Been wondering this since the beginning of the year, but what's with the stars under the Captain's C on all the jerseys? Everyone has 4 stars, one of which is in yellow. What up wit dat?

im guessing how many years you have been captain(starting this year), and cant be one after three years in a row

:lmao:

just a guess, interested to hear the answer.

Wikipedia:

Teams that have permanent captains are allowed (on a team-by-team basis) to wear a "C" patch (similar to those in ice hockey) on their right shoulder. The patch is in team colors with four stars under the "C". A gold star is placed on a bar below the "C" signaling how many years (with a maximum of four years) that player has been captain.

:lmao: So, you can only be a captain for 4 years? How effing stoopid is that?

You know of any 10-star generals, Alexander?

I read that as "you can only get up to 4 stars no matter how long you're captain." Probably to prevent huge rows of stars on the jersey.

:lmao: Non sequitor.

An analogy is not a non-sequitor. " :lmao: "

Does the analogy work? I mean, last I checked, Generals aren't named "Captain" for a maximum of 4 years and then stripped of the distinction.I mean, seriously, if Tom Brady goes the next 4 years as Captain, he can't wear the C again?

(I hope that, by mentioning Tom Brady's name, this thread doesn't get deleted because it should go in the pinned game discussions.)

Let me break down the concept for you then. I'll use small words too. Generals wear stars. Generals get more stars as they get promoted. After a while, no matter what else they do, no matter how much longer they serve, they can't get any more stars.

Get it?

Dude, seriously, what's your problem?
Everybody else seems to get it except you, lol.
My assumption has been that there are a limited number of folks who can wear the C. If you can only wear it for 4 years, then it bears no resemblance to the General analogy. So, I am not sure that the analogy works.I am sure that being a toolish in having this conversation does not work.

You can be captain forever. You stop accumulating stars when you get to 4. The analogy works perfectly.

Ok, that makes sense. That wasn't stated before. And, I had heard earlier this year, probably erroneously, that you could only wear the C for 4 years. Maybe I misheard that. But, thanks for explaining this in a reasonable way.
