Cash? (1 Viewer)

Do you carry cash around? Typically how much?

I rarely have more than $50 and at least half the time $20 or less... I use a CC for just about everything at this point, paying cash leaves you unprotected.

Under; Hookers/Drugs/Gambling mentioned within 10 posts.

I can't stand to have less than $200. I am more careful with cash than plastic.
This is very true, much more careful with cash... Sometimes I go through my CC statement at the end of the month and just think about all of the wasted $$$

Dr Gobbler has kept a c-note in his front pocket for about a year now just hoping that tim will reach in there to grab it.

I keep $100 bill hidden in my wallet for emergency. Otherwise, I will have somewhere between $5 and $75 in the money clip at any given time. Never zero.

usually less than $20 on a given day.

will hit the ATM before going to the golf course or to the pub for pints though.

Close enough.
One day you may find yourself on the wrong end of a gun, with nothing but a handful of credit cards to offer in exchange for your life.

Now no more than 50 bucks, when I played poker several thousand wasn't out of the ordinary. I won a tournament a few years back and it paid out around 16k, it was hard to get into my pockets.

Cash. Start with 200-300 from the ATM on payday and reload as needed. I know I would lose track of how much I'm spending if I relied on cards. I'm almost embarrassed to admit my daughter had to explain to me how to use my ATM card as a debit card at a cash register last weekend.

Me: I gotta stop at an ATM before we pick up the hoagies.

Her: Just use your card to pay.

Me: ??

Her: Hand her your ATM card, say "credit" or "debit"

Me: At a deli?

Her: sure.

The phone-case wallet is the best invention in the last couple of years. Once you ditch the front pocket wallet, you'll never go back. It's extremely liberating.

Haven't carried a full size wallet in 5 years... The card holder/money clip is amazing
Do yourself a favor and switch to the phone case wallet. No more having to remember both. I had a similar clip/card holder previously, and the phone case wallet is light years better.

over $200 usually

i know 3 people that have had their bank accounts drained recently, due to identity theft. i HATE putting in my pin number anywhere and i don't like to use cc's.

This...i have between 200-300 at all times. I think this came from the days when i traveled a lot. Need cash for tips, cabs, etc. Just easier than waiting for the cab driver to give you a dirty look then hand fill out the CC slip. This is becoming less of the norm these days i know, i guess i am just old school.

I was actually in this situation once when I was in college

I usually have around $100 but I rarely use it. The only reason I keep it in my wallet is because there are a lot of Asian businesses and restaurants near us that are cash only and I don't want to have to find an ATM when I need it.

Interested in this also.

Bums think I'm lying when after listening to their sad story I say I have no cash on me. ####ing takers.

~$300 for the times I don't feel like using a card, like at a bar where I might forget and like to pay as I go. Otherwise I use the card as much as I can so I can get 2.1% cash back.

Most robbers will allow you to drive them to an ATM for withdrawal. That's why it's best to carry cash around $50 bucks.

Depends on the day of the week. Most of my personal training clients are cash only, so later in the week the more I have. Right now, $142, over $200 by sometime Saturday. Groceries first then the rest is fun money. I have found I am more frugal at the grocery store when I use cash instead of credit. Usually spend it all be Monday then start over again.

That's pretty close. Actually, I have $80 pinned to a cork board next to a picture I printed from the Internet of a morbidly obese couple drinking smoothies. It makes me giggle every time I see it.
