearing is reduced, but not in ways you assume.  If I'm in my car with someone and have the ear buds in, if they start talking to me I may have trouble making out what they are saying.  However, I can't miss the fact they are talking to me.  You still hear all the noise around you, especially noises designed to get your attention like horns and sirens.  Really, you can't miss those.  You also hear noises you're conditioned  to like screeching tires, the doppler effect of cars passing...heck, you even hear the general cabin noise of driving.

I'm curious: Does Virginia have a hands-free phone law while driving?

Prob the 3rd time I've mentioned this one in here... It has been happening more frequently lately. 

Problem is I’ve been in several buildings where either they don’t allow you in the stairwell except during emergencies or the stairs don’t take you to the same place the elevators do.  In general I agree though.

If the people wearing headphones were also super aware of their surroundings it wouldnt be a problem. At least the other idiots that block aisles or stand in front of the merchandise that you want will actually move when you say excuse me using a normal voice. I dont want to have to tap somebody on the shoulder or yell.

Long time pet peeve:   On the highway, people you catch up to easily who then speed up when you try to pass them. And frequently then get in the passing lane to pass someone else but slow down to their speed while driving alongside of them.

New pet peeve, on interstate with light traffic.  Happened several times Friday.  People on the highway who catch up to you easily enough, but then slow down and don't pass for minutes despite there not being any other traffic.  But then soon as you are coming up on slower traffic, they finally speed back up to pass you with timing that blocks you from passing and forces you to slow down to avoid hitting the traffic ahead.

There is soo much truth here.   I have this belief that "inconsistent" driving habits are more dangerous than just regular bad driving habits.  As a fellow driver--you can just look at the road and notice that some drivers are aggressive and some are passive. The aggressive ones might tailgate, speed or do constant lane changes--the passive ones might drive too slowly, maybe act slowly when they change lanes....etc. ---but regardless--- an aware driver notices the types of drivers around them and adjusts their own habits accordingly. However, the reason why I agree with your pet peeve is because you are describing drivers that have inconsistent driving habits, and it is very hard to predict this type of driving.  It makes it more dangerous for everybody on the road.  If you are an aggressive driver--drive aggressively--if you are passive--drive passively-----but don't change your driving style randomly so that nobody else can predict it.
