Carson Palmer... Where does he rank? (1 Viewer)

Carson Palmer is an obvious buy low right now but the real question is: "How high will he go AFTER you buy?"

TJ is performing well, Henry is back, Perry gives a nice 3rd down target, and if Ocho Cinco can get his act together, Palmer could be poised to explode. The biggest detriment to his value (aside from the obvious knee recovery) is his upcoming schedule has some difficult looking games like San Diego and Baltimore but both teams have seemed suceptable to the pass lately. His playoff schedule is not awful with Oakland, Indy and Denver.

My question to the Shark Pool is this:

Where does Carson Palmer's rest of year outlook rank amongst the following QBs (Excluding Peyton & McNabb)?

Brees

Kitna

Vick

Delhomme

Hasselbeck

Eli Manning

Brady

Grossman

Favre

Bulger

No Kitna?

I'm more concerned w/ the state of his O-line. Palmer has already been sacked 21 times... or as many times as he was sacked ALL of last year! He is an excellent deep-baller, but hasn't had the time due to the loss of his LT and C. I haven't been able to find anything lately about the extent of their injuries or their expected return date, but the answer to the trivia question lies in the health/gel time of the O-line.

IMHO, Palmer isn't even top 5 among those you list. It pains me to say that as he is my starter (Ben is my backup right now)... The schedule is too tough; the O-line is still a mess & I'm not sure if the staff trusts that Carson's knee is 100%, thus they are less willing to utilize the full playbook (i.e. deep passes) more than a couple times per game. My guess is that Palmer will struggle to even be a top 10 fantasy QB (more likely around #12 or so)... He just doesn't even look capable of a big game right now, & certainly doesn't look like someone who can carry a team for a couple weks...

cookiemonster said it perfect! Palmer will be at top of list if line gets healthy. If not maybe close to middle. I would bye low now if given the chance! He's managed 20-25 FPG without half his line. Just wait when he gets his line back!

He will thread the raven d for 3 or 4 tds this weekend. Remember where u heard it first!

How Palmer will play the rest of they year is a very good question. I personally think his outlook is bleak based on how he's looked through eight weeks. He clearly doesn't look the same a last year when standing in the pocket.

Does anyone have an update on his OL injuries? That is going to go a long way towards determining his ranking for the rest of the year....particularly because he has a schedule where he'll be facing some of the better pass defenses.
