Career advice. (1 Viewer)

Have you thought of putting together an actual resume and trying to get a better job?
My next promotion at work pays $15 an hour. I don't get my Associates until about March. I'm not in a huge hurry to find a new job unless it pays more than $15 an hour and is in the field of Accounting.

Woke up at 10AM and texted the guy to postpone the interview. Went back to sleep, woke up at 3PM and went to work at 4PM.
I am still confused how you have not made it huge yet.....
Guy, I'm about to get my 2nd promotion in less than two years at this job. All while completing an Associates Degree, gaining 20% on my stock portfolio, finding Jesus, and starting my own Fantasy Football website.

Next year I buy a brand new car, attend a University, and make even more money through shrewd investing. Hate all you want but this is a runaway freight train headed by one sick mother####er as the conductor.

Maxed out credit cards still running interest like a freight train?

Why doesn't the link to your site work?

Didn't know Jesus was lost.

You're too good to go to the original interview. That guy will be lucky to have a man like you on his team, and he should kiss your ### if he wants you to take a chance on him when you've got so much potential.

I currently work at Walgreens as a Shift Lead where I make $11.75 an hour. I am well liked in the company and am being fast tracked to my next promotion which pays about $14.00 an hour. It's an easy job and I like being the boss.

I am interviewing at State Farm tomorrow for a Sales Representative but am unsure whether or not I should take the job if it is offered. You would think the base pay would be comparable along with commission.

Does anyone have any insight? I'm going to go wherever the money is, unless it isn't significant. Any insurance sales reps on here?

Update?

Nothing, really? So just over 3 months ago you were being "fast tracked" for a sweet promotion, and now you're lying on your resume about having a degree so you can work for scam loan company and make $3.00 less per hour?

Was the promotion made up?

Speaking from experience, it's damn near impossible to earn a decent living selling insurance in your 20's. You won't make any money your first 2-3 years. Once you are over the hill I hear it's great. I've been doing it for 9 years starting at age 22 and I feel like I'm just getting to the top of the hill. It's great now because with renewals I increase my annual income about 15-20% each year, but it has just been the last 3 or 4 years that that percentage was significant money.

You're talking like somebody who wants to get hit.I think I'm going to turn down the Advance America job on Monday though. My only conflict is what to do if I'm offered the Lead Teller position at Fifth Third.

Interviews for ASMT start in June / July and if I got it, it would bump me to $14.00 ($30,000) an hour. On the flip side, there might be more upside at the bank as the next promotion from that Lead Teller role pays in the ballpark of $40,000 a year (personal banker).

Yesterday you said you accepted the Advance America job and put in your notice at Walgreens. Also, wouldn't a lead teller position require experience as a teller?

Why? All he did is call you out for your BS.
None of it is BS, dude is just looking for a fight. He was suspended for a week for talking crap to me.

Looks like he wants another suspension.

:lmao:

Between this thread and the boys and girls thread, all the blatant bs is laid out there for anyone willing to read. But it was great schtick for a while.

He hasn't done anything to deserve a suspension. Once again you're getting called out by several people. :lmao:

You guys are ridiculous. There's nothing but transparency from my side.

1.) Yes, I verbally accepted the Advance America job.

2.) Yes, I do have the opportunity to apply for a promotion in June / July at Walgreens if I stay.

2.) Yes, I have applied and had two interviews for a lead teller position.

I don't know what type of sociopath you guys take me for. Or what type of BS you think I'm spewing. I'm honestly worn out working for Walgreens. I've been here for 2-years making between $8.25 to $11.75 an hour. I'm well liked and if I'm still here when they do interviews for the ASMT position, I can almost guarantee that I'd get it.

But on the flip side, I don't want to get stuck at a job because I'm complacent. Do you think I enjoy getting up early in the morning and unloading a 500 piece truck? That stuff is garbage. Do you think I like having to close at 11PM and come back at 7AM? Do you think I like having to work Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter?

Call me crazy to think that making similar money for sitting at a desk all day in an Assistant Manager position with banker hours or getting a $1.00 pay increase to be a lead teller at a bank would be worth jumping ship for.

I'm 23 years old. I'm one class away from my Associates. Even if I quit my current job and moved to Florida, Chicago, wherever. I have no doubts I'd be able to land on my feet and find a new job making roughly what I'm making now in 3-months max.
