Can you win with weak RB's (1 Viewer)

I recently joined a keeper league and and took over a team left by another owner. I've made a lot of off season moves to aquire what I consider to be better quality players but I'm really nervous because I really dont have any solid RB's. Traditionally Most of the 4-5 keepers/ team are RB's so my chances of landing a stud in the draft are extremely slim.

I've got

RB: A. Green, C. Dillon

WR: T.O., Harrison, Ward, A.Johnson.

I've got 2 first round picks and while everyone else will be grabbing WR's I'll be able to get some solid players early.

Has anyone been successful with top WR's but inferrior RB's?

Thanks.

it really depends on scoring of the league. The couple of $$ leagues I am in, WR points are weighted more heavily and guys with great WR really put up big numbers and have typically had just ok RB.

Do both RB & WR get ppr?? or just WR or neither? What I would do is take last year's stats and run them thru your leagues scoring and see how they weighted out on a weekly basis.

Also, what are the lineup requirements??? This could help you out as well.

there is a MINIMAL WR theory somewhere around here, pretty much states that there are is less deviation between WRs than there is RBs, I THINK... so getting good RBs and getting serviceable WRs is better than geting the best WRs, and seriviceable RB... the difference in points and volume of players between the #1 RB and the Mean RB, is much more scarce, than the volume of WRs between the #1 WR and the MEAN...

or something like that.. please correct me should I be wrong, or admin delete my post if misleading...

thanks

Standatd scoring, no ppr.
= screwed. You're probably drafting high in your league, so draft one of the Big 5 rookies and go from there.

I'm farmiliar with this theory. The drop off from the #1 RB to #12 rb last year was 177

The drop off from #1 WR to #18 WR was only 90.

I guess what I need to know is which RB's would I need to go with the receivers I have to put me above the mean weekly scoring line in my league.

I hate math but off I go to figure this out :nerd:

I won a league the year Peyton threw for 50 TD's with seriviceable RBs, but that was the exception.I normally subscribe to the above theory and it has worled very well for me when combined with tier rankings.

All you really need is for either Dillon or Green to have a Top 12 year (not out of the question at all), and to grab a top 20 RB in the draft or WW. It is not easy, but you could be starting out with a lot worse.

Who are your QBs and TEs?

That is ironic, I was getting ready to post as similar question because I am in a similar question.

No ppr and we keep 10, the twist is that it is a salary cap league.

QB: Bulger, Warner, Frye

RB: TJ, Chester, Gado, Houston

WR: CJ, Boldin, R. Moss, Driver

TE: Witten

We can start 2RB, 2WR and a flex. I was thinking about offering Moss for 1.02 and Dillon so that I could take Maroney and then take White at 1.05.

I don't want this to be an AC post, but should a guy stick with the stud WRs or go for RBs? Wouldn't having 3 stud WRs each week outweigh trading for a RB2 like Droughns in the end if you don't have a stud RB?

I won my league last year with Portis as my only back. I had Chad Johnson, Santana Moss, Chris Chambers, and subs of Coles, Engram, and than just worked the waiver wire all year.

I personally believe the day of the RB is over due in large part to the RBBC crap going on all over the league. Mixed in with the rules against CB's not being able to even touch a WR without drawing a penalty gives them more room to make big plays.

Plus the new style of TE's ala Gates and co, makes even more options for guys lining up against slower linebackers.
