Peyton Place has averaged 30 TD a year. With 176 more TD to go, he'd still need to play 6 more years at the same level to reach Marino.

There have been 8 guys that threw that many TD passes from age 30 on:

Warren Moon 264

Steve Young 198

Vinny Testaverde 192

George Blanda 188

Brett Favre 183

John Elway 180

Sonny Jurgensen 179

Dan Marino 179

Warren Moon's total was a bit  .

Moon's is impressive too.

I just can't believe he's tied with Bledsoe and past Jim Kelly.(There are some others but Kelly's halfway recent so I guess it stands out to me)

Pretty amazing isn't it? He is just 11 away from passing Dan Fouts!

Those are great numbers for Peyton, but he's widely regarded as a great Quarterback.

For all the slings and arrows a QB like Drew Bledslow gets, one should be more surprised by him being up so high.

He's got 244 at the #13 spot and Terrell Owens on his team.

If he AT LEAST matches last year's total of 23 (and he should do better) he will end the season with 267 TDs, and (if Peyton passes him) be ranked #10 all-time.

Another season of even 23 TDs after that...and he will have 290 TDs and be tied with Johnny Unitas at #7 (if Peyton is still ahead).

That's just sick numbers. AND he missed almost the whole season when Tom Brady took over.

I can't stand Drew, but his numbers are more surprising...

Taking the top 15 listed:

If we list them by TDs per game...

1. x-Peyton Manning 1.91

2. x-Brett Favre 1.76

3. Dan Marino 1.74

4. Joe Montana 1.42

5. Dan Fouts 1.40

6. Warren Moon 1.40

7. Fran Tarkenton 1.39

8. Johnny Unitas 1.37

9. Boomer Esiason 1.32

10. x-Drew Bledsoe 1.30

11. John Elway 1.28

12. Dave Krieg 1.23

13. x-Vinny Testaverde 1.20

14. Sonny Jurgensen 1.17

15. John Hadl 1.09

Manning would need 92 more games at that pace to pass Marino.

If we list them by yards per game...

1. x-Peyton Manning 259.3

2. Dan Marino 253.6

3. x-Brett Favre 238.3

4. Dan Fouts 237.8

5. Warren Moon 237.1

6. x-Drew Bledsoe 231.1

7. John Elway 220.0

8. Joe Montana 211.2

9. Boomer Esiason 202.8

10. x-Vinny Testaverde 202.0

11. Fran Tarkenton 191.1

12. Johnny Unitas 190.7

13. Dave Krieg 179.1

14. John Hadl 149.6

15. Sonny Jurgensen 147.8

Manning would need another 109 games at that pace to overtake Marino.

I know that a lot of people think that Manning can't win the big games. That may or may not be true, but over the last four seasons he has been involved in seven playoff games.

He averages 291.4 yards and 2.0 TDs in those games; both above his career average in regular season games.

This is flaVVed on so many levels. Over his career, Manning has played 9 post-season games. True, he has 15 TD passes in those games, but 12 of them came in 3 games when the Colts piled on the points. That means in the other 6 games he's thrown 3 TD with 7 INT and IND has gone 0-6 in those games.

I wonder if Brett Favre is reading this post. It would only take him 25 passes to be the all time NFL touchdown leader. With this years Packers team, it would only take him 2 more seasons to beat the record.

:goodposting: I somehow think James leaving is going to have a more negative impact on Manning than is being projected (coupled with an aging Marvin Harrison)

yeah, Bledsoe is putting up HOF numbers. With a couple of great years with TO he could cement himself place in Canton I think.

1. If Moon had come right to the NFL, he would own many passing records.

2. Regardless if Favre comes back and gets the TD record, Manning will eventually break it.
