Former DE Pace Learning To Play OLB

Summary: Former defensive end Calvin Pace continues his work as a strongside linebacker, a transition he acknowledged has been bumpy since he began there during the early May minicamp. Pace has now worked at linebacker a total of nine practices. “It’s been up and down,” Pace said. “When things are going good . . . you take a step forward and two back. You know the stuff, but it’s just about being confident.” Pace said part of the confusion has been because he is working against a complex Cardinals offense that shifts more than many teams.

Personal view: Anytime a guy is taken in the first round, as Pace was, a team will try eveyrthing to get a return on their investment. Maybe this will provide Pace a chance to shine, but the uphill road seems to be very steep.

Cards finished in the top 10 for defenses last year. How can you call that a JV D?Cards also had severl injuries to the D last year and no real depth on the D-line. I suspect the Crds D to be very effective this year.

Real intelligent comment here. Cards ranked 7th in D last year, with a few key injuries (Rolle 1st rd pick out all year).Dennis Green just likes to try and see if he can be a genius, we all know that. What has he to lose. If it works out he is a football guru. If it does not he pulls the plug early, hopefully not costing them games, and moves on, and at least he tried.

Kind of a no lose situation.
