Smart
Besides:

Warner Bros(Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Foghorn Leghorn, Sylvester and Tweety, etc.)

and

Hanna Barbara(Scooby Doo, Tom & Jerry, Flintstones, Jetsons, Spaceghost, Johnny Quest, etc.)

and

Disney(Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, etc)

and

Jay Ward(Dudley Do-Right, Rocky and Bulwinkle, Peabody and Sherman, George of the Jungle, etc)

what other cartoon 'studio' would be essential to include if you wanted to give someone a good idea of cartoons during the 60's and 70's?

Jay Ward - Dudley Do-right, George of the Jungle and most importantly, Moose, Squirrel and  many wunnerfulwunnerful Friends

Great call. Moose and squirrel lived in a different world, unfurled and genius.
Rocky & Bullwinkle and friends, H/B's Top Cat and, most of all, the black & white Popeyes from the 40s were all i needed as a 60s kartoon kid.

and anything with Mel Blanc, of course.

All I remember about Popeye is that Altman auditorily distracted DuVall so much during the "He's large" song that she was out-of-tune and incomprehensible as Olive.

Can't go wrong with any of the choices. These were cartoons when cartoons were awesome. Warner Bros. had the better ones though. Nothing beats Bugs and the gang but the others had their strong players too.

Ducktales were great.

Quite a bit younger than most I think, but was still raised on the classics. Just based on my favorites, looks like Hanna wins by a landslide.

Scooby-Doo

**** Dastardly & Muttley in their Flying Machines

Wacky Races

Laff a Lympics

vs Yosemite Sam/Wile E Coyote cartoons

Poll question is a bit different than I answered it. WB is no doubt the better cartoon studio, Hanna always playing catch up to the Looney Tunes lineup.

With the time period qualifier it eliminates Disney for me.  I loved both WB and HB but I spent countless hours watching HB cartoons - Scooby, Flintstones and Jetsons are staples.  Space Ghost, Top Cat, Wally Gator, Yogi, Muttley, Speed Buggy and on and on.

I think WB maybe has the top performer with Bugs and friends but HB definitely wins this for me.

Missing Woody Woodpecker by Walter Lantz.

Nothing beats classic Tom and Jerry. They frequently showed these as well from MGM via Tex Avery  Droopy (My favorite one: Deputy Droopy), Barney Bear, Red Hot Riding Hood, Screwy Squirrel.  All kinds of one timers like Little Johnny Jet, Billy Boy, House of Tomorrow, Car of the Future, Home of the Future, Flea Circus, Symphony in Slang (Love this one), Bad Luck Blackie (Had forgotten this one, awesome!), #### a Doodle Dog, Ventriloquist Cat, Counterfeit Cat, Garden Gopher.

My favorites, Cellbound and Magical Maestro

Looks like a bunch are available here:  http://texaverytv.netingredients.com/

Man these are ALL soooo good.

WB had better animation, and was actually clever.

I can smoke weed, and die laughing at Elmer Fudd or Bugs.  The Flintstones just makes you more stupid.  (''We're going to the ROCK Concert.  It's be ROCK-tastic!!'')

Warner Brothers also had the best peripheral characters ever.  Beaky Buzzard, Marvin the Martian, Tasmanian Devil, Pete the Puma.

None were as funny as consistently as the Warner Brothers...

One Froggy Evening is the PERFECT cartoon...
Not to mention What's Opera Doc or the Rabbit of Seville

Yes, Looney Tunes had it's great moments.  But other than Road Runner, it was like the same 20 shorts over and over.

Give me the immense catalog of HB any day.
