Tim MacMahon, of ESPNDallas.com, reports Dallas Cowboys WR Miles Austin will play more than 50 snaps per game after his record performance in Week 5, according to head coach Wade Phillips. "We're going to get him on the field," Phillips said. "His run after the catch is so strong that if you get him the football, he's liable to make a big play. He obviously showed he could do that. We've got to get him in the game. He's got to get his touches." Phillips did not say whether Austin's increased playing time would come at the expense of WR Roy Williams or WR Patrick Crayton.

that's a HEAVY amount of playing time

Cowboys are averaging 62 offensive plays a game, so that is a big % of plays. However, I dont see where MacMahon got his number 50+ plays a game from Phillips, maybe a little speculation?

There's a quote in the other thread where Wade indicated 50+ plays

Wade Phillips says that Austin will play the same amount week 7 that he did this past week against the Chiefs.

"He's going to play. I mean, he played 58 plays in this game and I'm saying he's going to play 50-something plays in the next game too," Phillips said. "We're going to get him on the field. A guy has a game like that and shows that he can do the things we thought he could do."

So Wade, are you saying Austin is now a starter?

"Well, we're going to play him as much as he played the last game," Phillips said. "I'll say that."

McMahon said 50+ snaps, Wade didn't.and after he goes 3-13 next weekend, what next?
Oh, I don't know. Wade gets fired? Jerry Jones calls the shots and even drunk on his ###, he knows that a guy getting 250 yards in a game better be in the game all day long.

Bit off-topic but I'm curious...where does 250 yards rank on the all-time list? I know three players have topped 300 yards (Flipper Anderson, Stephone Paige, Jim Benton), but I haven't been able to find a database that has single game highs.
