A lot of us have noted and in many cases, laughed/mocked the fact that Carolina has "no wide receivers" after they let Steve Smith go and then subsequently drafted Kelvin Benjamin.
Something that's quietly gone under the radar IMO is the fact that they have lost 4! of their 2013 Starters on the offensive line. Travelle Wharton has joined LT Jordan Gross, C/G Jeff Byers, and C/G Geoff Hangartner in retiring during the offseason. Currently they are leaning on possibly C Fernando Velasco for depth (30 starts for Pittsburgh the past 5 seasons) and relying on rookie Trai Turner to potentially start at RG.
Jonathan Stewart's now injured and they've lost RB Tyler Gaffney for the entire season. Carolina's resorted to having to sign RB Fozzy Whittaker! They just waived their 4th Round OG from last year who's gonna miss his 2nd Season with injury.
Would it be wise to steer clear of any Carolina offensive skill player at this rate? I'm not even sold that Cam can come out of this unscathed and not see his numbers drop some.
We all know that importance is placed on consistency and time playing together for offensive lines around the NFL (and even college football). How bad could the impact be?
